Violence has always been over glorified in Indian Cinema and so in Indian TV too. No matter what the Hero's personality type is (aggressive or passive), he will always have a streak of this violence in him when faced with goonday.

We've been brought up to think the whole 'dishum-dishum' concept of violence as entertaining, and love scenes to be a taboo, when really, this is only influencing the younger generation negatively.

I think the next Satyamev Jayate epi should be on this 😆

Aaliyah

The next SJ I think is on cast couching and
Aamir wont show anything to boycott violence in Indian Cinema as this is his bread and butter 😆

The hero getting beaten up badly then at the end he gets up and thrashes down the bad guys is common scenario in movies...the level of violence has increased so much so, people nowadays have become kinda numb towards it unless it falls into the horror category.
Whereas romance in cinema and tv shows are always restricted , if there involves intimate scene it is given a A certificate , if there is smooch then it is UA.. Cos still we live in a country where public display of affection is frowned upon.
My take is that kids hormones gets hiked up with romance and mundane for violence...😆

great post. I don't understand how these thought processes came about that are so strongly bonded to our societies like super glue!

some of the things that inappropriately aged, young kids come across nowadays, romance and related stuff is too mild and I remember one member made a post after the hut promo - about this not being p*rn! seriously it isn't!

it can be a bit weird when parents are there cause thats how the environment has been since childhood and cause unease, but in the case of IPKKND its not even mildly explicit!

Totally agree with you. It is the stupidity of Indian Televison!

Personally I found the image in the precap of Arnav tied up with his head covered and then face down at the kidnappers feet very disturbing... its going to stay with me. I don't have kids but I would rather have my 14 year old niece watch an almost kiss (hell even a real kiss, they show worse on TV here) than watch that kind of torture happening.
I think the attitude to onscreen intimacy versus the attitude to onscreen violence in Hindi serials is very skewed, violence is glorified to an extent and yet intimacy is a big no-no. It seems it's ok and within social norms to show the main lead kidnapped, bound, threatened with a gun, blindfolded, drugged, beaten bloody - so that they can eventually show him bursting free in a blaze of glory and beating up all his opressors. And yet at the same time they wont allow him to share a kiss with his wife when he finally reunites with her after all that torture - because that's 'offensive/taboo/shows a bad example'...?! Go figure!
It doesn't really make sense to me, living in the UK and watching mainly US shows I find it hard to understand these differences, I guess people don't want to see intimacy because they feel it should stay behind closed doors?
I don't agree with it personally, violence can send out the wrong message in even worse ways, we're just much more used to seeing it on TV, in movies, on the news even, so it doesn't bother anyone enough to get worked up and protest... that itself speaks volumes in my opinion.

PS: These are just my personal opinions and general after-midnight musings, not meant to offend anyone...🤗

Firing a gun, kidnapping, is more rare to us. Romance can be censored, but not violence.

I guess in a way you've answered your own question. Guns, other weaponry and kidnappings aren't frequent occurrences for most people, so people have the belief that this is fiction and watch it for the sake of entertainment. Romance however, is a daily occurrence in real life which may affect nearly all viewers making this concept more realistic and tangible and thus more dangerous I guess. If love scenes are brandied about so casually, people will begin to feel more comfortable with the whole 'sex-talk' which again is frowned upon in Asian societies. It's a vicious circle of contradictions. I apologise if I'm making no sense 😆

What is concerning is that many kids in the US will use mom or dad's gun after watching violence. It gets very real.

This is what they fail to understand they think romance can be copied and it brings up feelings in open but they dont think same with weapons as well sigh this is reality in India
