After watching few episodes of IPKKND, one day my sister mentioned to me that the leads have already acted in different shows previously. I was curious enough to go online and watch a few episodes of the shows Baat Hamari Pakki Hai and Mile Jab Hum Tum. I was amazed to see the transformation these two lead actors had made from those shows to this one.
Sanaya Irani played Gunjan in Mile Jab Hum Tum – a bespectacled simple college going girl who is totally in love with the most popular guy in class Samrat. Her character had calmness, intelligence, sweetness, fragility, patience and goodness. She is strong in her moral values and hates lies. Her USP was her femininity which she portrayed flawlessly. Her portrayal of a steadfast friend to Samrat until his realization of love for her was truly commendable. She wore glasses throughout the show, clothes in pastel shades, had a simple hair style. Her subdued femininity only spruced up the chemistry between her and her boyfriend Samrat.
Barun Sobti played Shravan in Baat Hamari Pakki Hai – a totally irresponsible husband who thinks marriage is a child's play. His character had arrogance, laziness, irresponsibility, wackiness and goodness. In spite of his various flaws he was still a lovable character. Even then his USP was his sex appeal. In one of the scenes when he comes out of the bathroom in just a towel, I am sure it was not just his wife who starts hyperventilating. When he and his wife danced for the various Bollywood romantic numbers, I am sure his female fans would have gone crazy to see him in those sexy shirts. He was excellent in the role and portrayed it in a comical fashion as there was a lot of comedy in the show. However the show was completely female oriented. It was all about the journey of Sanchi, the female lead, the trails and tribulations she faces in order to change Shravan into a responsible and loving husband and son. Though Barun supported her beautifully it was Ankita Sharma's show all the way.
I basically wanted to point out both these actors' roles are completely reversed in this show. Khushi is a complete opposite of Gunjan and Arnav is a complete opposite of Shravan. It is truly an amazing transformation .This proves that both these actors are extremely talented and I am sure the casting crew of IPKKND would have thought the same. I don't think the CVs focus on a character more just because the actor happens to be excellent. We see ASR and Khushi the way they are today because the CVs have envisioned them that way. It is fortunate that the CVs chose Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani for these roles as both the actors are not only able to portray the character just as they envisioned it, they are also a feast for the eyes. Their sizzling chemistry is like one I have never seen before. When a show is so popular and has managed to be in the top 5 of the TRP list, it is usually team work – along with the lead stars, the Creative Team, production team, direction team, supporting actors, music directors, dialogues writers, wardrobe designers, camera men, choreographers and so on and so forth. So Kudos to the entire team!
