My POV about 1 year contract

is it survival or is it digging his/her own grave??

well I think it is mainly survival.

Mainly because it is win-win situation for the actors to sign 1 year contract.

Why???

Because if the story doesn't go anywhere and the actor is fed up,or even if there is conflict between the actor and PH and money issues arises,then the actor can always walk out.

If the serial is axed before the contract is up,he or she will be bound to the contract only for a few months,rather than for years and everyone knows the penalty of breaking a contract.so the actor will be free to be creative elsewhere.

and there is an added advantage of signing one year contract.after the year is up and if the actor wants to continue,then he can always demand more salary and if he is popular like Barun and the serial is doing well then they will definitely pay him whatever he wants to keep him.so I think Barun Played it smart by signing one year contract.and he will since his smart wife is in Merrill Lynch.she will definitely know ABCs of contract.
