Never watched Ishqbaaz before.. watched DBO on hotstar and have to say RiKara are awwweeesome!
Well actually my bhabhi watches ishqbaaz on utsav so watched an episode there and immediately fell for RiKara! Even ShivIka are cute!
Started with the episode where Gauri's maa meets with an accident and instead of being an abla naari like most of them she picked her up on her back! That made me interested in this character and Omkara is everything you would want in a guy!

Well now the real question. Who is Ishaana? And what was her role in Om's life?
Because watched a clip of Omkara and Shivaay where om was telling him about love.. you know "sach mein dhal jaate hai kissey dil se daurane ke baad, ishq pe hoga yaqeen ishq ho jaane ke baad" maaan!! Who wouldn't fall for this Omkara? The caring, artistic, poetic one.. but when i started watching it he was a khadoos judgmental man who didn't believe in love.. so as far as i can assume Ishaana was the reason for this?

I'm more than glad that i didnt watch ishaana part.. no offense to the fans i really like vrushika from sharon days but ishaana i am glad i didnt watch! I'm happy woth RiKara

Well, Ishana was the con artist who wanted to con Omkara, to know more about them you need to see IB from the start, SU par nahi but hotstar par dekhna and no Ishana was not the reason. Omkara change because of his father. DBO starting se pahle ke 2 3 episode dekh lo, you will see another side of Omkara Abhi me uske liye write karna start karugi tho khatam hi nahi hoga, If you wanted to know the REAL Omkara, You should watch IB from the start(Only Omkara's part 😉) in hotstar. SU me sab kuch edit hogya hai. I am sure you will not regret and fall in love with him 😳

Glad you're happy with RiKara.

Unlike some of us unlucky people, who are still, and will always be Ishkara fans :/ Ishaana was a con-artist, who was after the Oberoi family's wealth. She pretended to be helpless, to gain Om's trust, but inevitably, he found out. They had a gorgeous confrontation around episode 70, and that was the end of VM's track. As a character, Ishaana was one of the reasons, including his ex-girlfriend, Ridhimma and his father, that Om's faith in humanity, and the world started to dim down. However, the main person that did set of this apparent personality shift was Tej. Cue a set of episodes later, and Om became a slightly more poetic version, and long-haired of Shivaay on DBO, and that was the end of that.

Honestly, Om's initial character sketch on Ishqbaaaz was beautiful, and if you can leave aside the injustice that you're doing to RiKara by watching the episode with Ishaana in it, I would really recommend it. It's something that genuine Om fans will always hold onto. I don't mean to hurt sentiments, but I do think that the writers did drop the ball with Om in DBO. He started off as this heartbroken yet somehow, still faithful artist that found humanity within him, as a result of the embitterment that his past and broken family granted him. Somehow, he was transformed into something else though.

Dang. I do miss the original Omkara!

Hello!

Umm, so I guess you already have an idea of Ishaana from the other answers. Though imo Ishaana's track was really lame 'cos all she did was dance and try to gain Om's attention. They had one beautiful scene where Om talks about 'Dard'. That scene was very nice. Their confrontation, frankly, did not make any sense to me, 'cos Ishaana's argument was that rich can't understand why poor people need to stoop to conning. And I was like Annika is poor too but she is not going around conning people 😕 Ishaana track was written very poorly. Vrushika did her best, but the CVs 🥱 Vrushy deserved better and I'm glad she quit.

I won't say she is the reason for Om's change. More than Ishaana, I think Riddhima's betrayal had more of an impact on Om's psyche, 'cos they were in a live-in relationship for 3 years, she helped him come out of his drug issues. But ultimately Riddhima was a social climber, though she did care for Omkara. She kinda colluded with Tej to make Omkara sign papers that would make him an equal shareholder with Shivaay. Omkara signed the papers without reading 'cos he really trusted Riddhima and she well, cheated him. Om didn't want the share of the family business, and ultimately 'cos Om really loves his brother, Shivaay,, he broke up Riddhima and asked her to GTFO.

Svetty tried to frame Omkara in fake rape case. Also, ACP Ranveer tried to frame in his sister's accident case, which led to relapse into drugs.

The biggest reason for Om's change was Jahnvi trying to immolate herself because Tej wanted to divorce her and marry Svetty. 😡

Basically poor Om was cheated and betrayed too many times. Already he had a tough time coming out of drug issues, and his parent's marriage. Then in the 7 months before DBO he's betrayed time and again by several people. By the time DBO happens, he has sort of lost the battle, I think. He decides that he won't be fooled any longer, and become more like Shivaay. I guess he just had enough of people walking all over him.

I would suggest you watch the drug track of Omkara. Its my favorite track, and by far I felt the best acting of Kunal in the show. He really killed it.👏 It also explains why Om is like that. There is a lot of depression and darkness within him. It starts somewhere in October to almost whole of November.

Ishana was not the main reason for omkara's transformation, his father was. You can watch the episodes on Hotsar. Those episodes paved way for DBO. The transformation scenes were brilliant. You will end up cheering for the acting prowess of the actor.

As for Ishana, most of the fans weren't not happy with her character sketch and the track was going nowhere. So she was scrapped.

Rikara on the other hand clicked instantly for them. Them just being in one frame oozed chemistry. They are love. Though they didn't get the proper story but people just couldn't resist falling for them. And Shrenu is a brilliant actress. Gauri may not be a conventional female lead for some but the way shrenu portrayed gauri is brilliant.

Hey, thanks Unisha, haalim and Ananya, this was informative for me too, 'cos I haven't seen IB either, just a few bits here and there.

So lemme get this right?

1. Om was almost conned by Ishaana

2. Om was guilty of some accident by ACP Ranveer

3. Om relapsed into drugs because of that.

4. Om was betrayed by Riddhima

5. Om was framed in a fake rape case by Svetty

6. Om saw Jahnvi immolating herself because of Tej (this I saw in DBO flashbacks)

+ the baggage of his parents failed marriage since childhood which pushed him into drugs in the first place.

So, basically every possible betrayal under the sun has happened. Kuch bacha hai? 😲😲😲

God yes, the original Omkara was such an interesting character, so humble and genuine yet still set n his own ways where it came to truth and what he believed in. One of my favorite characters in the show at that point but then DBO happened and although they have tried to return him to somewhat of his previous characteristics, I feel like the writers are just confused as to what to do with him.

Anytime post the merger I see the old Om, I'm like "wahhh I miss you. "

Thanks all of you..

So I learn a lot about Omkara today

Well, from the very first promo of ishqbaaz I wanted to watch this show, but from already an experience of a show of two parallel leads, I did not. Like I fall for one of the couples and the other is given more heeds by CVs..

I would love to know more about Omkara but I'm kind of a very very possessive fan😆 You see I won't like seeing him romancing Riddhima or Ishaana😕

So I knew It was because of his father.. the way his parents' relationship was won't give him the best idea of love but again that was bitter from the start right, but he still believed in that poetic form of love..so I kind of thought this cannot be the only reason he's like this.

If Ishaana's excuse was that she was poor and that's why she conned him, then I'm sorry it's stupid.. Anika was one, but she never conned any rich to do anything. Gauri was one, but even after getting so so many chances by omkara himself, she never took a penny let go conning him(well in a way she did but that was All for the righteous).. just because you're helpless, you don't get a right to hurt others.. my belief.. you see humara viswas😆

About Omkara's transformation, now it looks pretty justified to me.. why I loved OK's character was because he never let situations mould him.. he was still that artistic guy who had faith even after his father's betrayal and all that.. but yeah, everyone has their limits..

Omkara was and is a beautiful character.. well, artistic type of guys are bae first thing. Then someone who looks like Kunal Jaisingh.. well, marry me😆

One thing that was admirable about Omkara Singh Oberoi was that no matter what happened, he might have lost faith in love but not in humanity.. after the perception he formed about Gauri, though misunderstood but he hated her.. he saw her like Svetlana.. a woman who could do anything for money.. he hated her more than anything, yet he saved her by risking his own life.. what else would prove how powerful and captivating Omkara's character was

About Gauri, I loved this character. As chulbul too, she unconditionally fulfilled her duties and never supported wrong.. if the problem was that she was too devoted towards omkara then yeah that's kind of old school but no.matter how much aaj ki womaniya she was, she was brought up in a place like bareilly..she was taught that..
