I might miss episodes here and there, preferring to see them all on a lazy Saturday. But I never miss logging into I-Forums every night--not to read all the posts, but to see the state of the writers--to see how many OS and SS and FFs have suddenly come out like mushrooms after rain, who has written what, who has been forced to write.
As a snob of the English language, myself, I have to say this- I don't necessarily read everything everyone posts-I have my favorites and stick to those writers. But yeah--I open every OS or SS to see one thing-
To see what the general theme is in terms of mood and setting.
Happy and cute with lots of besharmi scenes tossed in for those extra "like" hits? Dark as all hell, with lashings of rainy scenes, and dark screams in the night and the fictional Khushi / Arnav (usually both) dying in the end? Half baked sex scenes written by curious teenagers who've recently read their first adult book and are all hot and flustered about the mechanics?
I've waded through gems and suffered through tripe. But my point is--All these months, there have been WRITINGS.
We all know that when the forum erupts with OS and SS and FF one after the other, as fans who hated written assignments while in college are suddenly frowning before a word document and typing away until the buzzing in their head stops--that is the sign of a worked up audience.
But take a look at the way we've greeted the recent redemption/ Khushi leaving / Anjali being a crazy nutjob track. Its like--the air has gone out. People are posting angry bashing posts and rabid hate her/dont hate her posts. Or really stupid bland comments and personal messages. But the imagination...its missing.
This is alarming, and the CVs and 4 Lions should stop focusing on whether Gautam Hedge knows PR (ANSWER--HE DOESN'T) or is Aakash getting his Twitter Feed right or if Daljeet/ Sanaya is the lead. Thats not what'll keep them on-air.
We will. Or we wont, depending on what we feel.
So--quick question... how many people are feeling inspired? How many writers are turning to this serial every night for that shot in the arm, for that sudden image that shoots through the brain and comes out in their work? That spurs them to do their updates, makes them mad, in a good way?
Thats the real danger for the CVs--They should get nervous when they see that the show that has for over a year inspired some of the most passionate writing and imaginative work among its FANS is suddenly...running on empty.
The imagination of the Production House, their originality and original story arc fed our forum and our writers. We were inspired before Anjali and Payal and Akash the Asshole story lines suddenly popped up and drove us into silence. But its time the original story that gave us so much hope and inspiration returned to its track. We can TELL when you CVs and Creatives flounder and run out of steam. We can TELL that that is happening right now.
Seriously, THIS silence from the forum writers is the danger sign-not your hate mail, but our creative indifference. You have been warned 4 Lions. Don't kill the root or the plant will wither. Already many leaves have started to sway in the wind.
