"I can't believe your dad was summoned by the principal! What did you do?" Khushi asked Ashar as soon as the trio of Arnav, Ashar and Asmara walked in the doors from their school.
"And why?" Arnav added taking his seat on the sofa.
"It's no big deal" Ashar replied dismissing the topic.
Khushi looked at Arnav. "He was caught beating someone from Asmara's class'" he explained dryly clearly tired of hearing the principal's lecture himself. He wasn't used to being lectured, but had to go through a petty violence-will-not-be-tolerated-in-our-school kind because of Ashar. Khushi's eyes widened; her lips forming a perfect 'O'.
"Relax mom!" Ashar said
"You be- is that what we have taught you?" Ashar rolled his eyes ready for the drama.
"Khushi-" Arnav tried but it was a wasted effort.
"No Arnav! Hey devi maiyya! Today he beat someone' tomorrow he'll murder someone'"
Now Arnav rolled his eyes, while Ashar cried out "mom, I am not murdering anyone!"
"Everyone calm down!" Arnav said, noticing Asmara fuming. "I'd like to know what happened; the entire truth" he said looking at his son "and how you" he said turning towards Asmara "got involved?"
"You were also involved?" Khushi asked incredulously. She never believed her daughter to be capable of such a thing. Of course she didn't even imagine Ashar being involved in such a case, but then he was Arnav's carbon copy so she should have been ready for anything!
"Everything is bhai's fault! He is the reason I'll be the laughing stock of the class'Ask him!" she cried out.
They all turned towards her brother.
He gave Asmara a if-you-rather look and Asmara instantly regretted snapping out.
"A guy was asking Asmara out, I saw it and told him-"
"A guy was asking Asmara out?" Khushi echoed shocked. Arnav bit back a smile.
"So I told him to stay away from her' he pushed me and then the things got out of hand'" he explained in a disinterested tone ignoring her mother's interruption. It wasn't his plan of getting his sister in such a situation but it was what she brought on herself
"Asmara?" her mother turned towards her with a questioning glare.
"Mumma, he was only asking me to accompany him for a cup of coffee! It was no big deal! Bhai got involved creating an unnecessary drama'" she replied irritably. Things were clearly getting out of hand.
Her mother was left speechless, and her father was'
"Dad?" she called out.
"Did you really beat him because he asked your sister out?" Arnav asked. Was he amused? His daughter thought.
"Yeah. Wasn't that the thing you told me when you first introduced my kid sister to me?!" Ashar asked in an attempt of explaination. Arnav laughed in response. Ashar had definitely grown to be the brother he expected of him' to always look out for trouble before it fell on his sister just like him. Khushi was clearly torn between the subject of a guy asking her "masoom si bachhi" out and her son getting involved in fights. What was worse? And Asmara was clearly outraged!
"You asked bhai to spy in me when I was a new born?" she cried out. "Well, that explains everything. Thanks dad!" she concluded putting up her hands in sheer annoyance and exasperation. She picked up her bag and left for her room. Her life from tomorrow will be a misery in school. And no guy is going to ask her for coffee or date or for the senior prom when the time would come; and she particularly liked this guy!
"What did I do?" Arnav asked khushi.
"Well, like father like daughter!" khushi replied. "Now you'll have to convince your princess' and believe me she is going to be a hard nut to crack!"
Just let me know what you people thought of it' ok??
