Write up your FF, go to photoshop or any other painting software, add a watermark, save the whole thing as an image, upload to a website and then put the link with a no copy, members only forum code. Thats the best that can be done as of now.

The mods should give a warning on first instance of plagiarism and then ban the member for any repeated offence. Im disappointed that the mods have let some of the repeated offenders get away with whatever they have been doing.

I think you've summed it up pretty well. I will try to implement this the next time around.

True. IF needs to come up with something if they wish to maintain the creativity here.

Just a quick question...fair enough we are throwing out ideas and brain storming , but would this not be a more legible discussion if the powers that be of IF were to participate as well, we will know where they stand , they will know our greivance, they get to view out ideas, we have sattisfaction that atleast it is going noticed, they let ud know what i feasible and what is not...
otherwise it just feels like we are shooting empty shells in the dark...

You might want to bring attention to this fact on the actual website where it was posted, as well.
I believe the poster on IF said they saw it on FB page.
I know there are other websites, such as, eduniya.com, etc. that have been plagiarizing.

Sure..and I for one, woud love to know what the powers-that-be think about this. Whether they feel they can do something, or its pretty much we'll deal with it on a case by case basis and we really can't do more. I can stomach that..I'd just like to know their thoughts.

Awesome post.

I think the best solution, for now, should be to get all tech savvy and figure out ways to safeguard these creative works. In fact, if some methods work well enough, they might just become permanent solutions! I'd really like to know how those popular FF sites protect their writers' works.

I agree with you on the setbacks of blogging. But who knows when desperate times will call for desperate measures? :/

This is so, so sad...I don't even want to continue my FF anymore, if someone else reaps the benefit from all that hard work and time which goes into it :( And I aspire to be a writer one day, so I don't need someone else feeding off my work...I really think the MODs should take up this issue, with those data protection software you mentioned or something, coz it would be such a shame if people started their own blogs and others got cut off from the wonderful creativity of this forum. I used to come here for that, but nowadays with this kind of news going around...this is an issue of concern, and I'm wondering whether it'd be possible to petition to the MODs to do something about it, coz if this keeps going, I might end up not writing for this forum altogether ;(

Okay...so I just found out that one of the works I had read here has been copied word to word on another forum. Disgusting. Have informed the original writer.

just responded to another thread that brought up this issue- it is indeed very difficult to follow up plagiarism in the forum world with legal issues and there is nothing one can do except make it a member only post wherein you can maybe find a way to "track" who the member is who is lifting it off and then debar them from IF. I think that should be possible. Also, IF could create a software by which all our posts can have an IF watermark in the background so that even if it is blindly copied and pasted in other places, it can be "tracked and identified"- most of these lazy people who dont have a thought in their heads who copy so blatantly will not have the wherewithal to remove the watermark etc! Also, to make it more unique, maybe what IF can do is not only create a watermark for each post posted by a member, but also code for the name of the member to appear in the watermark in a particular pattern. This way, atleast full credit can be given to the creator of stories and siggies and even song remixes. Truly a very creative bunch when u see the spectrum of work done!!
