When the Tanya track was aired, I was ready to throw in the towel. But Rikara was so beautiful and there was so much to explore, so many tracks to see that I stayed, hoping for the Rikara story to play out. The confrontation scene, the separation and the Bareilly track gave me hope that we would get a closure to the Rikara tale, but I was wrong.

No track, no scene, no romance, no conversation, no screen space, nothing.

Guess it is time to give up.

Been on quite a journey with RiKara... just thought I'd rehash it in this brilliant opportunity Maha has given us...

Wrote this sooo long ago, yet some of it still fits... Most of you guys have probably already read it. This is before the Bareilly track and Kali reveal... I was such a hopeful chirraiya back then...

Omkara.

What is he?

The son of a businessman acting out to rebel against his father. The weak Oberoi brother who turned to drugs. The guy who can't see beyond his own pain long enough to refrain from misunderstanding an innocent woman. Quick to anger, even quicker to judge. The result of his father's neglect. A man who doesn't care about the woman he married. A man who values truth only when it suits him, and turns to lies as they benefit him. The man who met a girl briefly before becoming her unqualified judge, jury and executioner.

OR...

The artistic soul reared by a business family. The man who shouldered so much grief at a young age that his shoulder broke - he didn't know where to turn. The black sheep of the Oberois, who never ranked Naam, Khoon or Khandaan. Tej Singh Oberoi's heir - the rebel with the long hair. The man who forged his own path. The man whose patience ran thin in the face of constant atrocity. The result of his mother's love. A man who finds himself married, despite his own knowledge that he is not ready for that commitment. The one who tried to always embrace the path of truthfulness when it was left down to him, but found that every road was edged with gates of deceit. The man who came across a beautiful girl, one who questioned his upbringing (a question that weighs heavily on his mind), instantly disliked her because she symbolised everything he had to leave behind to protect himself (vishwaas' was her tagline), then found her about to wed a married man, whose wife was unfortunately his mother's namesake.

Ok, onto Gauri.

What is she?

An illiterate girl, who had a happy childhood (really this has been said on this forum). The Oberoi Bahu who has no angst in her own life so she invests herself in other's problems. The girl who always turns to lies but falls flat at becoming a grey character. The one who takes everything lying down from Omkara and his family. The typical Hindi Serial Bahu.

OR...

The girl who had to sacrifice her education after her ADOPTIVE father's death. The one who we saw practically raising her ADOPTIVE mother at the beginning of DBO. The one who was tortured, threatened and eventually sold by her ADOPTIVE Chacha - Chachi. The one who dealt with Kali Thakur (single-handedly in the end). The one who is really trapped in a meaningless relationship, but never looses her will. The one who has vishwaas'. The one who can forget her troubles for the betterment of the family, because that's all she's known her whole life. The DabaangRi who bulldozed Omkara's car in their first meeting because he unwittingly said he would crush her helplessness (Gauri's mother's illness) under his feet - of course he had not intended his words to have that meaning. The girl who defied tradition refusing to run for her mother's sake, but also refusing to lie down and take the atrocities Kali and his brothers had planned for her. The girl who still feels the guilt of her lies when it came to Omkara, be it Chulbul or the baby track, and this tempers her response to him. The girl who would never dream of actually stepping into grey shades, because to her she was only making her own path to the right destination, too innocent to ever fully understand the implications of her actions before being confronted with them.

Becoming Rikara.

Above everything else, Omkara is human. He is not invincible - he is not indestructible. He breaks, he stumbles. He makes mistakes, he commits sins. But isn't that what growth is all about? Why don't we give him some space to grow? It takes years in real life and yet we still relapse into our old ways. He's seen part of a picture and when have RiKara ever been given the space to talk so that they can prevent events like this? No I am not starting the SS debate - those who don't consider it an issue won't change their minds because of me. I am just pointing out until that happens can either really be blamed for misunderstanding the other's intentions. Yes he knows Gauri now, but does he really. He knows Gauri would risk her life for him, but Tej and Jhanvi also had a love marriage - that didn't last. People do change... Omkara knows that very well, so how can he put his heart on the line for someone he cannot claim to truly know. He knew Chulbul, but he is still unaware as to how much of that was reality. The only way to dispel his fear is to really communicate with Gauri. This coming track could potentially lead to the explosion that would accommodate for that, because yes people, for the first time since the merger WE HAVE A TRACK! Sense my excitement much?😉😆

Above everything else, Gauri is human. She is not weak, but even her strength can falter. She has endless stores of vishwaas' which allow her to show patience and can be perceived as her standing down and taking it. She is still so young so obviously she will think to listen to what more experienced people advise her, and given how Om and Gauri never have these real conversations (times very limited in an hour show, yaar), she will be swayed by others on what Om thinks of her. Pinky's constant jibes do have some effect. The sanctity of marriage has been drilled into her from a young age - why would she change her beliefs and forget Omkara now? Anyone who saw DBOs last episode knows that for Gauri it has always been a battle between her self-respect and this belief, hence she takes a lot of Om's taunts silently, but that will end. When that happens it can only strengthen their relationship.

...

So... I was right and wrong... RiKara retained their epicness when ever they're seen as RiKara... otherwise, our ship has disappeared... what a waste of brilliance... We got the Bareilly track that began amazingly, but then sidetracked completely... yet another example of the inconsistency of the writers...

Also, because I have nothing better to do... obviously😆... I thought I'd share my very first analysis on RiKara... in my headcanon, all these things are still true even if the writers refuse to show it on the screen...

...

Well if they want to strip it back to what the two characters are as individuals, then we have a girl who thrives on belief and and a man who has lost his belief in most things.

Gauri is someone who has seen hardship (I mean from what we've seen of her Maa, she can't look after herself, let alone independently raise a child), she never had a real childhood, but despite all of that I see her as an innocent. Probably the most innocent on the show (barring Rudra, who ShivOm have babied to the extreme - but that's what makes his character lovable because despite being so spoiled he has a good heart... OK gonna Shut up about Rudra now), because although she can handle herself against villains and all, she understands very little about relationships. The reason I found it so hard to believe Om never questioned his misunderstandings about her is because she just doesn't understand the complexity of a mature relationship. It is all fiction and Shiv Parvati for her. There is no deceit veiled behind beauty in her mind, which is why her initial reaction to Svetlana was confusion: Why would a woman be a threat to her fiance? Why would she spy on her fiance? She avoids initiating contact with Om because she doesn't understand the effect she can have on him, and takes his every reaction as anger, every frustration as anger. Does he never wonder why she hasn't taken advantage of her beauty, or rather is it the extent that he's attracted to her that makes Om convinced she is purposefully enticing him? Either way she sees marriage as a golden opportunity to happiness and even her short tenure as GOSO (how wonderful it has been), has not changed her mind on that.

On the other hand we have Omkara, who has seen the worst kind of marriage. For his mother marriage was the sweet honey trap that sucked her in, clipped her wings, and grounded her for life. For his father marriage was just an inconvenience and the relationship he had no desire to nurture. I personally don't think Om fears becoming his mother in marriage - he's had relationships previously and was always open to the idea of falling in love. I think his deep rooted fear is falling out of love. Once upon a time Jhanvi and Tej loved each other enough that she eloped from home to marry him, then after marriage and children he fell out of love. I think Om worries that if he marries then he will one day fall out of love with his wife, and that will turn him into Tej Singh Oberoi - his worst nightmare. Om's issue is not with Gauri, his issue is with himself.

The problem is that Om's worries are beyond Gauri's comprehension, so she needs to see more of TejKara interaction, as it's the only way for her to understand him. As for Omkara, I think when he finally falls in love fully, his worries will mean nothing. He will love Gauri so fully that there will be no other option than binding her to him, and once he feels real love he will become sure that there is no way to fall out of it, as it will become his reason to breathe.

...

That's all from me Maha... stay blessed...

P.S. I miss my RiKara...

Infact I fell in love with them only after reading the awesome stories on this thread and the amazing Vms made by the creators.
I have not watched DBO to tell you the truth.
Only watching Rikara Vms and reading fabulous Rikara stories I fell irrevocably in love with them.
And I love them undoubtedly.
They are the best for me.
Infact I log in on IF for reading Rikara stories only.

For Shrenu❤️
I was glad that she is back to shows. I knew nothing about the show or spinoff. I have seen all those off-screen segments, which are a delight!⭐️ Such a beautiful pairing! I decided to follow the show, once I got the break. As soon as I found time, I logged in to IF to meet my Shrenians and to know about her new show. I happened to see a SPA title song video on DBO forum. And have been playing it on a loop for the entire day. Curious to know their onscreen story, I watched few airing episodes and was surprised to see them married already. While I was still watching the intial episodes trying to figure it out what went wrong between them. The merger happened. I wanted to give it up, but the last two episodes didn't let me go. I was greatly disappointed after the merger, cause my only point of interest is Rikara, who are hardly seen on the screens.

I take this opportunity to appreciate the efforts of all the insta uploaders. Thank u so much guys. Without you, I wouldn't be able to catch up on my Rikara after merger.

Though it's been months I have last seen them, I couldn't get over them. Thats the reason I'm still around this friendly forum looking out for Rikara FFs and to cherish them again. They have a unique charm that doesn't fade away easily. Rikara will be always special ❤️
