I can remember the day I started watching IPKKND, and I remember why I started watching it, but I don't really know why I continued watching it.

I'm rewatching the show from the very beginning now, and here are a few thoughts:

I didn't enjoy the show in the beginning. ASR was hot and everything, but I didn't think Khushi was that pretty. I remember kind of just going through the first 20 or so episodes rolling my eyes at the coincidences and silly supporting cast and skipping to the ArnavKhushi interaction hoping to see something there. There was chemistry, but it wasn't mesmerizing or really cute enough. Obviously, later I'd get hooked on it - probably happened somewhere around the hospital hug scene. It was, when I heard Tu Hi Bata Meri Maula during the tearful walk, I was in for it.

I watched the show really, really fast. Maybe about five months worth of episodes in 3-5 days. Whenever I watch the current episodes, I always think to myself, wow, they're such better actors now that they were before. They've gotten so much better at this, the show is more attractive, the plotlines are tighter, etc.

Now that I am rewatching it again, and I'm religiously not fast-forwarding any scenes (yes, even the creepy Shyam ones), and my opinion has changed.

  • In the past episodes, the show had a much broader, semi-believable scope. I guess we'd kill the CVs now if they even remotely attempted to not give us mainly Arnav Khushi scenes. Because the characters have all sufficiently interacted with each other, the show is much more compact now, focusing on the relationship between the leads. However, everything before that was really well done buildup
  • The past episodes seem to hint a lot more at Arnav and Anjali's respective issues. His business partners acknowledge that he is a ruthless, arrogant, unforgiving man, a fact that many of choose to forget and frequently question when bashing Arnav's behavior. As for Anjali, building on my Anjali knows everything theory, she is insanely clingy. She does the stupid vraths, her innumerable pujas, the constant tracking of Arnav and her husband. She forgives incredibly easily, does not stand up for herself, manipulates Khushi into working for the Raizadas, manipulates Dadi into letting La stay with the family.
  • As for Khushi. I noticed something about her that has always kind of niggled at the back of my mind. She has a need to do everything and take care of everyone in her family. In the earlier episodes, Buaji is constantly harassing her, taunting her, almost to the point of viciousness. Yet, Khushi puts this behind her. In my opinion, she has some kind of psychological issue of losing her family again and is willing to do anything to never estrange them. (Marrying Arnav to save Payal, taking on a job to provide for the family, keeping her worries to herself, always looking to please others, gain approval through whatever means ie silly pranks, song and dance lol)
Wow, this is a hell of a long rant. Just some thoughts I'd to get out

While I don't believe the show hasn't gotten better (it most certainly has) but it was always well rendered to begin with.

What about you guys? When were you hooked on the show? Did you like the earlier/(iest) episodes? What scene/episode/moment made you become obsessed?

I was hooked to the show from the first day actually!!

and Sanaya looked skinny in first 20 episodes!! i used to watch MJHT with my sister actually. My best friend was super obsessed with it and she used to call me chashmish because i used to make a first impression of Gunjan aka Sanaya.

So i watched all the episodes and i never skipped! I was hooked from the first episode, dunno why but i throughly enjoyed every thing!! I even liked Arnav's attitude and could really relate to it!

I actually started to watch the show because of the first promo, where he hits her scooter, and the Last promo sealed it for me "Nafrat paas aane na de...Mohabbat door jaane na de"! I was watching Navya at that time and was getting really bored of it and needed to find a new serial, and pressing on that first promo (I'm a online watcher since no one in my family watches hindi dramas) must have one of the best things I did because I absolutely love IPKKND!!!

I have to confess though that I when I first saw Barun (didn't even know who he was), I was like "Who is this guy?" he didn't really appeal to me or anything, just a ok guy sort of guy! IKR, W*F? but I didn't know who Barun was so wasn't known to how his acting or anything was! (phew dont feel so guilty anymore and now I FREAKIN LOVE HIM n HIS ACTING!!!)

Now again, I knew who Sanaya was from MJHT, BUT I did not like her acting or the character she played and MJHT just didn't click for me so I never bothered to watch it like that!! But Now I definitely know now that she is a fabulous actress, still dont take back what i said about MJHT just didn't like her acting there! Sanaya Rocks as Khushi, i love her as Khushi and soon she won me over!!!

But yeah these were my initial reactions about the leads, but the 1st episode of IPKKND was Awesome and from then on I became a crazy IPKKND fan!!! Sanaya and Barun's chemistry clicked and sizzled and caught my attention right then a there, and uff Barun descending from that helicopter made me catch my breath he totally won me right then and there and the rest is history!!! N yes i totally agree that they have improved immensely and I'm so happy that I decided to give this serial a chance!!!

I used to think (still think) Arnav was a huge jerk. Often, he made me uncomfortable with how utterly cruel he insisted on being. As I said, because I was skipping, I didn't catch the little redemption points throughout the show. Except his relationship with Anjali - I've always been a die hard fan of their brother-sister bond

Now, when I go back and re-watch the scenes I missed/didn't acknowledge, i.e. rain hug, teej faint, I pretty much melt.

However, it's really a different experience rewatching the show in its entirety from the beginning.

I've an example of a scene I completely overlooked: Khushi has always been my favorite character, but she became even more so in an office scene.

Some office girls drew a caricature of her in pigtails on a whiteboard. Instead of getting upset with the bullying and taunting, Khushi went up to the board, erased one pigtail, laughed, and said, "Now it's better" and walked away. It was such a little detail, but that small instance just made me so happy and pretty much secured my affection for her

I started watching IPKKND when Khushi got stuck in the guesthouse and then Arnav comes to save her. I do remember seeing a few scenes on t.v in the AR office but that was when i stopped watching serials. But after that guesthouse I got hooked to the show. 😊

I can totally relate to everything you just said. I started watching from the first episode but it didnt impress me all that much...I used to think it is just another cliche love story with a bunch of falling and all that. But I did find Arnav and Anjali's relationship very unique...the kind of reverence they had towards one another. And Khushi's chirpy attitude was always surprising...ever since the whole news thing with ASR, she was upset one and then up and making jalebis the next day.

I also didnt find the actors so "OMG" either...they were ok. I must say Barun and Sanaya have both improved IMMENSELY ever since the show started...their expressions are much more clearly expressed and believable than they used to be in the beginning. That is a big reason this show is a hit for me...the actors are just awesome!

I watched the episodes almost everyday...but kinda just skimmed through them. I become religiously devoted ever since the teri meri dance sequence, after that it was just "OMG Arnav, OMG Barun, OMG Barun's smirk" 😆

i knew about IPK..but thought it was the most cliche show ever, as i dont know Barun/Sanaya's other shows. actually, i have never heard of them before... so i was like W*F

but i happened to catch the nanital Mahaepisode, and BAM! i was hooked. I started watching the show then on, but didnt understand much, then watched all the previous episode in a marathon session.

I have since then hooked my sister on to it and we both love the complex story and intriguing characters.

I didn't watch from the first epi, started a bit late. I remember tuning in because I knew of Barun from his previous show so I was curious and since then I've been hooked! I started watching from the part where Khushi crashes into Arnav's car
