Well every now and then I read a post by a newbie who is quitting due to so and so reasons or quittig for not getting any response.
Of course I understand why it happens. Many of us do not read posts by newbies sometimes, me included. But in my case I often respond to posts that are interesting to me and has nothing to do with new or old. But yes, when one is used to some people, one knows the post will be good and interesting. So naturally we open theirs first.
So I thought what the! We all started as newbies and if we have come this far, so can they. So the thing is no body is different...it is just that we all do things differently.
And having become some kind of a post maker (or post master😊) I thought why not devote one post to the newbies.
This is also a direct result of a newbie's post which I read that she is all alone. Made me feel sad.
So, I planned this for long, but thought Sunday is the perfect time as we are free from episode hangover,
So here are some tips. These are things I follow and you may or may not follow them. But if it helps you, I will be glad.
- Choose a topic which is strong and relevant. The 'OMG' topics and 'Barun' or 'Sanaya' topics will get you readers once or twice. But it cannot sustain every time.
- Don't trick people. Don't make a topic which says 'News' and then give nothing important inside or say 'Spoiler' and make a joke. Thing is people will open it once but gradually they will not take you seriously.
- Develop a distinct writing style. How you write and what you write is what people read your topics for. If you make pic posts, then too add some nice lines and it adds the flavour.
- Do not worry about comments. The idea is to keep making posts that are relevant. One day people will sit up and take notice.
- Reply to people who comment. Personally I think people invest their time in replying to a topic. You should honour them with a reply. Of course at times you can't reply to each person. But as far as possible try.
- Avoid bashing posts. Here I mean bashing real people or real actors. Of course characters and story and directors will be criticized. The thin line of difference between bashing and criticism is your language and tone. Saying things politely, though they are not what people want to hear, is a big art. If anyone does it in your thread, you are ot responsible. But try to gently tell them to avoid bashing. You see bashing posts will give you one or two good threads and comments. But in the long run people respond to polite tones.
- Try to follow your heart. If your heart says this is the right thing to say, then say it. Don't make a post on things which you don't believe in just because it is popular. For example 'I believe in the CV' posts. If you really believe in them it will show in your writing. But if you just state it, then people are not likely to believe it or take interest in it.
- Don't be disheartened by one mistake or one bashing by commentors or even multiple mistakes and bashing. We are all humans and we all learn from mistakes. The idea is to stick around and never give up.
- Choose a catchy heading. That does not mean 'News' and 'Spoilers' and 'Arnav came to my house yesterday' etc. You will not get much comments on these. Be careful about choosing your headings.
- As said, always come back and honour your readers with likes and comments.
...So newbies...never give up and never lose heart and never make futile topics...and you are likely to succeed
And most important...
Don't think you are a newbie. Believe that you are a sizzler in the making😊😊😊
And remember this is just India forums and not TV or radio...celebrity status here is not that important neither does it last! So don't feel worried or upset if you do not succeed by any chance!
All the best👍🏼
PS: This is a long lecture I know😊Blame it on my habit!
