Thanks for responding, people. I am concerned as to why there is this much focus on her 'silliness' by other characters. Even her mom and aunt feel the need to 'apologise' for her silliness. That just makes me sad somehow.

Interesting post. This is an oft used idea in fiction, of communicating affection through something that is vaguely insulting. If you watch HIMYM, apparently when Robin tells Ted/Barney *idiot* it is meant to be understood as *iloveyou*. But I get what you mean, ASR's darkness and Khushi's silliness is exaggerated just because the CVs want to hold on to the opposites attract tag. Oppposites might attract but relationships happen only when inspite of those opposites you meet each other halfway. I don't think the CVs have figured out that halfway point as yet.

I wouldn't want a devdas like Arnav and similarly I wouldn't like a stoic Khushi either.

Oh hell! I have been waiting for a post like this one!

We don't know yet how Khushi would react to Arnav's idea of 'truth' about her!

Maybe she would get really angry or maybe she won't say anything!
Maybe she would try to make him listen patiently!
(Arreh, its Khushi Kumari gupta Singh Raizada after all, she is no less than Arnav! His and her mood swings! We'll have to take every kind into consideration!)

But, if the CV's decide to show a silent, quiet, heartbroken Khushi...it would be really out of character for her and even though few IF members would really love seeing a quiet, broken and 'giving-a-silent treatment' Khushi...
I am sure that Khushi would bounce back to what she always has been!

She has to!

But the good that will come out of it would be that, probably, Arnav would notice that change in her and it would break him!
He loves a silly Khushi! And, he can go through anything, but he simply cannot stand a silent Khushi!

So, maybe yeah, for a while..we might have a 'silent' Khushi!

But it cannot stay for long..because, we(all the IF members) love Khushi as Khushi... all the Elder audience loves Khushi as Khushi,
CV's love Khushi as Khushi...
Raizada and Gupta families love Khushi as Khushi...

And,
Arnav loves Khushi as Khushi! 😊

So, no changed Khushi for long! ( if there will be any change in her character, that is!)

i think the focus is there on her silliness cuz gul khan wanted to portray a lovestory between a rich arrogant tycoon and a "jhalli" (silly girl)...

shes always been clumsy/silly from the very first day...but arnav fell for her during the photoshoot when he saw her beauty and innocence over all that silliness...the silliness is just a cute thing for him, which can get annoying at times loll

Khushi's silliness is actually a mask for a pretty balanced and mature girl ... if you notice her silliness and OTT manifest themselves when she is trying to hide something or trying to come to terms with something that she is not able to handle...most of her silliness has been with Arnav ... it is her way of trying to crack the ASR facade...!
I guess Arnav first fell in love with her silliness and beauty but has also seen the maturity in her -- Lavanya , his grandmother , office situations ...etc. He is also impressed with her industriousness and ability to keep at a task.
I guess that even when she realizes the truth , she may become a bit mature ,, but given the fact that she has such a unpredictable husband ... she will continue to be OTT... just to tease him and bring out the Arnav in him...
And an answer to the last question...you will surely find a person who loves you despite your silliness and for your silliness -- that is what true love is right!

It is my considered (ahem) opinion that Khushi is not stupid at all. In fact, she is pretty smart. For one, she is freakishly enterprising. She sets up little businesses before you can even figure out if the 'i' comes before 's' or the other way around when you spell business. She had the sari business, the sweet business, tuitions and dabba - all in a span of some eight months. That she wasn't successful in them is just unfortunate. She has generally speaking been keenly instinctive about things, especially about Arnav (not so much about Shyam, some would argue) and has used her head during their blink-and-miss courtship. For eg, the way she hid the bangles to drive Arnav to up his game and do that Prasad thing (almost acknowledging his feelings in front of everyone) shows that she was smart. She has the ability to think on her feet and converse with everyone, not limited to humans. Also in the way that she survived her time at AR, when ASR was on his welcome-to-hell mission, she was constantly improvising (not referring to that pallu drop, of course). Her silliness is a facade that makes everyone around her comfortable and feel not so threatened I guess. I am not sure ASR is in love with her silliness (even if the writer said that he falls in love with a jhalli), I think he is of course attracted to her but I think he also loves her because she challenges him - whether it be because of her ideology, her whimsy or her feisty nature.

But I don't like this affectionate, but she is so silly tone that everyone takes either. I certainly wouldn't want my (our) mom (or aunt) to tell my husband, my daughter/niece is silly, so forgive her (I will be hopping mad!). But TV is all about image and reiteration, I guess. But I don't understand why does funny equal stupid at all. Funny people need to be incredibly smart, yes? Teehee.
Also, I completely get Khushi's craziness (increased) since the shotgun wedding. When life throws you a curveball, it is better to play catch than storing them in lemon juice and pickling it for posterity.
And dude, you are not silly at all. You are so creepily smart that you will intimidate most men. But I am happy that you at least have exemplary child bearing hips :D

Interesting point you've made. Seriously we all have our bad points. When your own family begin stigmatizing you like that, it's hard to break free of the mold you've been given.

I completely agree with Ragini ^^^ Khushi is actually a very smart chick. But I guess she isn't afraid of what people think about her. If she's a jhalli, she's a jhalli. If she likes Salman, she likes Salman. If she wants to randomly dance, boy she will dance to her hearts content.

Cute n interesting post. And a refreshing take on Khushi's personality vs people (i.e. other characters') perception of it.

I wonder if her silliness or the perception of it is like a self fulfilling prophecy- she did a few crazy things growing up and got called sanka devi and now that she has been labeled a goof ball she does things that justify the tag.

There is a pretty smart and sensitive woman under that thick layer of OTTness but the CVs don't give a glimpse of it in depth and often enough.

Why ASR loves her? My theory is because she gets under his skin like nobody else and he likes that challenge.

An interesting post. Liked reading everyone's take on it. I agree that the Khushi's silliness badge is way too abused, especially by the writers. They almost turn her into Salman Khan, who btw does ridiculous things and people think it is funny. A movie superstar can pull that off, because it is for 3 hours every year during Ramzan, but it is an overkill in a daily soap. I love the funny Khushi, prone to quirkiness, as long as they don't mess with her most endearing quality, her heart. Else there is fear of her becoming superficial.

I think Arnav loves her for reasons other than her pagalness. Agree with Ragini's reading on that. She does take away his edge though, which probably is why he loves as well as loathes her.

@Ragini: "When life throws you a curveball, it is better to play catch than storing them in lemon juice and pickling it for posterity." Haha. Thank you for that!

I personally feel Khushi remidns Arnav of the "missing" part in his life...He loves how that smile on her face never withers, and that's why it pierces Arnav's heart evermore when he sees tears in her eyes; he loves the spirit of a lioness within her, a lioness who isn't even afraid of the "A" of ASR; he loves how she cares for her family, how she has a stinging past, and this where he could relate to her. Khushi brought the "spark" in Arnav's life which had been lost somewhere.
And so answering your question...No, even if Khushi matures up, Arnav wouldn't stop loving the Khushi who brings Khushi in everyone's life 😳
