Great analysis, Incandescent! Things had to come to this head given they way these women are. The situation in today's episode would have been so much different if these women had been different.
I just hope Akash develops a spine and stands up to his uncouth mom. CVs please surprise us.

Hope ASR emerges from his descent into hell to learn that he has to trust KKG when he gets to know the truth of his dear BIL.

And I hope and pray for her own sake that KKG learns enough from the hell that Payal is going through to know that the truth must come from her for any hope of redemption.

'Cos the truth when it comes is going to wreak terrible damage on every relationship that matters, and only trust can bring about the healing.

Wouldn't it be great if despite all these setbacks, people love each other enough to trust each other, because at the the root of it all is love.
I wish the CVs show us a more positive story instead of the usual themes of separation and misunderstandings which I assume they will in order to stretch the show.

How wonderful it would be if ASR chose to believe KKG and Anjali decides to take off her rose tinted glasses, sees Snakeji for who he is and grows enough spine to kick him out.

She may have gained a stature in society after becoming a Raizada but she has not learned an ounce of decorum. What's pathetic is that she feels her attitude makes her classy but it is just downright crass. Nani, mama and the rest of the Raizada's have failed miserably in rectifying her. I wouldn't hold Arnav, Anjali and Akash responsible, because it was nani and mamas job. But Akash needs to grow a spine asap.

I cannot understand why Nani is so quiet! This is the question of Akash's life...not a personal matter between Mama and Mami...Nani has the full right to blast Manodrama.

And Mama...what is wrong with him? He can stand his wife destroying his son's happiness, but can't dare to open his mouth?!

Payal - What is wrong with this girl? I see nothing but a girl who crippled from her mind. She needs her sister to solve her dowry issues, take care of financial issues of their family and unite her with the guy she likes. Is there anything other than laundry that she can do on her own? It is fine that her engagement was broken. Does it mean that she isn't worthy of being loved or getting married to a respectable family? Why is she acting like Akash is doing her a favor by marrying her? She does not have any self worth. She feels guilty for not telling her MIL about the dowry incident but she doesn't consider telling a bigger truth she is hiding because she thinks it will totally ruin her chances of getting married.

Yes, why can't she open her mouth and tell Manodrama why teh marriage broke off? And while she's at it, openly ask Akash that is it going to be like this all the time, Mami insulting and berating her, while the son stands mute to the spectacle?

Garima - She treats her daughter's like they are burdens and they are not worthy of love, respect from anyone else other than the members of the Gupta family. She feels the need to remind her daughter's how fortunate they are as at least one of them is finally getting married. The only way they can be saved from disgrace is if anyone feels pity for the girls and agrees to marry them. She is even selfish enough to hide a bigger truth from her daughter's in laws and she doesn't even consider the consequences another girl ( Anjali ) might face.

THe less said about her...the better. 😡

Buaji - Although she much better than rest, she should have known better how to deal with situations. Even after she caught Shyam lurking around, she is still hiding the truth. She doesn't even consider that Shyam hasn't changed and he will not change. If not Khushi, he might go after another girl. How is she and her family doing Anjali and her family a favor by hiding the truth?

Although Khushi is making a huge mistake by not telling the truth. I am not going to hold her completely responsible. She is only 18 and has taken up her family's responsibility at a young age. If she takes nine right decisions she might end up making one huge wrong decision. She has been terribly misguided by her Amma and her Buaji. The only person who could guide is Babuji. She wanted to reveal the truth but she backed of seeing Anjali's reaction. When she got home, Amma, Buaji and Payal praised her for taking a mature and sensible decision. Unfortunately when Shyam's truth comes out, Amma, Buaji and Payal will only stand in corner shedding tears and Khushi will have face the blow. I am counting on Bauji and to get better soon and reveal the Shyam's heinous murder plot.

Fari...

My comments are in black above...

Its frustrating to see Mami opening her mouth and openly insulting and berating the Gupta family like a junglee.
I forward all her scenes..but today, unfortunately I saw the precap in the hope of seeing Arhi...to my utter horror, it was a generous serving of that horrible woman going out of control.

I am utterly disappointed with Nani and Mama, and Akash. It was he who pursued this alliance...and it is his duty to defend and protect Payal. Wrong is wrong, even if it is his own mother.
He has to open his mouth and give it to his Mom in stern strict words.
Terrible!

I loved your post FAri...very well written
this is the most frustrating part about IPK...it ruins the whole magic of Arhi's scenes and leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Trust me I absolutely hated Buaji during the Diwali episodes. The pressure on Khushi to marry the snake was painful.

I agree they are all pathetic, particularly if we judge them from where we are all from - people with access to education and internet.

The sad thing is, the characterization of Payal is an embodiment of all the typical and old world stereotypes of what a bahu should be. She should put herself last, she should defer all decisions to someone else, she should only speak when spoken to. Do I agree with any of this. NO. Am I like this - I am going to assume you know the answer to that. But, I will tell you there are women of my generation in my sasural who are just like Payal. They live day to day and through their lives at the mercy of those around them to hold their hands because they were not raised to think for themselves - even though they hold college degrees. It is a culturally sanctioned co-dependency. I do not like it, I take no part in it, and goodness knows, she knows not to come near this nannad with her sob story, But these women exist, these women are appreciated for their "feminine" qualities by the older generation. Things are changing but it will take a while.

Garima raised this daughter with the only dream she herself had for herself, which is to be a wife. Even for Khushi, that is her dream. The difference is, she does not relinquish her rights over herself.

Great post...which was very much needed...these four surely are the most pathetic and lamest of all...was absolutely seething with anger at mami today...how can her way of thinking be so attrocious and brutal even after being around calm, serene loving people like nani and Anjali. What makes it more hard for me to digest is that all nani and Anjali do is stand around looking all shocked like dimwits and don't say anything much to shut her vile mouth up.A person who came from a middle class background herself should have been more understanding of her daughter in laws positon and status in society...instead of showering her with all this hatred.
Payal is another little mouse who just makes me fedup with her meekness...she sure needs to lose that door mat attitude and learn how to stand up for her dignity and what is right...come on...thats the least her pathetic self can do.Anyway enough of my ranting...should stop before I pull all ma hairs out in sheer frustration due to all this ridicule that is so glorified in all these characters.
