Coming back to the marriage topic, you are absolutely right about the sanctity of marriage being eroded. The problem is that people are living a fast life. We have no patience. So if anything is not working, people tend to either end it without even trying to make it work or they deviate to infidelity.
Marriage is not the only way of being / proving truthful. But like you said somethings are ingrained in our blood and we can't get them out of our system. This is the very reason why we have even the most cynical of women dreaming of being loved and accepted. We all are looking for acceptance- both men and women.
For me marriage is more like a closure. It is yes, of course a beginning of life together but I somehow feel that it is a conclusion. I believe in Churchill's comment, "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning".
