wonderful, gandhari,
your are of course very brave to invite the bashing but what the h, who cares.
barun has done nothing wrong from what one can see, in fact has done all he could to keep alive the character he created. and been damn decent about what he said of each and everyone involved. even without this ht interview i trust the boy. and yes š i don't have to give any justification for that.
thousand untied loose ends to a story, starting with dhruv in episode 10 or 11, no developing of parallel stories, reducing characters to ciphers who periodically threatened to leave, completely botching the kidnap story with no explanation of why, what, will, nothing; no resolving of the contract issue; post kidnap floating around directionlessly then chucking all the wonderful leads into the next layer of story to suddenly bring in a quickly invented dadi and hurrying things along with her to unreal denouments; a peculiarly rushed exit of shyam; a heinous miscarriage for what purpose no one knows; complete vanishing of the guptas other than cursory appearances a couple of times ; bizarre sheetal and son introduction; an adoption even before a honeymoon; complete ditching of characters so lovingly built: khushi becomes sp vahu in tent and long open hair heavy make up, asr is so sweet his diabetes is passing out; then a ridiculous something called mrs india contest in a closed room with no spectators,
just a few of the things that were not barun sobti's fault.
in fact, a mark of exactly how professional he is, he did all he could to stay in character, the main attraction of ipk being asr and his chemistry with kkg. no matter what, he worked hard to keep this real. the only reason i watched till the end. for even in the worst stages there would still be a couple of minutes every episode where you could feel the magic.
not that it wasn't clear that show was being dumped and gagged by production house. the story has run its course? seriously? maybe we should do a workshop for respected gul and colleagues to show them exactly how story could have moved kidnapping onward. looking ahead, dhruv could have made an entry around holi next year, and started a fresh new lap of the still not quite run course.
and gandhari, diwali he would have kidnapped the ever busy sp bahu out to save his family, for a honeymoon in nainital. with him he'd have taken the jewellery he'd once hurt her with, buying what she liked for la. he'd stride into the dhaba with tied up wife, get them to open up that room and proceed to show her a thing or two about wearing and taking off necklaces, earrings, rings, couple of other things. this time no ramanchi on edit table.
in the morning he'd give her ma's kangan and letter. she'd get all teary eyed and touched and while he kissed away her aansoo, she'd just reach up and pull him down...
which course was miss gul referring to? abhi toh 10 course degustation menu baki hai.
Indi!!!
AWESOME!!! as always fellow phangirl! and your thoughts in bold is reflection of my state of mind too!!! I never felt the need to defend him so kept quiet till now...just felt the time is prime now to ask the questions that had been bubbling in my mind since all hell broke lose in our beloved story...and turned into anything but the IPK we all fell in love with.
and Indi I wish you had posted those ideas in the official page of the 'the story has run its course'-Lions page ...but then again PH who though has a woman at helm , seems to have not warmed up to the century of multitasking š¤ ...all the hint of IPK magic they tried to recreate seemed to be all offscreen and seems like some people are fan of that than the 'unprofessional' actor who though was 'bored', 'lost interest' made us still believe in the essence of his journey with Khushi ...though the creators ruled it out.
Gul Khan is too far fetched for my delusional , phangirl brain...maybe the intelligent people can tell us about which courseš
