Frankly, when I heard Arnav say the lines about 'respecting wife', I flinched' knew he will be branded a hypocrite. But a thought later' I realized while he might have voiced his hypocrisy' there was something that was a lot more blatant in the plot that unfolded today' the fact that he was humble.
When he realized the groom could be his employee' an employee he knows by face not even by name. He could have so easily revealed himself to everyone else' thrown the power of being Arnav Singh Raizada, THE Boss of the groom's bosses. He just had to show up in d hall... d groom would hv fretted and bowed down to him and so would his family. With his mere presence... this wedding would have gone on without a hitch. Furher, This scenario would have solved so much problem... the mohala ppl would hv known ASR wasn't a mechanic who repairs their random things... he is in fact a business tycoon. He would hv gained so much of appreciation and affection from them for being so humble in comparison to d groom and his family... when in reality his stature in society is unparalleled
Or he could have chosen an easier option to splurge his money around... step up the arrangements... buy lavish gifts for the groom and family... order five star food etc'
But he choose not to do that...he seemed to sense d groom liked the girl but just didn't have it in him to stand up against his family. so in his own discreet way Arnav tried setting things in order. He immediately stopped Khushi from making sarcastic remarks over melting ice creams, avoided situation that could have snow balled into something else. He introduced himself as Arnav, khushi's husband and not their nephew's employer Arnav Singh Raizada!!! He could have easily had those ppl call his wife 'Khushi Ma'am' instead of accepting her mistake and having ice cream ordered for. This in stark contrast to his behavior to the guests who attended Khushi's Muk Dikayi ceremony and insulted his family and wife' the situation was the same, he could have still behaved the same'he didn't. It wasn't merely about him or his family' there was another family involved' he sobered down.
Yes, he handled it in a business manner... the way he knew best... yet what stood out for me was a glance at the innocent bride before he went about doing what he felt was d best way to set things right. It showed he cared for an innocent person out there... and not his urge to show he was all powerful. He understood that he might be able to avert any trouble today... but would things be better after the wedding? May be not... that is what he set out to correct.
Surely he might not practice what he preached today... but that doesn't mean he doesn't believe in it. Let's not forget he is also a brother whose sister is being cheated upon by her husband...a guy who has realized his brother in law is with is sister only for his wealth and not love' what he said might have stemmed from that experience.
Having said all this... i am in no way defending the wrong Arnav has committed on khushi. He will have to set that right... heal her hurt and win over her love and trust... and i am sure he will put his heart and soul into those efforts... but until then we cannot rob him d right to stop injustice just because he isn't fair on someone else.
