Arnav will be heartbroken when he gets to know of the engagement. So far he took her for granted. The thought that she will soon be someone else's will tear him apart. He is volatile so we cant really predict how he will react to the news but I too feel he may take the wrong decision yet again and repent in private later although I would love to see them prove me wrong.
Both Arnav and khushi are in love with each other, but far from confessing they haven't even realised yet that it is 'love' that brings them together every time they vow to stay apart.
I'm wondering when will they admit to themselves or when will this realisation hit them? Do you see Khushi's engagement as the catalyst for Arnav's realisation? Is this going to be the shocker, the life altering development that would finally make him wake up, smell the coffee and come to terms with the reality?
Announcing engagement with La would be returning to square one IMO because it will again be like ASR deciding to brush the problem aside, whereas it's time now for him to acknowledge that Khushi has indeed secured a place for herself in his heart and he has to live with this reality whether he likes it or not.
