The channel wanted the PH & the actor to 'resolve' the situation internally. However, as InDi eloquently pointed out the backlash to the announcement of the 'longish break' was unexpected & the channel was blindsided. The other big piece here is that the PR side of it was and continues to be a debacle because there is absolutely no credible damage control on anyone's part. STAR is aware of who Sobti is, but thus far, they have been silent because of 1) SPL, and 2) They are looking at every angle of the financial implications here. They now have to go back to the drawing board to see how viable this show is if Sobti leaves. That's the bottom line. In the meantime, they are hedging & buying time, while the PH tries to play with viewer sentiments with these inane leaks about future tracks, including the cliched death scene, Sobti's non-existent movie offers, interviews, unsubstantiated articles in the press, etc, etc.

Unfortunately, Viraf Patel is only adding fuel to the fire via social networking sites by making light of the situation at various people's expense; is this publicity necessary?

Hey, there! Thanks, but I am happy with my lot in life! 😊 If one can take a few minutes to objectively look at the situation, the gaps & loopholes are obvious! Priya has spent three weeks trying to layout all the scenarios & decoding every bit of what has gone down--yet there are those out there who think of her & our views as hubris...Go figure!

Viraf is a good actor; I liked him in what little I saw of 'Mahi Way'...but as you said, the antagonistic stance--seemingly intentional--only makes harms him & his would be co-stars! The reactionary frenzy only adds to it!! A bit more professionalism would go a long way!

Good point! However, any actor who stands in the wings awaiting to potentially replace an iconic character & a much adored co-star would not want his name maligned or used in such fashion even before his first scene in the show is aired!

I have friends who have confirmed his sardonic side which is in keeping with the 'tone' of the tweets thus far...
