Damn for Mr. Rational I am behaving quite irrationally. I was looking for your post all morning to write stuff about the episodes I saw last night (from the past) and the difference to today's stuff!!! This love affair with IPKKND is awesome and you know you are right on the money again. The love affair with IPKKND is so strong, I fought and got my connection in a brand new office! And when I head back to India I am going to do my best to stay connected to IPKKND and this forum. So I know you are on the same boat and to hell with rationality! So enjoy the bliss of irrationality!
Here is why:
1. I was watching the "pre-engagement with Lavanya (right after Deepavali" episodes where Arnav is bullying the girl to "submit" to him and be the first one to express "Love" -- I guess this is the only business where "first mover advantage" is not real for a party -- Women! Woman coming out and expressing love doesnt really work most of the time and the narcissistic guy was pushing that. The reason I explained this is how subtle this was especially in shot where he buys the jewelry that Khushi likes and puts it on Lavanya and says "mien ne tuhmari pasand ki cheez lavanya ko de di hain, I hope tumhe koi farak nahin padta" -- this is typical business power play!! This started around the 70th episode when he knew he wasnt able to shake the thoughts out of his head -- Very nice job by the writers -- brilliance in human emotions was clear here -- could be a very feminine thing that is so damn sentimental but effects all -- very real. This track was superb. Just superb. It was so subtle but aimed to break Khushi's spirit. Arnav, as you rightly said, wanted to see her break down and admit 'faraq padta hai' which she stubbornly wouldn't. I sometimes wonder if it is the same people who wrote the swami track. It was so real, it brought back memories of some personal stuff.
2. With portrayals like these this was a real Movie Material show that ran for over 65 hours till the had the brain fart. Agree. They had some serious relapse or perhaps they changed the writers
3. Now I think they dont have a way to bring it back other than try these filmy things because they did everything wrong for 2 months, and now they have bring back the two into a tussle at home. So, for that to happen they had to first take him out (more a schedule thing than anything) and then they had to re-inject him into the show. There is quite a bit more stupidity here with the facility storing sensitive material being locked with a single lock blah blah but we all know what they are trying to do -- bring it back home to start showing that "emotional struggle" in the subtle and "pulling" way they did so far.I agree. Nowhere do I see the brilliance of the previous screenplay. The filminess and the lack of logic is jarring. But the love is still bitter sweet.
So, I think we can forgive them for some crap in the middle -- after all they put quite a bit of it up on air for 2 months. A little bit more if it takes us back to the subtle struggle is worth it.I agree. It was 2 months of utter waste etc some of the scenes where ASR loses his voice.
This is the reason I like some of the Amnesia posts! It makes perfect sense -- you cannot have the audience have "collective amnesia" so let us just give the lead pair Amnesia and bring it back to a place where the whole thing can go back to "wooing" -- the strong point of the show where they were wooing each other while maintaining their "PRIDE" -- awesome writing there. Beautifully portrayed as well. See the wooing part is what kept the interest and there is no reason it shouldnt continue especially because they really developed the two characters very well. The writing is indeed awesome for the way they have built Arnav's and Khushi's character and the love story and their ego clashes in never admitting it. Again I could relate it to personal life. I never have come across such subtle psychological interplay. But I am not sure of amnesia. I have seen quite a few amnesia tracks flopping. If they handle it well I am for it. But the current set of writers do not seem to be capable of that.
So, as always Rima you are right on the money. I guess these guys did not have a choice they had screwed up way too much for the last 60 days.Yes they did screw up and now they are trying to make up with a lot of masala. Let's see what they do.
This is definitely a fun addiction to have. This addiction is better than some harmful stuff. So enjoy the ride
You know, I am known to not give away praise too easily! My guys bug me about (they complain constantly about the ass chewing they get) that and the board wants me to be liberal with praise which I cannot do (I am known to be a hard negotiator and tough guy)! But when it comes to your responses, I have to throw some more real praise your way (more than I have done so far -- this is appreciative heart felt praise -- dont think of it as some condescending statement) -- thank you very much for the support in keeping me hooked -- I havent figured out what keeps me here -- as long as I dont, I will continue!!! You are right, this is worth enjoying.
I am not one to go for vices (I kind of force myself in social settings -- one of my board members is a big wine guy from DC where the wine culture is huge -- we order 7-8 bottles at dinner -- I drink may be 3 glasses if that and the table takes the rest) -- I am a bit too grounded for that but what this show has done is elevate my mood -- doing my stuff all day had taken away some of my natural ways (no one remembers me as being this khadoos). Since I started watching the show, I am able to maintain both sides -- the strong rational side required for things and I am able to just be a bit more loose as well -- Honestly I have songs in my mind when sleeping and not the yelling I was doing at meetings or the uncontrollable urge I feel to destroying some people. It is a nice thing to have Khushi Kumari Gupta and her "ajeeb" ways in mind with some of your VMs (your cohorts here are simple superb at making them) -- some of the songs I would listen to and walk away (my wife has music on most of the day so I know the songs but I never paid attention) are now becoming things playing in my head all day -- Saibo thing by Shreya Ghoshal and that is has been the one I have woken up singing for the past week!!!
Cool stuff -- I cannot tell you how much I love the "traditional" character that Khushi is. It is just awesome -- the other thing the writers did was include our culture and tradition so subtly -- it is not in your face "PREACHING" that hindi films keep doing that turns us off -- it is so beautiful the way they did it. The way they showed every festival with each's significance -- Janmashtami with the Jhula (a forgotten festival for most of the country), Nav Ratri tradition, Lakshmi puja with Khushi painting feet, Raksha Bandhan and Bhai Duj just made me emotional actually (Anjali is probably the most under-discussed but real sis like character on the show) -- I sincerely hope they bring it all back. There is definitely a WINNING movie in this show.
By the way, when you see these guys away from the show, I think Barun is the more likable of the two. There is something about Sanaya that is OFF when she does her interviews where as when you listen to Barun I think "I can take this guy out for a drink or invite his family home anytime and host them for days if required". Sanaya doesnt really make me think the same. Look at me paying attention to real life personalities as reflected on TV of these actors -- CRAZZY!!!
