Real world is worrisome. My dad was slated to have an angioplasty next month but he had to suddenly go in for the operation yesterday. He is okay. But is having some insurance problem which I cannot solve unless I return to Kolkata tomorrow. So am a bit disoriented and troubled.
Have not been able to read anything on the thread beyond page 78-79. There are many fantastic posts, analyses, pics and gifs and there are many superb answers to my riddle! I love it when people have a ball over my riddles! But I don't know whether I will be able to read all the answers before Monday. Horizon's answer about ASr's coffee and Shiva's poison was awesome.⭐️ All the 'gandi bachchi' answers were hilarious.😆 I think my answer falls in that category too! Durgey thanks for the PM. Yes you are almost there! In fact anyone who has found some similarity or other between coffee and ASR is a winner!👏
Will post my answer in the first few minutes of Monday as promised.Going back to real world.
Barun, if only I could hug you!😭

Oh, Wiwy, I want to hug you right now 🤗 Do take care of your father. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Don't worry about the riddle, it can always wait. We all are with you. Wishing that you will be able to clear all the hurdles and come back here soon. 😊

Actually, I haven't post this one before! It's fairly new since it was published yesterday! I knew it wasn't created by Cecilia because I saw EonsOfMemories creations tag on the vm! Like I've mentioned before EonsOfMemories is one of my favorite vidder! Her creations are just too brilliant!! I've posted her creations here before!!
Edited:
I've read her note on her vm! This mainly focused on the pre - contract marriage moments. Based on good feedbacks, she'll make two more parts! Second part will focus on the contract marriage and the last one will focus on the wedding. Oh, I'm so looking forward to these creations!

Its Saturday morning, its raining out side, not my cup of tea.. well.. I am a coffee person anyway like our dear ASR!

We all had so many songs that we wanted to be picturized on our deal couple. But many a times I failed to realize/ accept this one song was never even really done on them... as probably it rang in my head too many times and etched in my eyes and ears when ever ASR gazed this cute/ innocent/ bubbly girl contently/admiringly/longingly... like when she jumps at finding the silver coins in the detergent, like when she entwined herself with the fairy lights..like when she tries to rub the soil out of her yes.. ...we know there are many...
that is Billy Jeol's " She's Always a Woman"..or perhaps that was my vision of how ASR saw Khushi!!

She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child,
But she's always a woman to me

She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her, as long as it's free
Yeah, she steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me

And she'll promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But she'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause she's always a woman to me

She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
And she can't be convicted
She's earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me

Khushi is in the state of delirium. She is absolutely turning insane. She subcosciously made Arnav with jalebi. she is flabbergasted,"what i did!' When Payal calls her she breaks the jalebi fast and starts gulping the hot jalebi as quick as possible. She is really crazy. If she wants to hide it she just could break it, she wouldn't need to gulp those hot sweets hastily. payal asks her what she is eating in haste and what is her tension, as she made mountain of jalebi? She says "nothing". Payal reminds her to make something what she usually makes for diwali. She says she will make it tomorrow. Payal teases her,"where will you make it, in Raizada house?" (pause: of course Payal, after all Raizada house is her sasural) Hearing the name Raizada Khushi gets restless again. she mutters,"you reminded me Arnav again." she promises not to see him. Why do you make such promises Khushi, that you can't keep!

My sexy boy opens his closet door to get something. His eyes goes to the purple sweater, what he was wearing on the other day, what has Khushi's touch everywhere. May be it still smells Khushi, cause he was squirming entangled with her on the rangoli in that sweat shirt.. Anjali comes in his room and sees him watching the shirt so keenly . she asks, what's wrong with it. Arnav answers, "nothing". Anjali gets incredulous with his monosyllabic answer. She teases him that he doesn't have any interest in any thing, looks lost, so something is wrong. she wishes to say something. Arnav tells her, as it's in her mind she will definitely express it. so she can tell. Anjali tells her that it happens when someone is worried with their work or someone is in love Arnav gets skeptical, "love and me, what rubbish". Anjali tells him that i know you are tensed with your work. Or moreover, you are already in love. hearing this he feels a jolt, he looks lost for a moment. He certainly thought about khushi. But anjali is not aware of his new feelings of love. She also gets surprised at his gesture, "why are you lost?" she tells him that everybody knows, he is in love with La. Arnav gets frenzy hearing this. he turns and slams the closet door. how cum he will say I don't love La, but love Khushi. Anjali gets panicked, "I don't know what is bothering you. but I think some one gave you evil eye. I want you to keep this lemon-pepper, what will protect you from evil eye. Arnav doesn't believe this kind of superstition, so he admonishes Anjali not to request him. Cause he can't keep it and she will be upset. Anjali emotionally blackmails him and makes him agree to do it. My sexy boy can't hurt his di, so he keeps it with a grumpy face. Anjali gives him a winning smile.

Nani is unhappy with the current status of La in the family. She is worried, how long La will be here without marriage or any relationship. Mami is worried with her son, how long Akash will remain brhammachari(saint)! Anjali tries to make nani understand, if you don't give your approval, how can I proceed the talk of marriage. May be Arnav restlessness makes her think that he is ready to marry. La is pacing back and forth, talking about some diwali party on the phone. Nani observes her and gives her judgement,"Ms, Kasyap is not that bad!" She adds, "she is not the type of girl what I like, but what is the use to be an ideal woman. all of the dreams never fulfills."

Two neighbors of the Gupats visit their house to exchange greeting with the family. Shyam thinks to use this to implement his plan. He tries to act as the family member of Guptas. He intentionally goes to the kitchen and shows his intimacy with payal. Two guests who came throw suspicious look at him. Bua and amma feel a little awkward. When they asked who is he, buaji hesitates to answer. One of the guests says he is a PG. bua feels more embarrassed. Other lady looks at Shyam suspiciously, "when you have unmarried girls at home, it's not right to keep a young paying guest in the house." Buji gets really embarrassed this time. Shyam gets happy, he thinks, his work is done. so they will force khushi more for marriage.
pause: I kind of agree with the ladies. it's really not safe to keep a guy paying guest in the house, where there are two beautiful young girls stay.

In RM living room all the ladies are making diwali list. Anjali asks khushi if she needs die or anything. Mami doesn't spare any chance to mock her," she can't afford the die from where we buy?'" Khushi's answer certainly a big slap for her," I love to make die of my own." mami taunts her even more,"you must not afford it." Khushi gets a little upset. but La shows her a friendly gesture by touching her hand. La has changed a lot. she has become so affable to Khushi. Khushi tells she makes dias for diwali every year. Mami mocks again, "is it for extra income?" nani yells her to stop. She encourages her, "as your sister is great in chikankary work, you must be good at making die. plz make some for us." Khushi enthusiastically agrees to do so. (pause: Mami is really mean and shallow. she must not know how fun it is to create something by one's own hand. i've grown up making different arts and crafts type projects in school. mami is good for nothing so she can't appreciate somebody's talents.) Khushi gets all the die making stuff from her bag.

mami tells anjali to get some fire crackers. but khushi warns her, not to use fire cracker. she tells her that small children work in those factories, risk their lives to make those crackers. so we shouldn't encourage this by buying those pathakas. she tells that diwali is the celebration of spreading lights, not noise.

khushi starts to make dia, but she forgets to bring the main element. suddenly she feels the breeze. so he is here. Arnav is passing through the hall. He steals glances at khushi. Nani tells him to join them. but he has conference call to attend, so he leaves, but doesn't forget to look at khushi occasionally. khushi also looks back at him. both of them have some kind of yearning in their gaze. Nani is frustrated, "people work for their meal, ifsomeone gets so busy that can't even eat his meal properly, then what is the point to work." Anjali tells her that Arnav participated in several occasions this year, like making rangoli, lighting etc. Khushi looks a little lost. this might reminded her all of the recent events with Arnav. Anjali tells more, "even he is working from home, it seems La's influence is quite strong in chote's life ." Nani defies her," not Ms, Kasyap's influence, in chote's life, but khushi's influence in La's life." mami doesn't like her comments,,"phatti saree is everywhere in our life, don't know she will let my son get married or not."

La reminds Khushi what element she forgot to get. Khushi tells her that it's mud, La suggests her to get mud from ASR's plants. but Khushi is abhorring. she is not scared of asr, but scared of her dhakdhak. La insists her and tells her ASR is in study, so he will not see you either. La craves to eat mud cake while talking about mud.

Back in GH Shyam starts his new drama. he shows his frustration on the neighbors. he says, he thinks the Gupta family of his own as he doesn't have his own family. as people thinks so mean about his staying at GH, he must leave the house. He intends to go, but before leaving he gives buaji some gold bangles, tells her, that "You are like my mother. may be this was written in my fate." he emotionally weakens buaji. buaji admonishes to take it, but he just put it on her hand and leaves. he puts buaji in obligation. buaji gets frantic at khushi, "let her come. i'll see her. because of her we almost lost a good groom." Shyam is eavesdropping everything and smiling wickedly, thinking his job is almost done. shyam can go any low to get khushi.

hi sohara,

what a lovely visual. enjoyed reading, that conversation between anjali and asr was just too good, wasn't it? i liked your grrr take on snake's creepy oves. how he psychologically squeezed two middle aged women in fairly difficult times. have to say the tension building parallel with love coming to foreground is rather interesting.

^^^ horizon,

speaking of othello, do you remember that scene after heer ranjha where shyam picked up khushi's handkerchief? very iago inspired no doubt. but again not taken forward. too many strange loose ends when it comes to shyam. after khushi finds out, there are silly attempts to make khushi bbelieve anjali is a difficult person to live with, then that is quickly abandoned and shyam is all set to kill anjali off. at least that connected to the terrace scene. but after that, all is fuzzy. why he does the things he does one will never know. after holi he corners khushi, but does he find out anything?

why such lack of care in telling shyam's story? how many things we overlooked just because two actors gave it all they have to create a fascinating portrayal of love.

khushi is entangled. in feelings and sensations that glitter like fairy lights and beckon her. but she's not supposed to feel like that, so how can she go to them. and let them glow on her skin, touch her heart, free her fantasy? how could she not listen to what everyone was telling her to do? so much is happening at home, yet why is spending all her time thinking of that laad governor. there he is giving her milk ever so tenderly, the look in his eyes is making her heart thump. and there she is, running across the cold hospital corridor and flinging herself into the warmth of his arms, the reassurance of his solid chest, and he is there.

he's there by her side as she weeps for her father, helpless, and his hand comes up and rests on her head... what is this, a promise, an assurance, a commitment forever? why does it make her feel better? calm her down? and why is his hand brushing against her back so delicate, so gentle, that she feels a shiver, his breath so warm and near that her breath is all in a tumble, a mess, racing? his eyes so intent on her, never moving away, why can't she look away? why does she want this moment to never end? but this moment can never end. for here is hamesha. isn't it?

devi maiya, want's happening to me?

khushi was never meant to feel anything of this nature for a man like asr. or so said her upbringing, and her own head by the time she was old enough to thing of such things. if anything she was meant to be attracted to a man who exhibited traits shyam did on the surface. an educated, pleasant man, with a great knowledge of the shastras, the cultural texts, polite, respectful of elders, modest, the sort that blends easily with people, environments, and doesn't dominate it, kind and concerned, certainly not so attractive both sensually and emotionally that you can't stop thinking about him.
Aa, aa
(Kya jaanoon sajan hoti hai kya gham ki shaam

I don't know, lover, what the night of sorrow is

A thousand lamps lit up when I took your name
Kya jaanoon sajan

I don't know, lover

(Jab se mili nazar maathe pe ban gaye
Ever since our gazes met, upon my forehead

Bindiya nayan tere, dekho sajna) - 2
Your eyes became a bindi, look lover

Dhar li jo pyaar se meri kalaaiyaan
When you took hold of my wrists with love

Piya teri ungliyaan ho gayi kangna
Love, your fingers became my bangles

I don't know, lover, what the night of sorrow is

marriage in india was never really about the one man one woman and helpless absolute love idea. there was always the reference of krishna with his lovely radha, but he was divine, even radharani for many is the incarnation of lakshmi come to unite with her eternal mate, vishnu. All lovers and wives of Krishna are supposed to be Lakshmi incarnations

for us mere mortals the plan was somewhat mundane. it was well thought out and tried its best to eliminate risk. very much a social construct. it was about matching two people similar in background and outlook, able to stay the long haul together, the families as much a part of this coming together as the couple. if anything, this crazy, heady thing called love was looked at askance. so exciting, so absorbing, so dhak dhak giving, how could it possibly be good for you?

even today, exactly like khushi, people ask, so yours' was a love marriage? even today it seems like the "other" way to find a life mate, the "arranged" still a norm across many parts of society. the difference now though is that certainly "love" marriage has an edge of aspiration to it. Thanks for sharing

which is the only reason perhaps khushi had even considered a thing called "pyaar." but in this also she had incorporated the image of the kind of person she would feel this elusive but precious feeling for. and that man was nothing like this arrogant, young devil of a rich guy with the most lethal temper, the deepest eyes, the gorgeous smile, who when he came near or showed her concern, made her heart just melt. her breath began to rush.
"There is an innocence in admiration: it occurs in one who has not yet realized that they might one day be admired."

but for some time now, it is becoming impossible not to notice feelings inside her. that telltale tear the other day was a clear sign of how deep the feeling had gone. and now after his intoxicating nearness as he peeled off the layers of light, her head just refused to move away from his thoughts. the dhak dhaks the sudden jealous feelings not yet identified when talk of marriage with Lavanya comes and the wanting to share her problems with him running to him yet being far from him observing him eyes seeking him

we live in layers perhaps. not always aware of each one. but the layers are always on, doing what they have to.

so at one level we are doing what we believe is what must be done, as is khushi. still aiding and abetting la in her quest to make her relationship with asr permanent. khushi is not pretending this whole thing, she is genuinely interested in the two finding happiness together.

yet, unknown to her, her instincts, her inner her is reaching out for eternity in its own way.

and her layer that is pure material, physical, is so immersed in the sensation of the man, it just can't stop and go inert and sedate again. that dhakdhak is its call.

i could feel those fingers on her back, her tremble within, she was electrified, and not by that simple alternating current running through the wires. was she entangled? or was she really wrapped in twinkling lights that sparkle in and around you when there's love and desire and their expectant upbeat air? why take off the lights? let them be. perhaps that's exactly what dm was doing, by not giving her easy, straight forward answers. stay a little entangled, khushi.

because asr is in not so different a place.

he has stood here by the pool thinking of her before. deep in the night, all by himself. once he stood with her payal in his hand... lost, khushi had returned on the day he thought she was gone forever.. hamesha. he stood thinking here of her, on a windy evening, holding the curtain away, its billow perhaps reminding him of her dupatta. it was the evening he'd brought lavanya home to be his live in girlfriend yet in his hour of solitude, his thoughts strayed to khushi.

again those layers it seems, the ones in which we live. our conscious self doing its own thing, our subconscious its own. we try to hear the voice of our most rational layer, but is it always possible? is it even right? he never meant to cheat on lavanya. in his wildest also he hadn't imagined there would be this compelling, convulsive attraction for this lucknow chat, samosa, jalebi, naan with bahut saara makkhan girl.

he had no idea that her tears would disturb the heck out of him, or to see her smile would mean everything.

of course, to preserve his image in his own eyes, his sardonic, smart cool layer would pretend it's all nonsense. he'd walk up to her perhaps because he just had to, but then would say in a mean little, boy voice
"itna uchhal kyun rahi ho..." why are you jumping so much? and cut into the girl's extreme joy (so much jumping, i couldn't even catch a cap). and then threaten her with familiar salary cut in the fear that his utterly telltale tender loving act would give him away to all, most importantly himself. he'd walk away of course after breaking up the party, but not without looking back when no one is watching. and let her obvious glee bring happiness and a sense of satisfaction to his heart.

she was under so much pressure, he had to do something to give her a sense of fun and lightness, her kind of happiness so she felt less hurt, lost, sad. so the tycoon sat with a packet of miss chamko detergent powder and slipped in two silver coins (uff too generous again and almost got caught for it)into the packet then sealed it carefully. oh, he also told the servant not to tell anyone. that was so faraq nahin padta, dear shatir asr.

and speaking of shatir, what happened to the fabled dimaag, when he saw the girl in tight unfashionable churidar with pompom and gota, entangled in gleaming fairy lights? he was entranced, his eyes never left her face, as she stood their glowing, enchanting. he forgot he had to switch off the electricity...mind not functioning of course.

another layer had taken over. he had to close the gap between them, had to look at her and let every bit of his desire and wonder show, had to hold her hand with authority and start taking the wires down slowly, turning her with gentleness, his hand so tender yet so right on her shoulder.

she never thought to protest, he never thought to ask.
whatever happens they never seem to question except when ASR is avoids admitting his love Khushi has to ask but damnit he takes so long to admit ufff
his arm on her shoulder he turned her around, in my mind a rite from the bengali wedding ceremony, when a man stands behind his wife and puts his arm around her as together they pour beaten rice into fire. always a stirring visual, no matter how ordinary looking the couple.

something terribly sensuous about this man holding this woman from the back, his breath on her shoulder, she just sensing his body his breath his presence, he but moments away from burying his face in the crook of her neck, feeling her silken hair on his face and just inhaling her essence. perhaps all of that happened somewhere unseen and the excitement of that permeated this scene.

she could feel it, he could feel it. no one thought it was crazy to leave the lights on, too much was happening to even think of such things. tum theek ho? he had to ask her when the last wire was off. and again, are you sure?

neither was ok, how could they be. when anjali finally arrived and switched off the lights it was as though a spell broke. a fairy tale tried hard to return to reality.

but seemed to fail.

it lingered in his "khushi ulajh gayi," in her instant tremulous look, and his absolute inability to look away from her as she left. di noticed how he kept staring. good thing she didn't see the look in his eyes. nothing would protect him then, she'd know his "saansey ruk gayi" girl is here. the one he can't stop thinking about, whose visage his eyes seek morning and night, whose every suffering he wants to take away instantly. and the next day when she tells them that's how you know you love someone, would he make the connection? would khushi?

but at some layer of his he already knows. that's why he stands there willingly lost in her thought, enjoying her touch, her feel, her very loveliness. enchanting fairy tale girl wrapped in fairy light, he wants to linger with her a while. just a feeling. not right. not wrong. no rational meaning, nor name. he gently reaches out and holds a light, such a lover like romantic gesture. arnav singh raizada ko kissi ladki se koi faraq nahin padta.

in my darkest night
when the moon was covered
and i roamed through wreckage
and a nimbus-clouded voice directed me:
"live in the layers,
not on the litter."
though i lack the art
to decipher it
no doubt the next chapter
in my book of transformations
is already written.
i am not done with my changes.

these lines from stanley kunitz's "the layers" playing in my mind, especially when i see the expressions on their faces. something about living in layers, of transforming, and changes. when you meet the one you love and who loves you, the changes are entrancing, like those blinking twinkling magical lights.

Indi
The innocence of Khushi and your talk of reminded me of my grandfather and grandmother both freedom fighters wore Khadi traveled all over India and Pakistan wherever congress sessions used to take place but they were communists and totally understood loved each other married when they were very young my grandmother was 10 grandfather 15(in a way childhood sweethearts grew up together and also celebrated their 75 years of marriage together now no more couple of years back grandmother passed away) and those days it was very common in 1920s he used to tell us tales when we were kids how he escaped a number of times getting jailed but was jailed pre independence in Madras Presidency jail. WE used to give us tips of defence and how to jump from very high place to first land on toes made me and my sister bit tomboyish 😆 and he used to tell us how when he used to come to talk with grandmother she was busy playing and never wanted to talk to him we used to laugh and say more stories and grandmother used to scold him for telling such tales to us.
loved the way you post magical the feeling andemotions you dipict so how much jadoo you will post for the jadoo and missed kiss. lovely pictures creations and poem. my comments in blue
