Maybe that's how he finds it? If it had been left lying in Anjali's room who is to say Shyam wouldn't have taken it away for safe keeping?

Maybe when HP keeps it in the storeroom he turns it upside down and finds it and returns it to Arnav because he doesn't want to risk meeting with Anjali who is in a delicate situation? 😊
