I'm on the fence about this show. Like many people I started watching just because of Fahmaan and I can see why he accepted this role. Making your mark in a show with a large cast, that too with many seasoned actors, is not easy. Plus he's probably excited about playing a Sardar and a Sufi character. Dharampatni was a typical EK show that you couldn't expect too much from and there were way too many people in that show. I had wondered why he took that up but when I watched a few scenes I felt it was because he wanted a clear departure from the Aryan Singh Rathore role so as not to be typecast as the angry young man type of actor.

I feel like they are taking time to set the background of the other characters, which is great because focusing only on leads ends up reducing opportunities to drive interesting story arcs. Ranbir's dynamics with each of his family members is being shown clearly. I do agree that they shouldn't take too long to have the leads meet. Hopefully it will be in tomorrow's episode - they shouldn't drag this anymore. I like the fact that so far we don't have out an out goody too shoes or villains. I like nuance and grays.

Some of the background stories seem to be similar to what I've seen on other shows, e.g. the brother-bhabi conflict is similar to YRKKH (even the profession), the aunt having mental health issues and the reasons for it are a lot like in GHKPM, FL idolizing an older sister who doesn't deserve it, like in Imlie.

I also feel like there are too many people in Ranbir's family but perhaps that's the point, to serve as a contrast to Meghla's 4-member one, along with all the cultural contrasts. As long as they're shown to have their own arcs that drives the story, I don't mind, because one thing that many shows lack in ITV is fleshing out side characters. They tend to make them one dimensional or have them just stand in the background to support leads without adding much to the story. At some point the leads' arcs dry up and then they start showing crap but if the leads' dynamics with each of the members is shown then it could take the story forward really well. There's a music connection that the aunt, the brother and eventually Meghla will also have, that should be well explored. I just hope they won't have Adrija chasing Ranbir, I'm so over the whole two sisters fighting over the same man, or even two women fighting over the same man, in general.

So far I like Ranbir's character showing respect to everyone and finding his own way of diffusing tension at home without appearing OTT. I also love that he's not trying overly hard to drag the whole family to the family trip and is ok to travel alone. I know it's a plot point to get Meghla and Ranbir to meet and spend time alone in a foreign city (because how else do leads from completely different backgrounds meet, lol) but I hope they'll show Ranbir visiting all the places his mother told him about. Darjeeling is known for its natural beauty and I'm hoping he'll explore that, while also falling in love with a human beauty too.

I also suspected that Meghla is the Iraboti's kid but not sure yet. It would be an interesting twist if it was actually Adrija that was the adopted one, which makes her resentful but perhaps they wanted to show that Meghla feels insecure and keeps wanting Adrija's approval because she doesn't want to feel like an outsider. I wonder if she knows she's adopted and I wonder if Ranbir's mom will find out about this before or after the wedding.

By the way, is it me or are the episodes short? Typically episodes are 21-22 mins long, and when a new show is launched they often tend to be up to 30 mins long in the initial days but this show's episodes are only about 18-19 minutes. I wonder if it's because they only started shooting recently and don't have much stock footage yet.

Regarding the show's success, I think they have a good chance of doing well if the team can pull off exploring various arcs and keeping things balanced: sometimes serious, sometimes lighthearted. I do hope they bring some novelty in the story and execution, rather than recycling plots from other shows, otherwise they will have wasted the talent of most of the crew, especially Fahmaan and Shalini. I hope for his sake the show does well, he needs and deserves a hit now.

I didn't think he'd be back on screen so soon after his last show but I was pleasantly surprised to see the promos. I wonder why it was so short notice and not much promo was done for this show.

I had loved him in Apna Time Bhi Ayega and only recently binge watched Imlie just for him and became a fan. Couldn't handle his two previous shows (Dharampatni and KM) because of the boring stories but found his performance to be top notch. He's easily one of the best actors on ITV nowadays and I hope he gets his due in this show, and that it lasts at least 1 year.

Second..why is it ki FL has to be shown as an abla naari..yaar kabhi toh koi tantrums throw karne waali..yet kind-hearted ladki dikha do..

For some reason i felt like slapping Adrija..the way she speaks to Meghla..is just too horrible..

But let see..what is in the future for this show..

The FL seems to have low self esteem and I am hoping that after meeting Ranbir she'll have more faith in herself. I think he's going to appreciate her talent and perhaps those two will end up playing cupid, reconnecting the aunt and the guru again, which in turn allows her to feel a sense of self worth.

I was wondering at first whether it's Adrija who was adopted but seems like most people think it's Meghla.

On the other hand..my hand is itching to slap Adrija..and why is the need to FL such mahan..soft spoken..yaar..she can be kind hearted..but she has to open her mouth as well..faltu ki bezzati kyun sehen karni hain..

Should i write an one shot on it..the Meghla..i wanted to see..in the show..

I agree, we need to have some patience. The first couple of weeks are a bit slow as they establish everyone's background story. I'm sure it will pick up.

I'm still eager to see how the story unfolds. For once, we don't have an ML who's suffering because of daddy/mommy issues, dark past, conflict with family, etc. Rather, it's the FL who's got a lot of issues to deal with in terms of her sister, her low self confidence, her lack of resolve, and hero(ine) worshiping her sister who doesn't care about her. Maybe meeting Ranbir is the catalyst that helps her start to value herself and have an identity that doesn't need her sister's validation.

Yes please write a one-shot.

Wanted to check out the serial for Fahmaan but nah. Dropping it. ML's family is so big and it is very confusing when they are all dressed the same like some uniform colours. Can't tell who is who.

FL is really dumb and shows why when you don't have boundaries or a spine, you create problematic relationships. Yes, the older sister is insecure, entitled and bratty but if you keep giving in, the entitlement only becomes worse. When you don't have self-respect, why would someone respect you? Obviously you are ripe to be stepped on.

This is why you need boundaries but where in serials will they show a FL who knows how to draw boundaries in a healthy manner. Instead they glorify being a doormat smiley44

I tried to watch all the episodes so far back to back. ML is kind person but his elder brother is annoying and just keeps venting his frustration onto everyone, including his kids. He keeps cribbing about being forced into the family business despite against his wishes. I felt bad for his wife.

Seems like ML's mentally disturbed aunt was married to Adrija's (FL) music teacher and their marital life was spoiled by her father (hence seems like an issue of marrying outside their community).

FL is way too submissive in front of her elder sister. Her father tries his best to keep her on her toes but seems unsuccessful at times. Mother doesn't seem to have much control over her elder daughter publicly humiliating her younger daughter & just berates Adrija for spoiling her elder sister's birthday.

Maybe I might give it few more episode but I'll admit that, I'm kinda impatient person so I'm also bit on the fence that might discontinue watching if there's isn't much to be added as it just seems like a lot of issues going on both families especially the Punjabi family sharing a lot of SS in comparison to the Bengali family,
