..bet no one here ever linked the two...
I normally don't take to writing for telly shows. Anyone who has read my previous posts- one a response to a thread and a dozen more when I started a thread of my own recently- will vouch that my grouse has never been with the show and so you can read on assured that there shall be no negativity on this post.
Above explains, I don't write in much here .When I do though, I tend to be descriptive and very wordy. So maybe this can double up as a good weekend read ahead of the return of our prodigal hero.
With fictions and in that daily soaps, my primary instinct is to react, impulsively or not, to wrongful portrayals that leaves the door uncomfortably wide open for misinterpretations, superficially where concerning the story line of the show but to a keener eye concerning issue that run deeper than shallow waters in a brook.
We often end up an angry and stressed bunch at IF, what with spoilers, rumors, TB articles, SBB segments and their voice overs, basically such related topics clouding the perceptions of our otherwise peaceful selves.
And of course we hear of how its difficult to walk a mile in someone else's shoe's, namely the PH/CV.
Thankfully I am not an obsessive fan of the show. A regular someone who enjoys the chemistry between lead pairs and tolerates the rest of monkeying around with the script. Albeit, I do blow up occasionally. Which is fair I guess.
This is not a prediction. This is not a suggestion. This is merely my take on how an integral aspect of the show can still be salvaged, namely 'Daljeet's', aka, 'Anjali's', aka 'Poojali- to some' character.
If the actor has chosen to opt out of the show , I commend her timing. With TRP's mimicking tidal waves pattern, Barun's absence, increased dependency on Sanaya, sub plots failing miserably if there was any time that Daljeet the actor asks the CV's to bail out her character; then it is now. As an actor, a professional and anyone serious about their career graph it's the right move.
The poor woman has forever been the 'adorable dumb blonde'. The dripping with honey talks , the emotional blackmail acts she pulls off and the forever worrisome nature of Anjali has gotten onto many a nerves here.
And now with a possible detour of MU track between Anjali and Khuhsi, I read up a lot of hatred for the lady , as the character Anjali and as the actor Daljeet for threatening to quit the show.
Wouldn't one be as selfish for their career, when promised the moon only to be used as a prop? You say, NO? Hmm...To all the saints out there, you are precious lot. In today's time and age we need more folks like you. Come to think of that .Especially around me. I could use a breather from all that cut throat competition and simply walk all over you to get myself a notch higher, not to be in a rat race with anyone else but just because I could use that promotion.
Remember that the story line went through somersaults and cartwheels to accommodate Barun's aspirations outside of television. Adoration and the 'well deserved' aside, with due respect to all BS/ASR maniacs, what harm could possibly befall the show if Anjali's character was straightened out to someone with a spine and more importantly a brain- one that works just fine..no wait ..normal. More so when you can have idiots breezing in and out ( read...Bubbly and Maasla mama.. no offense to the actors).
All they have to build in their script even now is to have Anjali justify her damp and meek act. The mystery that shrouds the "why" of her marriage to creepwa ( as he is referred to with much love) can remain intact. If she is indeed on her notice period, her absence and the 'blink and you miss ' appearances in the last coupe of weeks can be explained by showing how she has been investigation all along the suspicious actions and reactions of her husband.
Justifying her sleuth act would be events that triggered it: To name a few-
- Number of times he slipped away or missed meeting Khushi.
- Reasons for and alarming regularity with which he dipped his hand into the honeypot ( namely the joint account).
- Shashi's reaction on meeting her for the first time. A person however sick is otherwise calm and collected but freaks on sighting you, in which part of the solar system does that not ring a bell to anyone?
- The engagement ring, meant for Anjali but found its way to Khushi.
Maybe she overhears some phone conversation, see's or meets someone from a previous introduction when Shyam was by her side. An email maybe. She intercepted, not willfully of course, Khuhsi-Arnav's 'Rakshas -Sundari ' letter convo, but can she not have come across at least one single receipt, letter , note in the many years of her matrimony to have bring out those horns? The jeweller calls back, whereabouts from the non existent friend meeting with an accident doesn't add up, running into the lady whom Anjali gave the money when SMJ bullshited his way about the needy.
Well, just about anything that gets one thinking. There are a million things one can latch onto and yet her character remains one of the dumbest in the script. Beating her to it is Payal's and gong by recent episodes ,seriously giving a run for it.
And yet Anjali can be shown blissfully unaware about Shyam and Khushi's connection. That can still keep the MU tangent aka 'tadka' alive until the Shyam-Arnav-Khushi show down ( or should that be shot downđ)
She can back it up with the theory that with an adoring family like her's, an ultra possessive bro like Arnav she did not wish to disturb the harmony at home. The family has always been worried ,what with her disability, and rallied around in her slightest moment of discomfort, and hence she did not wish to bring about her husband's deceitful act to the forefront. Maybe she doesn't want to be pitied anymore.
( And ooh do not trivialize that last statement. I have experienced that facet of life. Following an accident I decided to quit my job at the peak of my career because people I had known and grown with in 5 years turned charitable. I had a broken neck and with an aside to the almighty with many thanks ,may I state that you would rather wish you were dead than to have people denying you, say a well deserved promotion in my case, your due only because they think you are limited in your abilities here on. Juxtapose that with Anjali's standing in the family. She is differently abled (can't think of any other word now), has a husband living in with her maternal family , one that took them in when the greedy folks of their dad threw them out( for someone as cultured and tradition bound as her why is she not in her in laws or at least a different house, and no ASR can not be the reason. She knows when exactly to put her foot down).
With this possibly the next best twist running parallel to the sorry ( instead of the silly Payal-Akash bonding) even Daljeet/ anyone filling in her shoes can be assured of a meaty role ahead with an entire spectrum of acting abilities awaiting to be displayed.
So, does this theory still seem flawed?
