Such instances happen more frequently than we would like to believe. Branding a witch is a common mysogynistic route to control woman, especially in superstitious rural communities.

Thats really sad !! But i am sure a lot of these mob lynchings happen in india and maybe even around the world and most of these incidents go unreported.

I think calling a woman a witch , is the most easiest route to take to blame, and control her. I am sure the villagers had something against this woman, we are not told the full story. She must have been a threat to the panchayat, there is more to this story than what meets the eye.

I am glad that GUL has taken up mob lynching as the basis of this story as it is very much a reality in todays world , especially in India,
