was thinking, arnav and khushi are actually a lot like each other, aren't they. both have suffered extreme loss at a young age. felt a similar kind of pain, each has lost both parents suddenly on the same day. each has found a way to deal with this blinding and deadening trauma.

his feelings choked up stay in an unknown corner inside, its outer manifestation, that sudden irrational anger, and the move away from the divine, the supernatural; he makes his own destiny. because god cannot be trusted to come up with a good, just plan. if god had, there would not be so much injustice in this bedard duniya. such a god is not deserving of his vishwas.

khushi deals with her sad, shocked core, her breaking of trust in her way. she hides behind laughter, madness, her sanak. and she gives all of herself to those she loves. in their happiness she finds hers. she will do anything for them as long as god will keep them safe. she can't face another loss of a dear one any more. all her fears, her apprehensions, her sense of abandonment she's tried to convert to a feeling of love for those now in her life. while arnav closed his arms and his heart to survive, she's opened them wide, but for the same reason. to be able to live through this hurt filled life of hers. perhaps that's why she gets attached to those she likes quickly and deeply.
and she needs her faith in god, that solidity of her murti gives her a sense of existence itself. she who has no family of her own, no blood ties, has created her own mother of clay, and she is as real to her as any woman of flesh and blood.

curiously vulnerable both yet principled, bold, loving, dependable, generous, extremely caring of their families, tending toward selflessness, innocent. they deal with hurt differently, but in other ways i find them so similar. wonder which side in each calls out to the other. the part in them that knows pain or the the essential nobility of both their souls?
