Happy Birthday, Love
Khushi jumped out of bed hoping that the day would be special, wishing for loads of happiness.
She opened her eyes and looked around searching for Arnav wondering what woke him up so early, she did not like waking up alone especially not today.
She ran down the stairs expecting him to be waiting for her, but she halted when she found the dining table with everyone seated except Arnav. Hari Prakash informed her that Arnav had left for an important meeting. To say that Khushi was disappointed would be an understatement, she was literally burning with fury wondering how the Laad Governor heartlessly forgot her birthday. Payal called out to her saying' Happy birthday Khushi, I made your favorite dishes' she added with a smile.
Khushi pasted a smile to her face and tried to bask in the attention she was receiving but she could not push the anger out of her mind. 'Khushiji where's Chotey, he must have been the first one to wish you right?' Anjali asked with a wink, Khushi merely nodded and walked up the stairs trying to keep a check on her anger.
She checked her phone for calls and only found a text saying 'Sorry had an important meeting, good morning'. This pissed her off even more, now she was certain that he had forgotten, the Rakshas claimed to love her everyday but could not even remember her birthday.
She decided to go to Lakshi Nagar and get her mind off things, she was not going to spoil the day by thinking of Arnav.
Buaji and Garima tried hard to brighten Khushi's mood, Bujai kept wondering why her Sanka Devi was being oddly quiet. Khushi tried to indulge herself in the loads of Jalebi's and Golgappa's kept in front of her but the rage within her kept boiling, threatening to overflow and destroy the mean Rakshas.
She left for Shantivan in the evening, waiting to give the Laad Governor a piece of her mind. She bursted in wondering why everything was eerily quite. She threaded slowly, towards her room wondering where everyone left.
She pushed open her door and was met with a sight that stole her breath away. Arnav stood there with that heart melting smile of his holding a bunch of yellow and red roses waiting to take her into his arms. She walked towards him slowly, still not getting over the anger.
'What took you so long to remember?' she asked glaring up at him, he pulled her close, kissed her temple and whispered 'I never forgot'. She smiled at him, happy and content that he remembered.
'So birthday girl, get ready to be surprised' he said softly, she could not help but look at him happily with expectant eyes. He pulled her towards the poolside which was lighted up and decorated just the same way as it was not many years ago on a Diwali night. In the middle was a table set for two and Khushi immediately recognized what was on the menu. They talked endlessly, giggling over the craziest things and smiling at each other and thinking that they are the luckiest people in the world.
Arnav held her hand an led her to the other side of the pool, where on a table sat a heart shaped cake and a closed large booklet. Arnav indicated with his eyes for her to open it. She turned over the pages, it contained sketches of times that brought them close, memories that would forever be etched in their hearts. The time she fell off the ramp into his arms, under which he had written in an understandable scrawl' the eyes that captured my soul' the time he saved her in the rain ' the first time I realized the need to hold you close' and the Teej incident where he broke her fast ' The first time I felt the urge to keep you by my side and never let you go' the Nainital trip ' The crazy girl that made me love', the sangeet 'I held you close and danced, not to make you win but to have you as mine' and many more sketches that filled her eyes with tears and love for the man she was so lucky to have as hers. She closed it reading the last sentence ' To have you in my life is the greatest joy I could have asked for, to hold you close is the only warmth I love, to make you smile and laugh is all I want to do and to have you love me is what makes me live, I love you Khushi'
She threw her arms around him and melted into his embrace, he smiled and cupped her cheek and looked into her eyes and whispered over her lips 'Happy Birthday Love' and kissed her softly reminding her that she meant the world to him.
Okay I know its very cliched but felt like writing something lovey dovey today. Please like/comment it will mean a lot to me.😃
