Dignity of Labour: Every job is respectful
| ||
| ||
We have heard the phrase 'dignity of labour' many times. But have we really paid attention to what it really means? Well, it tries to emphasize the fact that no job should be considered big or small. And if your work provides for your living, then you and your job should be respected by one and all.
Unfortunately, many in our country consider people who work in a manual job as inferior and hence even the people themselves doing these jobs develop an inferiority complex. This mentality should be changed and done away with it as it hampers the progress of the individual as well as the country. We should try to practice what we preach, by ourselves doing the chores in our own home as this will help us stay humble and also build respect for people who do these jobs.
Here are five ways in which you can truly follow the saying - dignity of labour:
1. Respect your work and put in all your effort to do your job efficiently
2. Do your work honestly and sincerely
3. Do not look down on others, especially those who have manual jobs like your domestic help, labourers, sweepers, masons etc
4. If given a task, do not label it as below your level and instead fulfill it by giving your 100 percent
5. Spread awareness and teach others around you to respect people from all other professions
One important aspect to remember is that there is no shame in doing a job, no matter what it entails but it should be done with dignity and respect.
