The Unsung Heroes

Dint think after the wonderful Dabang episode of Friday '. The excitement quotient could be maintained ' but woe begone ' Khan Sahab u managed to do it & do it in Style '

Wow the first few minutes of the episode were simply mind boggling ' the intense action .. the struggle ' the intrigue' will he be unmasked wont he be unmasked '.. made the start of the episode more than mere thrilling'. All superbly capped by Barun Dreamboat Sobti's wonderful performance' & drooly good looks '.

Finally '. The moment happened'.. the unmasking of the villain .. of the Boss .. of the kidnapper ' Shyam Manohar Jha ' the whole unmasking was extremely beautifully & artfully shot ' the layers of Shyam unfolding .. with the layers of his whole kidnapping plan.. right from his sighting of Arnav' s will to the moment of moving Arnav to another location '. Khan sahab made us travel the whole distance 'of Shyam's nefarious plans '' along with the unveiling of Shyam the villains face'.

So many times when we watch a serial & then finally connect with it .. we are lost in the brilliance of only that' that is in front of us ' the actors'

Today the whole day every fan or follower of IPK discussed only one thing the possibility of Daljeet leaving ' & who would replace her '.

I wanted to take this opportunity to dedicate a write up to the guys ' who make us NOT want Daljeet to quit ' not because it is Daljeet Bhanot ' its because we cant imagine an IPK without Anjali Jha ' We all feel Daljeet is perfect as Anjali .. she has the look ' how many of us have worried that the person giving that look the Stylist of the show shud'nt leave ' she is ultimately the person giving her the classy look. When we see the "chemistry" between Arnav & Anjali ' we rejoice ' but what is chemistry ' but not great a mixture of good direction, good shot taking .. good camera work, good screenplay & good dialogues ' & of course good acting ... but the behind the scenes work tends to take a back seat ...

(please note this post is in no way undermining the actors role in the success of a serial .. nor am I inspired by Gautam's rant ' it is just after an episode where the maker was king I wanted to come out & shout out about their brilliance)

For me what I took back from the episodes purely from a technical aspect were the 2 sequences .. first the initial fight scene in kidnappers den & subsequent unveiling of Shyam & Khushi's interaction with Devi maiyya' & my post is written primarily with these 2 sequences in mind '

Todays episode marked the coming of age of Arshad Khan as the director of the show '. The first 5 minutes absolved you today of all the past mistakes ' the whole fight sequence was brilliantly shot ' the shot construction .. camera placement & angles .. the use of slow motion ' made the whole sequence just burst out with brilliance ' the First box on Arnav ' & the use of high speed ( slow motion) for the box to complete & Arnav's face moving ' had the biggest impact on me ' I was like Shree Ganesh itna achha hai to pura episode toh brilliant hi hoga.

What amazingly good lighting today Gandhiji .. ( even though the trademark Guru dutt lighting ' (shaft of light from a window pane) was used) ' the whole soft grey tone lighting ' the highlight lighting of Arnav's face when one of the goons boxed him ' the shadow play lighting when arnav was beating up the goons was simply brilliantly executed ' The best part of the lighting effect today was the blue carpet used on the floor ' it just added the most amazing hue to the whole fight sequence ' it made an already fantastic scene ' aesthetically brilliant.

Madam Ganga & Sir Amit ' please take a bow the editing was simply superb today '. What perfect cuts today '. Infact the entire post production was par excellent ' brilliant cuts specially when Arnav gets the first box on his face ' when Arnav starts beating up the goons ' & finally when the hero falls .. all brilliantly edited ' But today the piece de resistance was the use of flashbacks through out the episode be It Shyam's or Khushi's it was fantastically executed without a single jerk '

Specially Shyam's FB's loved the whole construction of the sequence ' the unveiling of Shyam .. the fab movement of the rocking chair ( so reminiscent of a big bad villain on his throne) ' the walk of Shyam in the room all interspersed with him recalling his nefarious plans '.all tied up perfectly ' with all the right FB's used. After a long time today the editing was in synch with what was shot on the set ... the scenes were laid out in perfect harmony and synchrony ... to put it simply the scenes flowed logically from one to the other ... without any filler shots (close ups added) made the whole viewing so seamless ... pls use this as ur reference point in future too ...

The sequence of Khushi walking to the temple today ' again another landmark scene '.

( 2 in a day Khan sahab u were on a roll) it was beautifully & poignantly shot like when she walked away from her Devi Maiyya ' if in the walking away from DM sequence the lighting & sound mixing played a strong role ' then in todays walking towards DM ' the heroes were the dialogues which were just emotionally perfect ' conveyed every nuance of Khushi's innocence'. her love for her hubby ' her angst .. her torture & above all her aloneness in all this ' her need for her best friends reassurance that all will be well ' a sign from DM'. the other thing that made this simple scene mind blowing was the clever editing ' the use of FB's was superb 'But the main thing that made this scene pop were ofcourse u Khan Sahab ' I know this cudnt have been written & this nuance was urs on the set .. the hesitation of Khushi when she steps in to meet her DM '. Wow fab fab fab ' u showed us your sensitive side so well here '. Today one could see a Khushi who is off her mind worrying for her husband ' u could see a Khushi so broken .. so lost ' that she had to turn to the one thing in her life that gives her strength .. one thing which gives her the courage to move forward in life her DM ' so broken is the girl that she hesitated to go there & ask for help ' I loved this to the bits ' its these small touches which makes a director brilliant ' & u did it today .

While technical brilliance was once again there for all of us to see '. There was someone silently'playing such an important role in todays episode ' infact if not for him .. the whole Arnav Khushi saga would sour ' it's the Music of IPK '.

Raju Singh ' what can I say about you that's not already been said ' no wonder Amitabh Bacchan is a fan '. Today the whole unveiling of Shyam was more brilliant because of the famous Shyam tune ' the music is so peppy ' so brilliant ' so different from any other trademark tunes used here for a villain ... that it comes out as a shocker ... but for me it sums up Shyam '

A man full of Greed ' a man full of cunning ' a man who is out & out BAD' a man who lusts after what is not his '

Raju sir if u immortalized Arnav Khushi love story with ur Rabba Ve .. then todays tune ' has elevated Shyam's character beautifully (I think it is the first time the whole tune was played out' CVs pls use this tune its fab)

But at the risk of getting beaten up on the forum ' I am going to write this next piece '.

For me the shot of the day was Arnav falling before Shyam's chair & Shyam immediately putting his feet ( shoes) on his face '.

This was simply brilliant ' great technically & even greater thought ' recall my fridays analysis on Shyam's character '

The other is his ego : normally a parasite like him should not have much of an ego ... but our man does ... the whole 40K thingy proves that ... the fact that he wants the whole property now ... shows that the man has as big an ego as ASR ... & today we got a brilliant glimpse of the same ... in the precap ' His ego has been crushed time & time again by the Raizada wealth ' a violent man should react ' but he is waiting to attack he is planning an attack ( very bad at attack planning must say though ) ' because once again his Greed won over his EGO '

Shyam's character ' while shades keep getting unclothed ( pun intended) has remained constant throughout the time he has been shown as the villain of the piece.

Now look at the brilliance of the Creatives .. the two most important ( I call these important because we have only glimpsed these .. but will be most important to the story line) aspects of Shyam's nature .. His Mad Rage & His Ego ' find a parallel in our Hero as well ' both have monumental egos & both have monumental tempers ' & when they eventually clash ' it will be DABANG ' They are so similar yet only one thing differs in them '

One is GOOD & one is EVIL

I Kept wondering to my self '.these are the 2 most important aspects of Shyam's character & then why were they being veiled by the CV's ' & today the team goes & unveils this ' ASR dint fall at his feet ' he fell on the floor & Shyam quickly put his foot down ' to get Arnav on his feet ' Its not just about money here ' ( while GREED is the biggest factor driving Shyam) Look how his EGO was in play today ' he kept rubbing his cheek while remembering how he brought down ASR ' the same ASR who had slapped him ' he dint move an inch when Arnav came to try to unmask him 'he sat patiently '. Almost daring Arnav to come & unmask him ' Confident that he will get away with what he wants ... Wealth & Lust ( Money & KHushi)

For Shyam his EGO is driving him now .. it has come into play '. It would be one of the main reasons of his defeat as well ' a glimpse of which we saw today ' he let his EGO overpower him today .. when he moved his shoes to Arnav's face '. It was his EGO calling him to humiliate Arnav ' but what it did was it lead to .. his revelation ' Khushi saw the blood on his shoes when she bent to pick up DM's chunnari ..

But in no way is Shyam also resting on his laurels ' when Khushi comes back from the temple disturbed ' & Anjali questions her ' Shyam immediately jumps in enquiring off her .. if u noted his expressions '. He wanted to know what Khushi knows ' what she has managed to figure out & he almost breathes a sigh of relief when he hears Anjali saying its just worry for Arnav ' clearly indicating that our man does not trust Khushi' s will to find Arnav ' He is not Over Confident '. BUT BUT BUT ' His EGO is in play '.

( Abhaas ur truly taking the show on ur shoulders ... can't wait to see the clash of titans ... Dreamboat & the Titanic (Shyam) )

EGO which is also the biggest strength that ASR has '

The clash of EGOs is what we will be soon seeing between these two ..the whole bringing the EGO into play was very well executed Mr. Khan '

Will this EGO play of Shyam be the reason of his defeat ' with Arnav '

Will Arnav use his biggest strength his EGO to crush Shyam with his biggest weakness his EGO'
