OS- I Need You
Arnav searched through the old battered garage and the compounds of the noisy houses as it drizzled slowly, his mind engrossed with a thousand questions, she had lied to him and this time she successfully left without being questioned or stopped by him. When he had stopped by Buaji's place he found out that she was perfectly fine and there was no rise in her blood pressure or anything at all so what the hell was Khushi up to?, why had she lied to the whole family and most importantly, where was she now?
Arnav drove through the narrow streets of Lakshmi Nagar, he taught things were finally settling down between them, or was it just him fooling himself into thinking that she would easily forget? he wondered quietly. He drove back to the Gupta House unsuccessful in finding Khushi elsewhere, he slammed the door of the car and looked around again, it was dark and where was she at this time, was she safe.
He stopped as he saw her standing in the veranda, her eyes closed and her face lifted to receive the first drops of the monsoon. He walked up to her angrily and grabbed her by her elbows as her eyes suddenly flew open in shock, 'Why the hell did you lie to me?' he gritted out as she watched him silently, not looking down in embarrassment or trying to throw an insult at him but she just stood there staring at him blankly her eyes refusing to give answers.
'Answer me dammit' he said in a controlled stern voice, trying hard to hold on to the last vestiges of his patience, she refused to say anything and simply stared back, not reacting at all. 'What is wrong with you Khushi, when I ask you something, answer me' he said threateningly and looked down into her stubborn defiant eyes.
'Can you just stop looking at me like that and tell me what's wrong, why are you here?, why did you lie to me?, Everything was alright wasn't it then what the hell is your damn problem, do I have to repeat myself again' he bit out menacingly, his voice barely rising above a whisper. He watched her flinch and her eyes shift briefly for a second and then she looked up again at him and said quietly.
'What answers do you want Mr.Raizada, our contract was over yesterday and yes I have been counting the number of months so don't you dare tell me I'm wrong, I owe you nothing anymore' she whispered, He looked at her eyes which had turned cold, he couldn't fathom what he saw in them anger, defiance, no this time it was something even more deadly and threatening.
'I asked you not to leave Khushi, I told you I wanted you with me forever' he said calmly, she simply laughed mockingly 'What do you think of me, I am not your soft toy to stay by you when you want me and then be thrown away when you think its right, I will not listen to threats regarding Payal's martial life, she is capable of handling it on her own and if mere cruel words from your mouth can put an end to it then let it be so, you snatched away everything and yet I gave you a chance but no you're the ruthless Arnav Singh Raizada who does not give a damn about what he says or what his words do to people' she said her voice rising with every word.
'Oh and your venomous words have taught me that some people can never be changed, heartless and cruel that's what you are and always be' she whispered pushing him away from her. Arnav caught hold of her wrist 'I am trying to change things between us' he whispered as the thunder rumbled announcing the arrival of a downpour.
She turned back 'By doing what, throwing gifts in my face, shoving cake down my throat or by not even bothering for once to apologize for dragging me to the alter and forcefully getting married to me' she screamed, Arnav realized in that one moment that he had done nothing, he had been taking her for granted all over again, she was right, he had done absolutely nothing about the whole thing, he watched as her eyes turned red, her tears disguised by the rain, he knew she was crying, he had broken her once again and this time it left him feeling wounded and pained.
She turned around to go and started walking quickly, he covered the distance in a few strides and pulled her back 'I'm sorry' he said in a broken voice, 'Don't you think its a little too late' she asked with a mock laugh, 'Khushi' he whispered 'I know its late, I know this is all wrong, what I did was wrong, I was blind and totally foolish and I never gave you a chance', 'You never did so how do you expect me to be your wife and pretend that I'm happy when the man that I'm living with can also go to the extent of willingly believing that I am capable of acting like a wh**e and breaking his sisters marriage, how do you expect me to forget all that and stay with you' her voice quivered as her tears flowed endlessly but still remained unseen because of the pouring rain.
'I love you Khushi' he said finally in a soft voice, he had given up on words which did nothing anymore, the damage done was beyond repair by mere futile explanations, 'How easy it is for you to say those words Arnav ji, well let me tell you one thing love means trusting the person, love means keeping them safe from hurt but you know what the only person who has hurt me so much that at times I fear whether I'll be able to rise up again is you, you have broken me, totally crushed me and now you tell me that you love me' she yelled and slumped to the ground not able to take all of this anymore, she was tired, she was tired of it all.
Arnav pulled her up slowly as she slumped against him and sobbed, her cries painful and heartbreaking. 'Khushi I'm sorry for everything, all I have ever done it push you away and this time I've gone too far, please forgive me' he said in a broken whisper and hung on to her 'I can't live without you, I need you Khushi, I have hurt you and its so unfair of me to expect you to still stay by me, but that is what I need to keep breathing, to keep living' he said as her cries grew louder and she clutched on to his jacket unable to take it all, her respect or her need for this man who took everything away from her but yet her unfaithful heart decided to love him, the person who crushed her the most.
Arnav made her look up 'This time I promise to love you like I should, I promise to bring back all those smiles and I promise to wash away all the pain' he said looking into her eyes, thankful to the rain that hid his tears. Khushi simply closed her eyes and whispered 'I can't do this anymore Arnavji, I can't, I can't love you anymore'. 'Khushi please don't do this, I need your love, I need it more than anything, please believe me' he said quietly and pleaded with his eyes as she looked up at him defeated and lost, he bent down and kissed her softly on her lips. 'I'll bring back everything you lost' he whispered and looked into her sad eyes as she simply turned around and left him standing in the pouring rain, 'I'll bring you back' he whispered watching her disappear into the house as the rain washed over his face and left him wishing that he had not broken her so much.
