I used to catch up with the show during my diwali vacations b/c i was home and i loved the initial episodes. They had a lot of effort put into it in terms of writing and it SHOWED.
And then somewhere I stopped but I did watch the forced wedding out of curiosity and that killed all the interest I had in the show. I absolutely disliked the way they handled the aftermath of that wedding and well lets just leave it at that.
I actually dint know dbo existed till I think kundali bhagya was announced even tho I did catch glimpses of DBO while flipping channels.
Then comes October.. I came home for my job/internship and by chance happened to see the SP video on yt and I lost my heart and eventually got back to watching/catching up with DBO and then continued on.
And then I stopped again with the ghanti walli woman thing and all that nonsense. I just check caps for updates and download episodes for vms but now toh that also doesn't happen.

I was not happy with merger either but I think the merger was unavoidable though. It would have happened sooner or later.

What I didn't like was each and every track revolving around two characters, and every other character forced to compromise their story for those two characters.

The writers should have given every couple its separate track, and separate track does not mean outdoor shoots, no, it means them having a life outside of solving each other's problem.

I love the Obros, but its like they are in an unhealthy relationship, where they are always trying to solve each others problems. Bhai tum apna dekho na?

I love the BrOTPs of this show. Instead of group scenes, which were cringey and below high school musical standards, I've would've liked dual scenes, for example:

1. ShivRi rakhi scene, or any ShivRi scene (except the one where Shivaay tells Gauri to go that infernal exhibition, even though she tells him that its a matter of her self-respect and she doesn't want to go)

2. AniRi scenes, especially Suman ki shaadi track. Give me a show with only AniRi and I'll watch, I love these two women so much.❤️ And they are much better off without their hubs. 🥱

3. ShivKara scenes, because no one understands Shivaay or Omkara better than they each other. Shivaay, since the beginning of IB, listens only to Om, and Shivaay understands Om the best.

4.AniRu scenes, 'cos they are a riot 😆

5.RuRi scenes 'cos they are the cutest, and most innocent. 😳

6. Of course, Obros scenes.
But not when they are discussing each others love lives, and Shivaay of all people is giving his brothers advice on love.

Whenever the 6 leads are together I feel like banging my head on the wall. 🤢

All the screenspace wasted on the threesome of Svetty, Tej and Jahnvi, post-merger, could have been used to show Rikara, Ruvya, and the BrOTPs. All that Peter Kaveri nonsense wasted everyone's time and was a major turnoff. None of the three fandoms were interested in it. And everyone was wondering what the hell is going on. 🤢

Merger could have worked, but the tracks, ugh what a waste. Imagine having 6 talented actors working together, three different love stories to interest the audience, but all potential wasted.

True, the merge was unavoidable, but I still hated it.

Honestly speaking, I never had any expectations with either show and stopped analyzing the characters because after a certain point all daily soaps are sacrificed at the TRP altar, but I wanted to be entertained. I didn't find a single episode entertaining after the merge. That's not a slight on the cast or any of the characters, but that's just how I felt. I never expected quality writing and gave up any development for the females, but the show should be entertaining. That's why we watch, right? To be entertained.

I agree the focus has always been Shivika with a lot of villains/ vamps thrown into the mix. I gave up on any development for any of the FLs after the grey FL turned into the Bela/Mala nonsense then Anika and Saumya's development was completely ignored. However, I'm not sure why it's so difficult to development Omru's characters. Even in DBO when there was no Shivika neither was explored or developed. At one point, the writers completely wrote off Rudra from both shows then he returned with a rushed love story. I'm not sure if this lack of development stems from losing their original leads or the writers are just lazy. I don't care about SS, but even with a two-minute scene a character can be developed. The issue for me is lack of development for all the characters and none of the characters entertain me anymore. Again, this is not a slight on any of the actors or actresses.

To play devil's advocate, Shivika has been comprised as well during the merge to make Omru's love story on equally footing. All 3 couples were at various stages in their relationship, but for some reason CVS forced them all into one box and Shivika suffered. Shivika's confession was rushed to get to Gauri's rescue and Om's confession in Bareilly. After 400+ episodes and waiting for Shivaay's confession it was thrown at us and then onto the next track. Shivika's SR became a family project and used for comedy gags. I understand others might feel like this is normal in joint families to tease each other or discuss these things openly, but I disagree. I found Omru, Gauri, and Bhavya actively participating in planning Shivika's SR weird. It made me extremely uncomfortable. On top of that, CGI tiger was ordered online for another group comedy scene. Most recently, the vanvaa track build-up about Shivaay's letting go of his NKK and building his own empire was forsaken when Omru, Gauri, and Bhavya came to Goa. After all the emotional buildup of the separation, but then all the couples were dancing in the garden alone with no guests.

Completely agree with you about the OBros. I have always preferred everyone minded their own business like in the past. The family would interact in normal and non-cringey ways in the past then go about their business. The assembly line, handholding, and hugs all started after the merge. I'm not sure how dressing like each other and switching personalities is supposed to prepare Rudra for marriage 😆

I feel like the writers even ruined the OBro bond with the saturation of the unnecessary "bonding and girls vs boys silliness. In the past, they discussed issues and had different personalities, but after the merge the spark is dulled. All they do is romance in unison, dance, and hug each other. The merge would have been a perfect opportunity to create bonds and show everyone's love story, but it's unfortunate it didn't happen. I feel like no character benefited from the merge. I'm tolerating all of them right now instead of rooting for them like I used to.

i would say the story started going downhill after anlka came back after the lapse, it turned into complete comedy and i hated shivaay's look for some reason he did not look like himself it was the hair color and the way he started to style his hair. Also mentioned by everyone else the group romance thing started than.
But in terms of losing interest i would probably say right when tanya happened it was so repetitive.

I found IB interesting , with periods of disinterest , till Shivika reunion . Some how I managed to watch till Shivika 2nd marriage but after that with that Tanya track it was a shitty show and steadily deteriorated . Now the only thing that interests me about IB is - when is it going to end ?? It has turned into such a pathetic excuse of a show.

I really respect everyone's sentiments about their likes/dislikes - we all have separate POVs. However let's be constructive in criticism otherwise it can be taken as bashing and hurt the sentiments of others. 😊
