Sorry I could not reply to your analysis in detail yesterday as there is limit to my posts as I am newbie and I was blocked.
Your kitchen analysis was perfect. I will try to connect the dots now. So Astha will get hurt so much that Shlok will take her away from NA and the Agnihotri mansion. Indicates there is darkness in Shlok's life and the Agnihotri mansion, but although NA is dark too he still has faith that light in Shlok's life and in Agnihotri mansion will come back. So he wants Astha (faith) as his DIL.
We have to remember Shlok was getting the award for his work for women's education. So although he has grown up in Agnohotri mansion he will still be supporting women. Astha will be his instrument here to make the changes in society against women. So he agreed not to have his feet washed when Astha told him she would not like her parents to do that just because they are the bride's parents.
