Ab mei aur kya boloo when you have said everything. Chandni's characterisation is confusing. Right from the beginning she has been shown as a very righteous woman who will get away from the way of evil rather than confronting it. The one thing that has been consistent is that she will do anything for her family, she will overcome her dear and get out of the house, she will sell her bangles which are special to her to dave her famioy from disgrace. The list is endless. But it was only after advay openly told her that he wants to marry her that her characterisation has taken a U turn.

In her defence, she has been openly told by a man about whom she doesn't know anything that he wants to break her. Remember he told her that good she is not as simple as he thought she was. Ab tumhe thodne mein aur mazaa Aayega? And everything he has done after that have been perceived as chivalry by everyone in the family but her since she knows that he was scheming. It is quite possible that she is highly confused about his intentions and that's why she is behaving out of character.

I have no qualms with her acting out of character, Akka. Infact, it is normal and absolutely relatable that he freaked her out and she's going out of her character.

But...going out of the character doesnt mean she'd forget her very basics.

Like see, I loved that she's sassy. I loved that she's gathered enough courage to give it right back oon his face. I loved that she stood up to him instead of cowering away. I loved all these bits of her. I even liked her out of character streak when she went into a James Bond mode and sneaked into Advay's room (just after he became the owner of the Haveli). Those..are the kind of out of character traits that I liked.

I am half hearted here when I say that I was even fine when she made a fake video. Coz hey, he made the posters and hung them around the city. Its like tit-for-tat.

What I dint like is that she used this to get him out of his own house. His house, and kicking him out of it?

It doesnt seem any differnt than Indrani kicking Dev's family out of their house and position in the city.

This is just a mellower version of it.

See, if Shikha would have done this, or even Megha, I'll be fine, coz hey, their characterization is such. They are normal gurls who are flawed.

But Chandni was the best, remember? Why would she stoop to do this?

But that said, it is not normal to hide such important thing as advay's true intentions from Indrani and seek the younger siblings' silly schemes to drive advay from his own house with not an ounce of self respect is out of character, totally. But I guess its hereditary. After all that entire family has been living someone else' fortune for years now. To marry PP just to save her family from bankruptcy is not Chandni. She might as well have confronted Indrani and could have been shown to have succumbed to her emotio all blackmailing. She was shown to help Indrani in her quest for temple wealth. Hence it is a gross negligence in building her character.

Exactly, my point. Had they not showed that Chandni is someone who grew up to be someone above what her mother is, above the normal flawed girls who lives and leads her life on morals, all of what they are showing right now would have been perfectly fine by me.

The problem is, they tried to show Chandni as an Angel, but she is not exactly one. She's got her grays too, that too quite significant ones.

Chandni who said it is not necessary to hurt to win someone cannot hurt advay the way she did intentionally.

But you know that this point is invalid after today's episode, dont you?

I want to believe that as a normal human reaction to have been manipulated to become a reason for her family's badnaam. But it wasn't done convincingly.

Again, my point altogether. Why is she getting down to doing things that are otherwise screaming out loud in contradiction to what her innate characterization is?

I still want to give her benefit of doubt since she does cry when advay bleeds as shown in the spoilers. I want to believe that she wasn't aware of what awaited advay in that rasam.

Erhm.

So to conclude, yes I agree that Chandni is not white, and has shades of grey, but despite being portrayed as flawless in the initial episodes, her change in character touching on hues of grey is possibly because of advay's aggressiveness.

I kinda agree and disagree with this.

Her aggressiveness is something I would really expect and want rather than see her like a door mat.

But the methods and schemes she is taking up and encouraging? That's not the Chandni of IPK3. She is sassy, she is funny, she is admirable. But she is not someone who would hurt and badnaam people just coz its gonna help her get rid of them. Thats making her look like a mellowed version of Indrani. A harmless one, at that.

Hi candy thank u sooo Mich for making this post...I totally agree with you when you say you cant relate to chandni! I feel the same way too! Since the beginning of the show makers have tried to show that advay is going to hurt chandni while chandni was shown the kind of healer but what has actually happened is advay has consciously or unconsciously always protected her while she always hurts him!

To me she comes across as a person sitting on a high horse and judging advay...usually in Gul shows if not totally I can relate to the heroines on some level but I m not able to connect to chandni like you want to throw a man out of his own house? Sure you need money so u must marry? Ever heard of doing a job?

Maybe in the upcoming episodes I might start liking her hopefully but right now I can't connect to her or her pain on any level..
