"Anjaliji! Anjaliji! Lavanyaji is calling you!" Khushi was waving her hand in front of Anjali's face, but all Anjali could see was her ring. "Um, Khushi, where did your fiance get your ring from. It's so pretty. I want to get something like it." "Actually, Anjaliji, I don't know, but I'll ask him and tell you, okay?" "It's okay, Khushi. By the way, so you have a picture of your fiance?" " I think Jiji took some pictures on my phone. Let me see. Oh yeah, here you go," Khushi said, handing the phone to Anjali. Anjali couldn't believe it. The man in the pictures, Khushi's fiance, was noone other than her husband! She was heartbroken. Her husband had been lying to her! He'd gotton engaged to her friend. How could he do this to her?But before the despair could take over, Anjali had some questions for Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta.
"Khushiji, please tell me the truth. Are you really happy or are you doing this for your family?" Anjali began her questioning. Khushi thought about it and decided to tell Anjaliji the truth. Anjaliji was more like an older sister, than just a friend. "Anjaliji, Buaji wants me to marry Shyamji. Even if I want to, I can't go against her after all she's done for me and my family. What kind of daughter would I be? I can't be so selfish and ruin my family's happiness. Buaji says that Shyamji is a good guy and that he will take care of me. But everytime he comes near me, I feel uncomfortable. I feel like running away. But what do I do, Anjaliji; I can't let my family down!" with that Khushi burst into tears. Anjali gave Khushi a warm hug, full of comfort and promise. "Khushiji, I need to tell you something, but I need you to stop crying and be strong, for me and yourself." She patted Khushi on the back, still comforting her.
Finally, Khushi had calmed down, with a stray hiccup here and there. Anjali took a deep breath and said, "Shyamji is my husband." "I know, Anjaliji. You've told me this already," said Khushi, confused at the strange way Anjaliji was acting. " No, I mean that your fia... the Shyamji that is living in your house, he is my husband." "But.. Then that means that...he's married. Then why would he get engaged to me?! Why didn't he ever tell us?! What... Why? How? Oh my goodness! How could he do this to you?! We have to teach him a lesson! He can't get away with this!" Khushi had so many emotions running though her at that moment. Confusion, hurt, the feeling of being doped, and hurt for her Anjaliji. "Khushiji, calm down. He will be punished, but we have to have a plan. If we confront him now, he will probably blame it on you and get away with it. And if I know my Chote, he won't listen to either of us. We have to act smartly. For now, we have to go and finish shopping; otherwise Chote and Lavanya will sense that something's wrong." With that Anjali and Khushi made their way to the clothes rack, comepletely unaware that someone had heard their entire conversation.
