Ok, all, let's face it - whatever happened yesterday happened - and it happened the way it did, and it was bloody depressing to watch, but I really applaud the CVs for what they have done - they have effectively got us so hooked to the show that we are all here discussing it left, right and centre. There were so many negative posts that I just want to pour out all my feelings here, and it's very likely to be extremely long, so I'm really sorry about that.
Let's go back and analyse a few things - first of all, everyone wanted the comedy tracks to end, and wanted a good bit of drama. This is what the CVs are giving us - and giving us like a slap on the face. "You wanted drama? I will give you drama, loaded drama, every bit of intense drama you begged for." The people who are poorer for it are those who enjoyed the breezy track and Khushi's crazy antics - and there are a lot of people who loved that, including me.
There were a lot of posts about people who enjoyed the comedy track saying how they did not understand the essence of what the show was (nafrat and mohabbat), and in return there were so many people who really did not understand the essence of the show, who started saying they would not watch because of the misunderstanding, which was kind of silly. Not saying one or the other is right, and definitely don't mean to hurt sentiments of anybody - just my opinion.
Coming to Khushi - there are a lot of questions on why she agreed, how she agreed to this marriage, and why she didn't even bother to question Arnav about it. I think she was probably in shock - she was expecting Arnav to confess his love to her, she goes on the terrace and gets manhandled by that sorry excuse for a man, then Arnav suddenly goes all cold ASR on her, and then he drops this bombshell on her that he expects her to marry him. She could have questioned him, yes, but in her shock all she'd have wanted to do is ensure her jiji's happiness. I don't think she even thought about anything and anyone else.
And with anyone else, I doubt she'd have been in so much shock - the thought that ARNAV who seemed to care so much for her was doing this would have destroyed her spirit, that too coming so soon after the shock of the Shyam incident. Sanaya has been brilliant - her shocked expressions, her pleading eyes, her abject misery - just wonderful.
Anjali and Nani - shocked again by their Chote's actions. They are balked of their prey, who went and shut himself up in his room. They then took it out on Khushi because she was there for them to take it out on. Mamiji, the less said, the better - it was just the kind of thing she would think. Mamaji had nothing to say - I think he will be his usual silent self, but ensure Khushi is not ill-treated. Shyam - he's been effectively stymied for now, but I suppose he will come back.
Aakash and Payal - Aakash brought Anjali back and supported her in her misery. Payal only cried. I don't think they will be against Arnav or Khushi - I have a feeling they will both support them and help them sort out their problems. I am hoping that this is the case - there needs to be SOMEONE on their side.
Guptas - Shashi has proven again that he's a true father. Garima proved again that she's not a very good mother to Khushi. Buaji said the most unforgivable thing to Khushi - and this is not the first time she's said it, which makes it worse. Everyone has forgotten everything that Khushi had done for their family. Very grateful you are, dear Guptas.
Now last but not the least, Arnav. Trust me, I LOVE Arnav's character, and I continue to love his characterisation. The creatives have been bold in creating what is essentially a very FLAWED character, a person who is not whole in emotion, a person who hides behind a wall whenever it's a matter of the heart (everytime something happens to turn him into Arnav, he closes his eyes and brings back control and ASR).
He's as damaged as Anjali is from the events of the past, about his mother's history, about his sister. It's worse for him because he does not share those emotions and cry them out like Anjali does. He just retreats behind the closed door and lets them out like yesterday. It was obvious that that's what he did yesterday.
I honestly also don't think he thought about the fact that Khushi was downstairs or that she'd have face this inquisition on his behalf - he is really naive that way. It doesn't excuse the way he married Khushi either (the MS and sindoor scene was quite a numbing and horrifying scene to me) but this is EXACTLY what you would expect angered ASR to do. His emotions are safely behind his ASR wall, and the motions of what he's doing mean (really mean) nothing to him. I wonder how Arnav would have wanted to be married to Khushi - then, with the feelings and love, maybe it would have all meant something to him. To him, currently she's the other woman in his sister's life, that's all.
The biggest factor here is that, if it was any other woman, I doubt he'd have married her this way. I really really doubt it. I also firmly believe that he will not distance himself that much from Khushi - she literally has no one else in her life currently. Whatever said and done, he cares about her, and he WILL stand by her. That's who he is. It's now going to be upto Mrs. Raizada to bring back Arnav from ASR, and it's going to be upto Arnav to bring back our Khushi - and that's what the theme of the next track is really likely to be.
Face it people, Arnav is not perfect - he's one of the MOST flawed characters there is. And that's where the beauty of the character lies - in the fact that he believes in his own destiny, but there's someone else writing it for him, in the powerful facade he shows to the world behind which hides an insecure boy, in the anger that he throws around so easily, which masks the sheer intensity of his feelings on everything. And though right now I don't really like him for everything he's doing to Khushi, I honestly think that he's one of the BEST characters on TV currently - helped along immensely by the fact that he's portrayed by an excellent actor like Barun (man, can that guy act!).
So hats off to you, creatives. Well done. People, we are lucky to have thinking creatives who are trying to give us a serial that neither drags like others, nor provides any excuses for people being the way they are. We need to appreciate the fact and continue to just support them in what they are doing. Our Rabba Ves will be back now - come on, they will now be living together, for God's sake! It's only going to get better now I suppose - we just need to be patient and see this through (and trust the khabris who get us our dose of spoilers!)
P.S. I was right about this being long. Sorry! But I just had to get it out of my system! That's what this show does to me!
