Why did he ask...there needs to be an official announcement???of course right...unless its just leave of sme sort or a very small break !

I mean he seems to be taking it as something in stride...like applying fr leave in office!

Maybe that's what t is?? He needs personal leave and since it's a daily the have t decide on a story to cove his absence ??
