I think it is important because shlok hates/ doesn't trust women because Swathi left him. I think knowing that Swathi indeed always loved him and her dying infornt of him will bring out his feelings for Astha as she is his present while Swathi his past and would change his perspective towards her, making him believe in Astha's unconditional love.

Thats exactly my point in reverse...that if it takes Swati in front of him showing him that she always loved him to understand that some women are good and she dies in that state...Shlok will never love any woman again...because this time he will remain guilty of misunderstanding Swati. Then her love will become larger than life for him because Swati will be the bigger person of all.
If thats what they show..Astha has no chance. They cannot show Shlok to now fall in love with Astha after Swati dies...or after her truth is exposed to Shlok.
If they showed Astha bringing back trust, color and life in him that Swati took away..only then their love story would have made sense. Astha constaly vowed to bring back old Shlok, the one who he was. So now Astha's mission has failed and it takes a Swati dying on deathbed for Shlok to know all women are not bad. Then it would be janam janam ka pyar of Swati and Shlok. Astha can look for another guy.
