Every family, every person is different and so reactions to this situation would be different too. I would be upset too if my brother just showed up married without informing anyone. It is a matter of respect and dignity for most of the elders of our Indian culture.

Loved your VM, thank you!!

People say the stuff happening in Iss Pyaar is unrealistic... and yes, some of the situations and reactions are... but we forget that there is some base in reality behind all of these stories and in some sense, it's the believability of just how easily similar things COULD happen that makes watching it all so painful.

Yes... everything is nice now... they have 2 beautiful children.

My brothers and I are as close as Arnav and Anjali are shown to be. I wouldn't shun them either, I'd just be incredibly upset that he didn't consider it important that he tell me and let me know about something so important and momentous in his life. For me, it would feel like I had done something to make him think he couldn't trust me, so I'd demand some sort of explanation. But just like Anjali says, he's still their Chotte... I would never hate him or kick him out of the family. I don't live with my family or my brothers either, but we're still close and although he isn't an overtly emotional person, I cannot imagine how I'd feel if he did something like get married without even telling me. He doesn't have to ask my permission and WHO he marries is entirely his choice- I'm not backwards- but I would hope he would TELL me before he came back and thrust the news in my face.

Ahh our families are also different in that I've been raised to believe that a marriage unites two families, regardless of how little presence one has in the lives of the others. Therefore there should be some sort of input from the family. I guess it's the different ideologies of people, just like the two of us, which is splitting the reaction to the recent track so vividly.

Yep, we think very differently. I actually dont know what its like to be in your position because my brother and we have never spoken about such things. We never talk about our love lives, I dont know if he has ever had a girlfriend, or if he goes out and parties. My brother and I are just not like that. We dont talk about our feelings and such things. If I needed help with my computer because it broke then I would call him and he would help me or with calculus or other things like that. But we never butt into each others personal lives. He wont even tell me what his religion is (I asked him one day) and he was like I believe in all religions jokingly. He's very private and so am I. This other time my mom said I cant buy these shorts because she thought they were too short and my brother told my mom its her life, her clothes, she can wear whatever she wants. We are just not like anji-arnav or like you and your brother.
Anyways, thats the reason whole thing with anjali and arnav is very bothersome. She keeps crying and crying and butting into his personal life as if she rules it. And I dont understand and I think a lot of other people dont understand either. She wanted him to get married for the longest time, and now that he has she just wont accept it. I know that he should have told her, and it would be justified for her to be upset, but this reaction is ridiculous. Its completely over the top.
