Barun Sobti: I don't have much to prove at this point in my career
Barun Sobti doesn't believe in restricting himself to one medium. Be it films, TV or web series, the actor wants to explore all options. However, he refuses to use the word balancing'.
"There is nothing to balance. I will take up good work in any medium and work simultaneously if possible. As an actor, I will go for characters that have the potential to grow and can also create a connect with the audience. I also look for how much space there is to experiment around the character. Medium is the last thing on my mind, says Barun, who is known for shows such as Baat Hamari Pakki Hai and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?.
At this point in his career, Barun believes in sweating it out rather than being greedy for better offers. "I have been working for quite some time now, so I guess people know what I am capable of. I don't want to sound proud, but there is nothing much to prove on my part. For me, it's more like taking up as many challenges as possible and trying to live up to everyone's expectations along with mine, adds Barun.When Barun left his show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? at the peak of its popularity, many thought he had decided to concentrate on films. His debut film was Main Aur Mr. Riight (2014), opposite Shenaz Treasury. "I never said I was quitting TV. When I got a good film offer I decided to give it a try. I did a web series in the middle, too. My focus has always been on doing substantial work, he says.
Barun is now playing the role of Advay Singh Raizada in Iss Pyaar Ko Main Kya Naam Doon 3 a character with several shades of grey. "When I was offered the role, I took it up because it isn't a regular character. For some he is the hero, for others he is a real villain. There are various layers to this character, shares the actor.
