SS: Race - Part 8
As promise another update in the nick of time 😉 And some good news! I have already started working on the ninth part and will be posting it within a few hours whenever I get the chance again, consider this a gift for being such avid and supportive readers 😊
Anyways I'm sure you want to get to the story...So Here It Is! Enjoy!
Recap:
During this rant Arnav had released Khushi and she had been pacing the room. She finally collapsed onto the ground, her tears back. Arnav rushed to her, grabbing her face in his hands. Khushi looked up, her hands came up over his,
"I don't want to lose you Arnav, not again, not on my behalf. If they find out I love you then they'll come after you too, what's more is that your not ordinary person, your the Arnav Singh Raizada. They will get to you before anyone else I know...I love because what you mean to me and your status in society. I can't...I just can't lose you Arnav...I won't Arnav...not again." Khushi whispered defeated, fainting in Arnav's arms.

Arnav stared at her beautiful face, a face that was always adorned with a beautiful smile, a smile that seemed to have gone into hiding.
Never once in all the years they had been apart had Arnav thought so much could have happened to Khushi. She was practically living on the edge of her life here, ready to fall into nothingness any second. He had left his Khushi to singlehandedly fight off all her demons, not just for herself but for those close to her as well.
Arnav remembered Khushi as his little fighter since the first day the met, back when he was in the third grade and she in first. Sure she was emotional an dramatic sometimes...more like most of the time, but when it came down to it Khushi could and would do anything for her loved ones.
*Flashbacks*
"Khushi? How are you feeling?" Payal asked, unable to met her best friends eyes. She eyed the bandages adorning her best friend's forehead, a blotch of blood visible. Khushi noticed Payal's sullen face.
Khushi had pushed her best friend out of the way when a tempo had been coming at her, showing low signs of stopping. Neither had been hit but Khushi had hit her head pretty hard against the concrete as she and Payal stumbled to the ground.
"Payal? This is not your fault. I did what I had to as your best friend. And if I hadn't instead of you visiting me in mere bandages, we'd we setting fire to your pyre. Now you tell me which is better? I'd rather be in pain for a few weeks than live the rest of my life with the pain of losing my best friend and guilt of doing nothing when I should have." Khushi looked into Payal's eyes, her voice a whisper but her words rang louder than church bells in Payal's ears, who was now hugging the life out of her best friend, as both their boyfriends looked on.

"Khushi! Stop fidgeting!" Arnav scolded as her tried to get a better look at her wrist.
"Arnav! I'm fine! Now let me go!" Khushi whined right back. Arnav twisted her wrist slightly to see if she had sprained it when, "Ouch! Ouch, ouch, ouch, Ouch!"
"See! I told you had hurt yourself!" Arnav muttered glaring at Khushi who looked back at him innocently. "What was the need to punch him in the face! Your completely mad! You know that right? You could have fracture it or something! Why can't you just act like a normal person! Ugh, what was the need!"
Khushi's eyes welled up with tears as Arnav continue yelling at her. She looked away as she whishpered, "Because he was going to hurt you."
Arnav eyes snapped up from Khushi's now bandaged wrist to her eyes. Upon seeing her tears Arnav cursed himself for being the reason for them once again, unintentionally but the reason all the same.
He gathered her onto his lap, "Shh, sshh, don't cry Khushi. I'm sorry." She had punched that guy for him, because he threatened to hurt him. "I know why you did it but you know I can't stand seeing you in pain, hurting. It kills me, Khushi."
"It kills me, too Arnav, to see you hurt." she whispered back leaning into him.
*End Flashbacks*
She had done enough of protecting herself and everyone around her. He was back now and it was his turn to protect her.
*The Next Morning*
Khushi woke up, blinking against the sunlight coming through window. She slowly sat up when her head jumped against something. She looked up to see Arnav sleeping against the headboard. His lips and forehead set into a frown.
She frowned, she hated seeing him stressed an upset. She leaned up and kissed away the frown from his forehead, she lowered her lips to his, hesitating for a moment before kissing him.
Arnav's eyes snapped open at the sudden sensations he was feeling against his lips. He saw Khushi, who was kissing him. And with that all thought left his mind as her kissed her back.
Minutes later, they both moved back, breathless, staring into each others eyes.
"Wow" Arnav whispered causing a blush to creep up her neck and into her cheeks. She looked away, shy, past memories taking over both of them.
They both sat there for a while before Arnav told her they should get ready. He left, giving her a sweet kiss on her forehead.
They both met at the dining table after getting ready, Arnav had given her some of his Di's old clothes from before she had gotten married.
They both sat there at the dining table, they both knew they had to talk about last night, Arnav had to tell her he knew and Khushi had to tell him she knew more.
Sooo, Dont throw sandals at me! I know this was short and aburtly ended but otherwise it would have been extremely long and I think that would have been confusing and stressful to take in all the information I wanted to give to keep the story fast-paced and exciting just like it's title 😉 And that's also the reason I will give you guys another update in the next few hours!😃
