Chaper 1
It was a dark and bleak, Sunday afternoon in December.
Arnav sat in the silent room with his eyes closed..With his head resting against the softness of the leather couch, he felt a wave of drowsiness wash over him...In this semi slumberous state, a voice reached him...
"Dark?" ...
"Mewar" he heard his voice say..
"Rain?" the voice prompted
"Peacocks"...
"Sunshine?
"Mango Trees"
"Pain?
Silence..
Pain?
Silence
Happiness?
Khushi...
As soon as this word escaped his mouth, Arnav opened his eyes with a start and sat up..
As a divulge of half forgotten memories threatened to invade his heart, uninvited...he clenched his fist and stood up..
" I have to go now, I just remembered about a meeting.."
" But the session is not over yet...it won't take long..."
" Sorry I got to go.." Arnav said coldly and walked out ...
This was his first and last session, he thought to himself angrily..."How could he have been so foolish to even consider seeing a psychiatrist and let him talk him into seeing a therapist "
The first thing he was going to do when he reached his apartment was to throw all the pills away..." He was fine...how could he not be when he had built this huge business empire all by himself in just a few years ...and was now one of the richest and most successful people in India.."
Reaching his apartment in a foul mood, and wanting to be alone, he yelled for Ramesh...
" You can leave now.."
" But sir, I'm in the middle of ..."
" You didn't hear me" Arnav said softly.." I said LEAVE.."
Fixing himself a drink, he called Maya...
" Maya...leave everything that you are doing and come here now..."
Maya was at her apartment eating dinner with her roomie and friend, Ruchi..
She got up at once, " I have to go Ruchi.."
Ruchi looked at her friend with annoyance mixed with pity..." How do you put up with him, Maya? How can you let him treat you like this..he is not normal...he needs to see a shrink or something...don't you have any self respect to have let yourself get into that kind of ' arrangement' with him..
Knowing in her heart of heart that whatever her friend was saying was true, she lashed out at her, " ASR is of royal descent, and one of the richest men in India, he could have had any number of girlfriends, he could have chosen anyone...to have a ...a ...relationship with...but he chose me...doesn't that say anything to you..."
" Yes...a relationship...but what kind of relationship...it had sounded more like a business deal to me..." Ruchi had been shocked when Maya had told her about her boss, ASR's proposal and even more shocked when Maya had told her that she was going to accept it.."
It was so abnormal, so cold blooded that Ruchi had felt nauseated...
" He said, it will be a contract to agree to consensual physical relationship without any expectations of marriage or emotional involvement...and that either of us will be free to break the contract any time we wanted to..."Maya had told her a month ago in a queerly unemotional tone...
Ruchi had actually burst in tears hearing that from her friend and their friendship was never the same again..She knew why Maya was going ahead with this mockery of a relationship, putting all her values, her dignity, her self respect at stake...it was only because of the hope of becoming the wife of one of the richest men in India...one day..
Maya rang the bell and was greeted by Arnav's usual inscrutable, unsmiling face..
" Hi" he said..
Later that night, as they went to bed together, she abided by all his rules...taking care not to express any kind of tenderness or love...touching or kissing his face was strictly off limit as was using any kind of endearment...and the room always had to be totally dark..
After it was over, Maya hated herself for going through this indignity over and over again...She couldn't bring herself to hate Arnav though, because even though she wasn't very sensitive, she could still feel the vibe of cold misery emanating from him..
Later as she was getting dressed in the dark room, ready to leave, she heard him getting restless in his sleep...
" Khushi.." she heard him say...

Hi friends, this is the first time I am writing something like this, ASR here, has a dark side to his character...is it too disturbing? Should I continue?
