Episode 67

The Evil King
Sometimes people in power take advantage of their peons. They sometimes twist things to their advantage and that is exactly what Shyam is doing. He is using Kushi's sweetness and naievety for his own welfare, portraying himself in a sad way so that she will give him her sympathy, therefore gaining entrance into her heart. Disgusting! He tells her he has suffered greatly in his life (really, Shyam, really?) and even Kushi has caused him to suffer. He considers her as family; Kushi asks him why he is saying all this. He's packing to leave, again trying to tug on her heartstrings, but little does he know she doesn't feel that way towards him. He goes to leave and the whole house is upset but he is going; tomorrow is the festival of Lord Krishna's birthday and he needs to be home with his wife and family. Perfect play, Shyam all your subjects are under your control; you are an Evil King like Kansa.
A psychopath liar! His pretense is so irking!
At the RM Anjali, Mami and Mamaji are watching television and the breaking news is about a man leading a double life having a wife and a mistress. The family is intently watching and in disbelief as the broadcaster weaves the story of this man, his double life and his infidelity; as he is saying this we see a reflection behind Anjali of Shyam (Thank you Arshi for opening my eyes to see that) . This goes to show you how perfectly astute our creatives were, fantastic shot and premise behind it. Shyam joins them and throws his two cents in as well and he says you can not judge a person by his appearance and he would be in court everyday if he associated everyone with their deeds. Just the thought makes Anjali shiver. Shyams thoughts fly to Kushi and Mamaji watches the TV and smiles. Some light humor between Mami and Mamaji and he says after all the banter he knows men stink but why would he suffer more than once in his life! HaHa Mamji good one; you are behaving a little Kansa like as well.
I always loved Mamaji's sense of humor.
At the GH Kushi is lying in bed with a worried look upon her face. Payal is stroking her hair trying to sooth her younger sister for she knows when she worries. She tells Kushi that she always does good, right? Kushi nods. Devi Maiyya knows that, right? She nods again. So enough don't think about it, Shyam was worried give him space to think about it and you can call him in the morning. All will be well. She nods again. Got to sleep you have to work in the morning. Kushi tells her sister she does all this, suffers all this for her mother and father. It's just that Laad Govenor's mistake'the Evil King.
She goes to sleep and wakes up in a dream. She is in a court room where she is the judge, Lavanya is the plaintiff and that Evil King, LG, ASR is the defendant. Buaji is the statue of justice behind her. Lavanya call hers Chamkilli, um, your honor while Buaji is whispering in the background the words she has to say. ASR says he doesn't have all day. Buaji whispers, "After seeing all the facts and the evidence' Kushi repeats, "After'.JALEBI! (they are on her table), ahem, after seeing all the facts and the evidence and after hearing all the witness the court has decided that the mistake has been made by ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA! He kept her in his house by force without marrying her. He has insulted the institution of marriage and he will receive punishment. His punishment will be he is to stay away from Lavanya. (Good one Kushi is this subconscious mind speaking?) Lavanya thanks her. ASR points his finger at her and says I will not forgive you for that. She says, Look you can not scare Lavanya away and he says but I can you! Buaji says throw him in jail for he has insulted the court. She stands up and says you can't blackmail this court. He leaves his stand and hovers over her, Kushi cowering in the chair. I CAN do this! Buaji places her hand on Kushi's shoulder, giving her a little support and Kushi turns and says to him no YOU can't, because the Law is above all! Laad Govenor. Not so hard she says to her Buaji she is shocked to see that justice is her aunt who is holding the paddle. She scolds Kushi saying it is your entire fault and her dream or I should say nightmare ends with her screaming as she is just about to be paddled by Buaji. She wakes up.
Khushi's dream is eccentric like her.
The breakfast table at the RM is full everyone is there but Shyam who left early for "work". Mamaji wants to start his day with sweets after all they are celebrating. Mami says everybody is busy eting but will they celebrate the boy's birthday. Lavanya asks whose birthday is it and is there a party. Nani says why you want to sing and dance to another inappropriate song? Mami continues and says its Lord Krishna's birthday. Lavanya does just not understand it. Anjali tries to explain about Lord Krishna as well. Today is the feast of Janmashtami.
Lavanay was just so unfit for the Raizada family.
Krishna Janmashtami (Devanagari ????? ?????????? k???a janma??ami), also known as Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanti or sometimes merely as Janmashtami, is an annual commemoration of the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.[1]
The festival is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Shrava?a (August'September) in the Hindu calendar. Rasa lila, dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna, are a special feature in regions of Mathura and Vrindavan, and regions following Vaishnavism in Manipur.[2] While the Rasa lila re-creates the flirtatious aspects of Krishna's youthful days, the Dahi Handi celebrate God's playful and mischievous side, where teams of young men form human towers to reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it. This tradition, also known as uriadi, is a major event in Tamil Nadu on Gokulashtami.
Krishna was the eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva. Based on scriptural details and astrological calculations the date of Krishna's birth, known as Janmashtami,[3] is 19 July 3228 BCE and departed on 3102 BCE. Krishna belonged to the Vrishni clan of Yadavas from Mathura,[4] and was the eighth son born to the princess Devaki, and her husband Vasudeva. Mathura (in present day Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh) was the capital of the Yadavas, to which Krishna's parents Vasudeva and Devaki belonged. King Kansa, Devaki's brother,[5] had ascended the throne by imprisoning his father, King Ugrasena. Afraid of a prophecy that predicted his death at the hands of Devaki's eighth son, Kansa had the couple locked into a prison cell. After Kansa killed the first six children, and Devaki's apparent miscarriage of the seventh (which was actually a secret transfer of the infant to Rohini as Balarama), Krishna was born.
Since Vasudeva knew Krishna's life was in danger, Krishna was secretly taken out of the prison cell to be raised by his foster parents, Yasoda[6] and Nanda, in Gokula (in present day Mathura district). Two of his other siblings also survived, Balarama (Devaki's seventh child, transferred to the womb of Rohini, Vasudeva's first wife) and Subhadra (daughter of Vasudeva and Rohini, born much later than Balarama and Krishna).[7]
Hindus celebrate Janmashtami by fasting and staying up until midnight, the time when Krishna is believed to have been born. Images of Krishna's infancy are placed in swings and cradles in temples and homes. At midnight devotees gather around for devotional songs, dance and exchange gifts. Some temples also conduct reading of the Hindu religious scripture Bhagavad Gita.[8]

Anjali continues that Kushi will explain everything to you the story and the rituals that take place during the pooja for this feast. He hears her name looks up. Lavanya says oh, okay. He is leaving and Lavanya tells him about Kushi's condition how she doesn't want to see him or meet him face to face. He gets annoyed, how dare she, in my own house? As he is walking towards the door she walks in. The scene is like something from an old western movie, gunslingers meeting for the first time for a duel. He firmly and determinedly walking towards her, suave, and debonair, eye to eye, in his thoughts, 'how dare she say that she doesn't want to see my face, it's my house' and she is doing the same thing, Popping chana slowly into her mouth with no fear, a determination of disgust, what kind of man is he who brings a girl into his home without offering marriage but she doesn't stop there as they pass she mutters he is a bachelor AND a demon! What the hell? He says and she runs bumping into the column. She turns looking at him again and runs away. They both have shared the characteristics of an Evil King with much hatred and resentment towards each other today.
Very well said.👏
Preparations are in full swing at the RM. Namaste. Kushi has entered and is excited because they are celebrating the feast as she did in Lucknow and thye decorated the house for Lord Krishna's birthday. Mami comes and has a snide remark for Kushi. She is so mean. Anjali reminds Kushi of what she has to teach Lavanya today. Kushi feels bad for Lavanya thinks about their "live in" conversation and decides she must be nice to her, after all it's that Evil King's fault. She pops more chana in her mouth worriedly.
In the GH the pooja is also being prepared on a modest scale. Shyam and Payal are preparing and Buaji comes in with the statue of baby Krishna which she places on his swing. Shyam says hehas prepared sweets for everyone. She says Kushi will eat them all. She reminisces how Payal and Kushi as children would cook and sing and it was so much fun but now she is working. Buaji can't believe her job is to teach someone to be a good bahu. Payal says she said she would come home early. Do not worry.
Kushi is a stress eater. She is popping chana in her mouth; will you find comfort in those beans? Anjali looks at her and asks what she is thinking is she going to teach Lavanya? Kushi says yes and jovially goes and says hello to that poor victim of the Evil King. She sing songs her name, Lavanyaji, How are you? A little to jovial if you ask me. Very well no doubt she answers. She answers I know this is not your fault. Lavanya looks at her like she is crazy. She notices her basket of flowers and proceeds to teach Lavanya about the story of Lord Krishna, how he was carried in such a basket. She asks her to come and sit down she is going to tell the story of Krishna and his parents. She is playing the role of Vasudev his father and Anjali will be Devki, Krishna's mother. She starts by tying her dupatta and says it is a very old story told by her forefathers and so she remembers it. Anjali says well done! SHHH! Evening a dark and dreary night, its cloudy and rainy, thunder and lightning'CRACK'everyone jumps at the sound of the thunder. Vasudev and Devki were held in captivity when Krishna was born. Lavanya is confuse, captivity? Devki? Kushi says she will explain. She explains about Krishna's parents. Anjali is playing Devki and she is about to have a baby, Krishna. Now she is in captivity in a jail. Lavanya, "Di, jail? Why? Who took her to jail?" "King Kansa" "Who is he?" Lavanya asks. The front doors fly open and in comes our Rakshas, ASR. Kushi continues,"he is the brother of Devki. He was very authoritarian. He was very proud of himself. He had a lot of hatred in his soul." Lavanya still in a confused state says to herself, sister, brother, ASR? Hilarious. "He was always involved in bad things." She points her finger, "His name was King Kansa," and in walks ASR right in front of her pointed finger. HICCUP! Oh, Miss Kushi kumara Gupta you have it bad for this man and you don't even know it. The Evil King is standing right in front of you, open your eyes, pay attention, he is fuming! She slowly turns towards her pointed finge and sees him, mouth hanging open; Anjali stands up maybe she can save her. She realizes her finger is pointing at him, retrieves it and brings her arm down. Anjali reminds him that he is to go shopping for the pooja today. He remembers. He leaves but before he does he stops and looks back at her.
Who is this insolent girl who dares point her finger at the Evil King?
