Yin and Yang Theory
Yin and Yang are two qualities found everywhere in the world. They also define male energy (yang) and female energy (yin).
A basic rule regarding the relationship of yin and yang is:
YANG protects YIN
YIN nurtures YANG
Everyone has a mix of yin and yang qualities but nothing is completely yin or yang. Together they form a complete whole.
Men are fundamentally more yang and women are fundamentally more yin. But each contains some of the other energy. And in each of us, our yang protects our yin.
One of the most beautiful descriptions Yin/Yang is found in, "Twin Souls," by Patricia Joudry and Maurie D. Pressman
ARNAV Yang is the initiating impulse, which divides and delineates;
KHUSHI yin is the responsive impulse, which nurtures and reunites.
ARNAV Without yang nothing would come into being;
KHUSHI without yin all that comes into being would die.
ARNAV yang is mental activity in its forceful aspect,
KHUSHI yin the imaginative and poetic, exalting the merely mental to the beautiful.
ARNAV yang goes ahead with things,
KHUSHI yin contains things within her and knows their nature without effort.
ARNAV yang does,
KHUSHI yin is.
ARNAV yang in his giving ness bestows the gifts;
KHUSHI yin in her being receives preserves, enhances, and redistributes them.
ARNAV Yang constructs,
KHUSHI yin instructs;
ARNAV yang implements,
KHUSHI yin complements;
ARNAV yang is strength,
KHUSHI yin endurance;
ARNAV yang is knowledge,
KHUSHI yin the mystery that reveals itself and becomes knowledge.
ARNAV yang is the discoverer,
KHUSHI yin lures toward greater discovery.
ARNAV Yang is the self-developer, inspired by yin,
KHUSHI Yin is the self dedicator, for her development and his dedication.
ARNAV Yang is the lover,
KHUSHI and yin is therefore beloved; yin is the beloved and the source of love.
ARNAV Yang is will and
KHUSHI yin is wisdom,
And one without the other is neither, and together they are joy.
ARNAV Yang is as the day, turning into night,
KHUSHI yin the night preceding the day; the one is the force that drives the waves of the ocean forward, the other the force that draws them back so that they may go forward again."
