The soul of ASR was breathed in by Barun Sobti. It came to life through this actor. On paper, ASR is a well crafted intriguing figure. He lives up to any type of image that you hold for this type of character because of Barun.

As you said, Barun is inseparable from ASR, so I think the title of your topic is moot as ASR, the way he is, the way we drool over him, does not exist without Barun.

As Renu said - many actors play many iconic characters. Like her, it's Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy for me and George C. Scotts Ebenezer Scrooge. I did not particulary enjoy Scott as Patton - but that had to do with Patton, not that man's capabilities.

Its ASR for me too. - I started watching this when La enters RM and Khushi is brought to reform her. Then I watched it from the beginning on the net and thought Barun did not know how to act - But then slowly I started to see different facets of his personality and started enjoying it. I had not seen BHPH - I heard about it when I started this show and looked one of the epi. online of BHPH and didn't like it. So I will say that I like Barun because he portrays the character so well. I am not sure if I would like him in any other role but I could be wrong - He seems to have grown as an actor from what I saw - like if you see first few epi. and recent ones - he seems to be more comfortable doing ASR and does it with ease.

So I think I got hooked to this serial because of ASR and Khushi but now admire the talent of Sanaya and Barun for making these characters so lovable and lifelike.

Sunaina i was explaining myself more clearly when u replied to my post.I said if Barun quits I quit.I believe that is a compliment to the actor .I do not go around insulting actors.I do not know anything about acting,hence do not try to insult anybody who is in that field.But I do have my preference.All i said was I love Barun as ASR.and was not attracted to Barun as Shravan.There is no insult there.

I did not watch BHPH earlier however after watching IPK I did watch few episodes of BHPH. Barun was cute there but well too childish .
For me it's ASR. That's the main reason.
Another thing works here which did not work for BHPH I guess. Shravans love interest looked much older than him and for me that pair did not click for me. Barun , Sanaya together created that magic .
So ofcourse ASR character and also Arhi is the reason I love IPK.
Hats off to Barun for playing ASR sooo beautifully.

I am just amazed at how talented this guy is given that he is practically the anti thesis of ASR. Sanaya does come across as similar though perhaps more sensible and practical than KKG. But Barun is a completely sweet, uncomplicated, simple fun loving guy at least in the interviews so clearly this is an extremely intelligent and talented actor. Yes, I too caught a few episodes of BHPH but I quit.

In fact, I doubt if I can watch any other Indian serial as this is my first in 20 years and from the quick random samples I have taken of other hit serials, this is likely to be the last.

ASR is a class apart. Brings to life the classic romantic hero in the mould of Mr Darcy and even Naren (from Dotta of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay) - certainly not Devdas since he was a loser:)

i agree with your pov cuz it's da same case with my attraction towards da character vs actor

i was and still am attracted to ASR da character more than barun and that's why i prefer him on screen than off screen. barun's a sweet guy but i love ASR more!!

it's not da same with other actors whom i love and adore cuz i tend to prefer da actor over their characters. so in my case ASR & barun are both special but ASR leads da way

well its normal for women to get attracted to a stylish,well dressed ASR..and barun breathes life into it...i started this show for barun...the fact shravan never had any impact that ASR had on me is just characterisation and has got nothing to do with barun...baruns job is to do what is given to him in the most perfect way...and he does that..i liked him as shravan..he was meant to b an immature,irresponsible guy...and such a character is never made to give an impacct on women...BUT this guy still managed to give me smiles when he came onscreen...ASR or barun...i would say barun all da way..i may not have liked ASR..if it had not been played by sobti👍🏼

i watched this show for its good looking cast...loved ASR and wanted to know more abt sobti...now i love sobti...i admire his real life personality too:))))iam loving him more than ASR:)))its simple:)i might have noticed him coz of ASR but whom i love is sobti and not ASR

no one noticed SRK before DDLJ but he became popular after playing raj and still many remember him as raj/rahul but it doesnt mean that people love him only coz of/as raj/rahul:)))
