This episode was really heavy on the plot detail. There is much to discuss.
Indrani points out that while the letter was given to her, the threat looms on the entire family. The tidal wave doesn't just endanger the boat, it endangers the people in the boat too. Its a chain effective, one that will shake the foundation of their home and everything they worked for. They must be cautious. Indrani gets a call, she is shocked.
The scene transitions to IndShaKa (Indrani, Shakuntala, and Kajol) finding Chandni on the bench. Questions arise. They believe the kidnappers have returned, but Chandni tells them it was someone else. Indrani asks who, and Chandni cannot explain. Advay stands in the back, expressionless again. He prophesized, this is but a small gale, the storm is yet to come.
Side Note: Advay, why was this a good idea? What is the plan?
Indrani is outraged. She slaps the guards, asking them how they could let this happen? Indrani's motherhood is shown. In the three episodes, we see Indrani, we see her as cunning woman. She is dark, and vicious. She is capable of doing a lot. However the scene here makes her go from black to gray. Their is a humanity in Indrani when it comes to her daughter. Although this could be spun as Chandni being too important to the Maha Aarti so this level of aggression is justified, but the later bits in the episode are more proof.
The scene moves to morning, and new characters are introduced. Shikha and Meghna Vashisht. Two sisters returning from Banaras after a pooja. They learn of the incident that occurred. The contrast between Shikha and Meghna are laid out in front of us. The juxtaposition shown, Shikha is over the top and Meghna is sensible. They are depressed for Chandni and work to cheer their big sister up. Their sisterhood is beautiful. Chandni got depressed, she wallowed in her torment and memories, she is clearly traumatized by the kidnapping. Shikha lightened the mood. And the sisters share a laugh. This is so important to Chandni's mental health. She has people who handle her and stand by her pain. Shikha was ready to fight someone. This is different for Advay who has had no support (as far as we see) in this show. Their is no one who he could lean on for emotional support like Chandni can. I'm sure time will change that though. (*cough* Chandni and Miku *cough*)
On a note for Chandni's character, they showed such a clear difference between Khushi and Chandni. Khushi has an ego and she does fight, and try to beat Arnav. Chandni doesn't want to fight anyone, she believes in victory without making the other side lose. This is going to be very symbolic to how Chandni manages to pacify Advay. How she will defeat him without making him lose. That is a for shadow of their future battles. Very prophetic.
We even get scenes where ChaMegShi copy the O'Bros (Ishqbaaz) and their cooking together thing. Its the time of the Va'Sis (get it? O'Bros.. Va'Sis? No? I'm sorry.) This bit really shows the bond between the sisters. The song Piya Piya plays. The beat works well for the cooking montage.
The scene moves to Advay calling Shilpa. Shilpa is revealed to be working for Advay. Where does Advay live? Is he a rich man? He lives in a big house. Yaar, Chandni's sasural looks great on the outside. Very modern. Back on topic, Shilpa is in distress, she's too busy to answer the phone and there are too many people. From Shikha, Meghna or Kajol. She can't catch a break, her phone falls into the pool.
Advay talks about visiting the Haveli because Shilpa is not responding.
The re-shifts to the sisters playing together, having pillow fights. Indrani is seen. The mother looks unamused as their nervously stop playing. The scene shifts back to Advay entering the Haveli, but more on that later. Indrani is not mad, she asks them whether they are done or not with a half-smile. Indrani comes to check on Chandni. The mother daughters have a moment. Probably one of the few moments we will get when the raita hits the fan. These moments are fleeting. Indrani leaves after getting a call from Shaku, Indrani lies to Chandni and leaves.
Back to Advay entering the Haveli. This was his home. The home that those who do the Maha Aarti stay in. As soon as he is at the doorstep, the memories start flowing through. It flashes. His father, his family. In the order he lost them in. The pain overwhelms him, he is moved to tears almost. What once was is no more. The scene actually moves me to tears because they look so completed. Dev and Chandni are playing together. Dev is chasing Miku. These memories kept him breathing. They are the reason he is here. He has become stone, just like this house. There is no life here anymore. Just greed and insanity.
Advay's difference between Arnav is more clear now. Advay remembers his pain through happy moments, while Arnav remembered his pain through tragic moments. They drown themselves differently. Which is why a trail of fire follows Advay, because Advay is burning himself.
Advay makes a very Om Shanti Om type dialogue. This is where his ruin had started, in this house, and their will ruin will end in this house as well. So like, where the story started, its going to end? SRK said this to Arjun, right?
Also cute Dev and Chandni moment where he kisses her on the forehead. That'll happen again in time as Advay falls in love or accepts his feelings rather. Miku is present in this flashback too. The music says they would never separate, because that's how strong their bond is. I feel like this is both ironic to what their relationship is now, but a foreshadow to what their relationship will be in the future.
Back to the story, Shilpa tries to watch, but gets nowhere. Shaku and Kajol try using their brains to figure out who sent the love letter. Indrani dismisses their leads. This clearly shows that not only is Indrani the leader, but she is the brains too.
In the next part, Indrani and Advay speak in contrast. Advay is trying to figure out who exactly was involved in this scheme, while Indrani states lots of people were involved. It could be anyone. Advay, however, has leads. The man with the golden watch, the man with the golden tooth, the lady with the payal, and the man with the peacock keychain. All future villains. They were given scenes to show their unique traits, so they have to be important to the story. Its interesting to note that Indrani and Advay have common enemies, and while they are enemies of each other, it would be wiser to get rid of the other players first. I wouldn't mind seeing a team up in this sense because Indrani does have some semblance of humanity, and I wouldn't mind her working together with him, but thats just me.
Dev was taught at a young age that humans cannot punish others because its wrong, but Advay has disregarded this. He will make sure that everyone involved will be given a sort of death. Not outright murder, but a feeling of death and despair.
Shilpa sees Advay, they talk, she explains herself. IndShaKa are talking about the love letter openly, Shilpa points to them. As they try reading it again, Advay gets a click, and IndShaKa turn dramatically and the episode ends. I don't know what's more silly, the fact that IndShaKa were discussing this stuff openly, or that Advay doesn't turn the volume down on his phone. So much for discreet...
The precap reveals Advay is fine, which was granted. Advay has Chandni's bag, he asks her to meet him on the roof.
