Manorama Singh Raizada, the daughter 'in-law of Deviyaani Singh Raizada, was first introduced in the show as a person who is always bothered about materialistic things.She is married to Mahendra Singh Raizada. When they introduced her, she was busy putting on make up and dressing up for a Puja held in the house. She is so conscious of how she looks and she never steps out of her room without any make up on her face. She has a very sharp brain and very quick witted.

It is slowly revealed that Manorama was from a middle class background. She fell in love with Maamaji and got married. She and Naani get along as cats and dogs and Naani will is shown always taunting her for not helping in the house because she is spending time on make up and jewelry.

She has one son Aakash and she wished her son would marry into a very rich family. Basically she is very conscious of her background and so she tries to taunt others who belong to that background.
When Kushi first entered Shanthi Vaan by mistake trying to sell Lucknowi sarees, she mistook Maamiji for a servant. Maamiji held that grudge against her. When Naani and Anjali placed an order for the sarees, out of sheer spite she tears the sarees and puts the blame on Kushi.
She without telling Naani cancels the order and starts calling Kushi Phati Saadi from then on.
She loves her sister-in-laws children, Anjali and Arnav as her own and she treats all of the equally. Once a jeweler came home and Anjali was choosing jewelry but when Maamiji sees it then she wants a big set. Naani refuses to buy her, but Arnav who happens to pass by will immediately agree to buy the set for her.

The reason behind this is that when Arnav started his business she gave all her jewels and other bonds to help him set up the business. Arnav never forgot that and always gave in to what she wanted.
She is totally against Kushi right from the beginning and always never lets an opportunity to taunt her. This is because of her insecurities. She plans with Lavanya to send Kushi out of RM when Kushi used to go there for teaching Lavanya the traditional ways.

Manorama's biggest wish was as I said before that she wished Aakash to have a big society wedding all that she wished for and did not get. So she was very keen on Arnav to get married to Lavanya first so that she could find a bride of her choice for her son.

The biggest blow for her was when Aakash fell in love with Payal. Once when Payal came to Shanthi Vaan, she hurt her foot. Aakash was quick to he rescue and take a home. She then named her Khoon Bhari Thaang.

She would not accept it at all and even threatened to leave the house when Arnav told her that she would not live in comfort if she goes out of Shanthi Vaan. That's materialistic Maamiji for you. She went back inside the house and very half heartedly agreed for the wedding. She never let the Guptas ever forget that what a sacrifice she made. After Aakash and Payal's wedding, when Arnav and Kushi came in front of them. She really insulted the Guptas and Kushi.

She was always behind Payal and Kushi and taunting them for silly things. She was always coming between Payal and Aakash and never allowing them any space. She was under the impression that both the girls got married for money and a materialistic life.This was Manorama Singh Raizada then a year ago.
MANORAMA MAAIJI AS I SEE HER TODAY
After the marriages of both the couples, Maamiji slowly realized the mistake she made in thinking that both the girls Kushi and Payal got married for materialistic things.
First her attitude was the same to Payal, when entered Bubbly her niece, who was an orphan. Bubbly who was nine was very attached to Aakash. Bubbly who had no one to call her own and who lived in a hostel was possessive of the one person who gave her his attention. That was Aakash who shared a special bond with him.
After seeing Payal and Aakash's closeness, Bubbly wanted to create differences between and succeeded in creating differences. Maamiji is a shrewd found out what Bubbly was up to. When Payal found about Bubbly she looked upon her as a daughter and forgave her whole-heartedly. This impressed Maamiji very much.
Another incident was when her so-called friends were taunting Maamiji for falling down on the stage during a fancy dress competition. Payal, who could not tolerate the taunts of the friends said both she and her mother-in-law would participate in the competition. During the competition, Payal did not bother to act because she wanted to lose the competition because another participant who was in dire straits wanted the money. Kushi won the competition but also did not accept it for the same reason. Maamiji finally realized the goodness in both of them but not before some nautanki.

When Arnav was missing Kushi was very worried. Maamiji noticed this and when she confronted Kushi, Kushi told her that something must have happened to Arnavji. She also got a doubt and tried all the hotels in Scotland and came to the conclusion that he was not there. When she tried Arnav's phone then the message was in Hindi. Then she realized that Kushi was telling the truth. Both of them got down to do some detective work. She saw first hand how far Kushi could go to get Arnav back and how much she loved Arnav.

Both she and Kushi are so much alike. They are impulsive and can do anything for their loved ones. When she found out Arnav was kidnapped , the first thing she did was bring all her jewelry and some fixed bonds so that she could pay it as ransom. She really loves both her adopted children and will do anything for them.

After the entry of Daadiji she was a bit sympathetic I think towards Kushi, because she went through it but not in such a harsh manner. After Anjali's mishap when Anjali wanted Shyam back Arnav was not willing to bring him back. He warned everybody that nobody could get Shyam into the house.
But after Anjali's Bhook Hartal, and her deteriorating condition Kushi went and brought back Shyam. She realized that Kushi whatever Kushi did was for the family betterment and has whole-heartedly accepted both the sisters.
Manorama Maamiji has a good sense of houmor, loves to go to the spa and is famous for her one liners. All these traits I will keep for another day. I just wanted to highlight the change in Manorama Singh Raizada to Manorama Maamiji.
