Just a quick post to share my instant thoughts...

I cannot express how happy I felt reading those lines. Rajan Singh also praised Sanaya immensely during the recent SPL event, but I did not feel a thing. I felt it was a bit too superficial. It felt like he was doing it out of sheer courtesy.

I once complained why Sanaya did not get an award for her impeccable portrayal of Khushi's character. Regardless of how the character was sketched, why couldn't the critics look past the character to judge the actor? After all, they ought to judge the acting skills, isn't it? As the unfairness continued, I even made a post wondering whether Sanaya's Parsi origin has to do anything with her discrimination. I was advised by many more experienced users that this was not the case, so I did not pursue the thought...

When Sanaya stated in a recent interview that bagging an award for her efforts would make her happier, the thought returned and I was again wondering why this injustice.

But today after reading these words of LM, I have no complaints. This to me is bigger than any award that SI could have possibly bagged. An award could be the result of blind fan following. An award could be the result of character popularity. This is not to say that an award is never given for the right reasons. It's just that my personal opinion of an award is exactly the same as that of Aamir Khan - they are heavily commercialized these days. However, a director's assessment of his actor can only be genuine, honest, and true.

As usual, I have a real life example to explain this. I never felt as happy receiving an honors certificate from the Chancellor of our university as I did when I received a comment from my professor that said I have done an excellent job. I had this highly critical Canadian professor with whom I studied for an year. In one of the final papers I wrote for his course, he gave this beautiful short comment to praise my work. This was years ago and I have kept that paper because I need to frame it while all the certificates I have received are lying somewhere I don't know. That's because I know that my professor knew me, he saw my improvement, and he saw my dedication. So his approval and appreciation becomes way more genuine and significant than those standard certificates that probably go to every other student.

It is for this reason that I value LM's words above any award show. So I thank LM for awarding Sanaya her due credit today. Dair aaye durust aaye... I must also add that now I have no regrets about Sanaya playing the character of Khushi. I only hated the fact that she gave herself to Khushi's character and the character did not return anything to her but this is no longer true post LM's interview.

Thank you Mr. Lalit, and I hope that Sanaya gets to work with you again.

Edit:
P.S.: Please visit the website and leave your comment. If you don't know the website, ask me and I'll forward you the link through PM.

I was just going through the comments and look at this:

"badly edited article :S well thanks for this though..great to know what happens behind the camera.."

The website replies:
"For the record we have not edited the article...its straight from the director's mouth to here"

I seriously don't understand how could such accusers exist. I wish I could ask the person who made this comment what satisfaction did s/he receive from this senseless accusation?!

Again... can we please thank the website for bringing the interview and LM for appreciating SI's work?

👏👏👏👏👏👏
That's all I could do and do more for this Lady!
I am so happy reading those lines for her. I remember when she was quoted of being Tantrum queen by some Newspaper She said.. "If any of my Director says the same.. I would leave Acting."
That's what she is.. and I have heard Barun also said once.. She is always on time.😊
the 7 Am line is for that NewsPaper.. while all other Lines of how she shined thru without any grand scene... is for all Award Funtions... where She is neglected over some wood and plank.
No one in TV industry.. I mean it.. No one in TV industry can beat Sanaya. and her portrayal of Khushi is Beyond Perfection... beyond any amount of praises or Appreciations she gets.👏

Thats where you disappeared to from the AT 😆 Thank you so much for making this post, you have said everything!! Like you said in the AT, "an award could be the result of blind fan following. It could be based on the popularity of the character. But a director's assessment of his actor is genuine, true, and honest." This is bang on and I couldn't agree more

well said...der aaye durast aaye. I agree that getting a genuine praise from someone who works close to you is far more precious than some random person praising it without having an in-depth knowledge of your work.

Since SI is in entertainment industry, channel/PH/advertisers don't give a hoot what a director says. For them having someone on stage and receiving is far more worth than a simple appreciation by a director so I fully sympathize with Sanaya that receiving an award not only make her personally happy but also raise her profile where it matters e.g. better roles and more money.

Let's hope someday everyone will realize it.

I'd say it really depends on what type of a person you are. I know people who deserve to be on the front page of every newspaper but they are content with the work and maintain a low profile. If you love what you do, then money and fame cannot be the driving force. Yes you need money to pay your bills but you don't need overflowing bank balances. For instance, just today an instructor was telling me that he has resigned and will return to his home country just because he's not happy with his work. He said it's practically not easy to leave the kind of money that his current job offers but it's not worth getting depressed day in and day out. So he chose his happiness. Hence, it really boils down to your priorities.

👏 Sonya, so well written as usual. I completely agree with u, the words of a director mean a lot. Who knows these actors than the one who directs them, watches them, and works with them the entire time? I am so happy today by LM's words, I cant express it. Der aaye, dorost aye Love you angel, we all know who the best actress is 🤗Her hard work didn't go to waste, her professionalism and dedication wasnt ignored, ofcourse everyone saw it !

Couldn't have been said better! The way you have reinforced the idea that sometimes there are things greater than awards is bang on.Never have I felt appreciating an actress SO much than Sanaya and I have a feeling that I never will. She always deserved an award for Khushi though sadly her character I feel was not understood by many. And yet,yet I feel proud because truly said-She managed to leave a 'Khushi' touch, she managed to carve out her name despite every lame or stupid scene. And THAT is what a real actor is,nothing else :) As for the award thing-I remember this once when I got less marks in a Biology paper and my teacher wrote out 'Hey!I always expect full mrks from you.Never mind, you're good.' Trust me,not even a full marker could have matched up to that comment which still stays in my mind.Probably because it was worth more than marks or certificates too!So for Sanaya-You were Worth it!I am so glad I saw your impeccable acting the first time I caught onto Ipkknd :D
