Goodbye, My Almost Lover

Khushi stood on top of the stairs as crowds of people mingled around with various refreshments in their hands. Everyone was happy. And why wouldn't they be? It was Arnav Singh Raizada's engagement to his fiance, Lavanya Kashyap.

It was funny how fate played such cruel games with people who weren't even at fault. Khushi sighed at her fate. She fell in love with a guy who belonged to someone else, why was this happening to her? Tears formed in her eyes as she thought of the past week. Only she knew how difficult it was to arrange an engagement for the one you love. Seeing him walk away to someone else...knowing he'd never come back.

She hastily wiped her tears as Anjali approached her.

"Khushi ji, are all the arrangements done? You've checked with the caterers right?" she asked sweetly.

"Yes Anjali ji, everything is done. Don't worry nothing can go wrong in your brother's engagement, I promise." She replied, with a faint smile.

"Thank you so much Khushi ji, if it weren't for you, Chote would've never agreed to marry Lavanya. I owe you!"

"What are you saying Anjali ji? You don't owe me anything, I've done my job. And I'm glad it's turned out to be a success. I'm really happy for both of them." she smiled that wary smile.

"Alright Khushi ji, I'll go check on the sweets, please enjoy yourself!" Anjali exclaimed and walked away.

Enjoying was the last thing on Khushi's mind. How could she enjoy when she was about to witness the most difficult phase of her life.

She stared at Lavanya who stood in the middle, dressed in a beautiful light green lengha. Khushi felt a bit of happiness after seeing a smile on her best friend's face. The only reason she was giving up her love was for Lavanya. She knew how much she loved her ASR, and Khushi was ready to give away her love to a dear friend who she thought deserved him more than herself.

Feeling a bit down, Khushi made her way to the pool side. Now her favorite spot in the whole Raizada House. She stared up at the gleaming stars, searching for her parents. She knew if they were here, all this wouldn't have been happening. She wouldn't have met Arnav, she wouldn't have been humiliated by him, and of course she wouldn't have fallen in love with him. She sighed once again at the sudden turn of events.

After a while she felt that familiar presence. She knew he was there, behind her.

Turning around, she saw a vulnerable looking Arnav, almost pleading with his eyes to stop this drama. He couldn't take it anymore. He needed her. This engagement was just a spoof. Making his way towards her and grabbed her by the shoulder.

"Khushi, I need to talk to you." He whispered.

"Arnav ji, there's no time to talk. The guests have arrived, you should be heading down now." She said, while looking at the ground.

"Khushi this doesn't have to do with what's going on right now. This has to do with us."

"There is no 'us' Arnav ji..." Khushi whispered. Her voice barely audible.

"Khushi please don't do this. Just say all this has affected you throughout the whole week. Just say you care about me. Just say you can't stay away from me. Just say something dammit!" He grabbed her tightly around the waste, making sure she couldn't leave.

"Arnav ji...you know there can't be an us. We can't be together. We were never made for each other."

"Khushi don't say that. You know we both care for each other. Just stop this act and admit that you love me. Please." Arnav was on the verge of tears. He wanted her so badly, he couldn't go through with this engagement. He needed Khushi, she was his life.

"It's too late Arnav ji...you're about to be someone else's life partner. I can't come in between you two. Please let me go." Khushi struggled to get out of his grip as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Khushi don't go. I love you. I love you more than anything in this world, you mean everything to me. You can't leave me now. Not ever. I won't let you leave." He rested his forehead against hers as tears of pain ran down his cheeks. She couldn't leave him when he needed her the most.

As much as Khushi wanted to stay back and embrace him for the rest of his life, she couldn't. He was about to become someone else's fiance. She couldn't do this. Not now. Not ever.

Wiping away her tears, she pushed him back slightly and ran towards the pool's exit. Looking back once at a disheveled Arnav.

"Goodbye forever Arnavji..."she whispered softly, and ran down the stairs. Out of his house. Out of his life.

Goodbye my almost lover,
Goodbye my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you...
Can't you just let me be.

There you go! (: I'm kind of in a depressing mood so I had to write something sad on Arhi. The song that inspired me is called "Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy. Those of you who don't know this song, I recommend you listen to it! It's an absolutely beautiful song. I thought it suit Arnav and Khushi with their current situation. Please leave comments & criticisms. I think it turned out kinda crappy, but I'll let you all be the judge! (:

I love it! Although it was slightly depressing, wit her leaving him, but I feel that is what she should do if in the future a situation like this arises. The way they carved out Khushi's character, well this is what I expected from her. I do, however hope that Arnav doesn't continue his engagement with Lavanya, for the sake of the poor girl who IS living in a dream world.

btw, did anyone else notice, Lavanya's sudden bid to be more like Khushi maybe her subconscious telling her that Arnav loves Khushi and since she wants to hold on to him, now she wants to BECOME Khsuhi? Yeah, I know I am not making much sense...

Thank you so much! (: Yeah I agree, in my opinion this is what Khushi should do but of course in the show I don't want Arnav to get engaged with Lavanya. But I also don't want Khushi to give in so easily. You know what I mean?

Haha, don't worry you completely made sense. I actually kind of agree with you, Lavanya might think subconsciously that Arnav pays more attention to Khushi - and so she wants to become more like her. Whatever it is, I hope this whole love triangle gets resolved soon! Thanks for the comment! (:

Loved your OS. It was so sad and I admire Khushi, her determination and what she did by leaving. Very sad. Bow it is Arnav's turn to decide what he wants and what he has been hesitating to admit.
