Ok, practically IPK2 is not possible. Even if Barun is not there, it's not practical. Of the cast,

Abhaas Mehta got a new show & started shooting (Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan, show to be aired in March)

Akshay Dogra currently appearing in Punar Vivah

Deepali Pansare got a new show (Fear files, I think - I do not know much about this show)

Sanjay Batra currently appearing in Balika Vadhu (I do not know for how long he will be in this show)

Utkarsha Naik currently appearing in Khamoshiyaan (speculations of the show going off air are rife)

Daljeet Bhanot - was really unhappy with the way her character progressed in IPK and almost called it quits. Why would she want to do the same role again? She too wants to do a central character in a show. Going by how IPK went, IPK2 would also be about Arnav/Khushi... so, don't think she will be on board at this point in time!

Sanaya Irani - no confirmed reports yet… But I am pretty sure she has many offers! She is too talented to not get any…

Barun Sobti - really not happy with the current format of Indian TV and would prefer to do short running shows, not ones that run for years! Plus, he is looking to do more movies...

Jaishree T, Pyomori Mehta, Abhaa Parmar etc. usually make up the supporting cast and they could still take up other shows.

In short it's really impractical for IPK 2 to come back. Personally, don't want the show to come back.

For me the whole premise of IPKKND was the love triangle between Arnav-Khushi-Shyam and its impact on Anjali-Arnav's relationship. This is an idea that has a finite story line, if you take a time leap and go into the kids of Arnav and Khushi, it still doesn't make it Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon - it's a new story with a new storyline! Then for me, it makes sense to start a new show with new characters which will give the makers room to manoeuvre!
