And then you have IB here where someone like Shakti will go for months without saying anything substantial, hence that whole "Bhaisaab please" has become such a fandom trope

Great shows often have a really good supporting cast...which IB somewhat does with Nitika Anand and Mahesh Thakur and even Leenesh. That's why I feel that vanvaas track started out really well initially cuz they all gave stellar performances alongside SC-NM. Stellar performances have always saved IB, cuz lets be honest...it has always had a mediocre script. That's nothing new.

+ Not giving supporting characters anything to do is just lazy writing.

OmRu are dropping into Goa and their parents aren't saying anything is just so odd. Really Tej should be giving them ultimatums to choose the Oberois vs Shivaay. It's only Gauri at home who is getting the taunts from TejVi. There's a sudden one-mistake policy in OM now where once a mistake is done, Tej will do that person's shraadh😕 But Tej himself who has been oscillating between wife and mistress since the beginning of the show expects to be forgiven for his actions.I do agree like if OmRu were allowed to be stronger characters, they would be interjected less into the Shivika plotlines.

It's not necessary that they have to be strong. It's more about stepping up to the challenge or at least trying to...Characters can be feeble and yet find their own niche to grow and contribute something meaningful to the overall storyline.

I watched QH (unfortunately), that's why I called this track "QH-esque". I had to take the episodes on a day to day basis, because I was so hot and cold with them, but I figured hey if the trp audience likes it, then I can't really complain...well whaddya know😆

Lol, same...that is why I was weary of the Raavan track since the beginning😆

I agree that initially Anika is vulnerable in certain situations, such as her fear of the dark. But once the NDE's became repetitive, it was a bit odd that she wasn't shown brainstorming a trap with Shivaay. Especially when the bluetooth idea worked immediately.

Hmm. I didn't expect so much of her cuz I thought the repeated attacks probably took a toll on her both mentally and physically. I personally like that she shows her vulnerability in such situations, it makes her more relatable.

With Shivaay, he does trust people with NKK. But even if they're strangers. I'm reminded of that line he said to Prinku's husband (forgot his name😆): that he's not so forward with people he doesn't know

Ah, okay.

Why is the wedding in Goa? Destination wedding😆...that's the only possible explanation that I can come up with lol

Hahah, that was meant to be a rhetorical question.😆

@CG and Ruz

You know had they continued to follow the original Ramayan story as they have been, it would've gone really really well but it's the way they don't have the commitment to see a track through is what puts me off. If you've started something do try and end it, at least!

Anyway, I honestly believe IB hasn't got long. May be March-April (which frankly, is stretching it) but if that is the case, then I want HS to write like her life depended on it, like she'll never again pick up a pen. And without caring for TRPs please. Give her at least that much freedom now that the end may be near. Forget about salvaging the show and try to salvage the characters. Leave us with an ending we'll forever cherish <3

Sorry for getting a bit senti 😆

Agree

If the show is going to end, we all deserve better ending. Something that will make us forget all bitterness the show spread.

Kal ho na ho so we should get to cherish some good moments.

Awesome post Ruby, joining the party late.
Agree, the plot is list again. We are all left wondering what the heck is going in, where it's gonna lead.
I love shivika, and we got some beautiful scenes, which if seen apart from the story are beautiful.
Wish omru were given more substance
RuVya track is out of nowhere , thoda build up dete. And can't forgive them foe bringing sumo in uo do the deed. Should have left sleeping dogs lie.

And as Risha said, give us an ending to cherish.

The vanvaas track was something that could have been interesting; something that could have nicely included all the characters. But it really looks a mess.

Firstly, this random Raavan was not needed at all. Shivika could have been shown struggling to set their life away from home; Shivaay trying to set his independent business and maybe Anika too could be shown taking up some work. But the way things are shown it seems that the only problem of leaving OM is having to deal with a 'Raavan'.

And at OM.. I have no idea what is the point of keeping Tia there. She makes no sense in the story. And what are OmRu doing? Are they even trying to handle the Oberoi business? And amidst all this, there is going to be a random Ruvya wedding as well. Honestly, I can't connect with any of the characters or this track anymore.

Much needed post. The track certainly isn't what anybody actually wanted. Pain of separation kahi hawa main udd gaya.
I have a lot of complaints as well but time constraints :/
Just one question though, if Shivaay gave everything that he had under OmRu's name (remember, woh khud sadak pe aa gaya? ) and the other half of the whole property is Svet's, how did Shivaay, all by himself decide that he could use their Goa vacation home for vanvaas? I mean, Tej wanted Anika to give all her jewellery, but he's completely okay with Shivaay using such a big, well-furnished house with even barbecue?

That's just great. I love how Tej is so considerate about his nephew.

Just watched yesterday's episode. Honestly, I felt like breaking my phone's screen after seeing Tej. Can we not even get Om standing up against him? Like he used to go all Mr. Oberoi in a thunderous voice to protect Janhavi. Now his own wife is being declared pretty much dead and he just stands by and then walks away to Goa. I am pretty much in a desperate need for a scene where OmRu blast at TejVi. It is needed to make this vanvaas even a tad bit sensible.

exactly rish - this over stretch is honestly diluting the characters. i dont get why a proper decent end is not given so the shows are remembered years down the road

the nonsense they have shown with veer is beyond stupid and it legit looks like a horror show now. we had ravan in the form of daksh already - this lets mock science and haryanvi villain was not needed just to see shivaay jealous 😆😆

and also even though raavan was intelligent (hence 10 heads) but egoistic which ultimately lead to his downfall, ram was never stupid trusting any random neighbor lol. it seems like they are just going through motions as oh we still have a show to run - damn i have to write today is the feeling i get from harneet ka thanda, useless, lets mock science, cultures, languages and now mythology writing 😆😆😆

it was good till it lasted girls, anyways its good for us we are not wasting our time like we did before on a show and a forum 😉

Shivika and khanna now 😆 or shivika n OM now 😆
I was completely disappointed at the OM-wasis reactions post shivika left OM

Dadi gives big bhashan but she never says anything to Tej... like how idiotic can that be?
Jhanvi is acting like an obsessed wife forgetting even her sons now
Tinky fights make more sense than Tia's attacks

And best what separation? What pain of obros separation? Every 2-3 days they end up in shivika mansion now 😆

We have obtained some lovely shivika scenes since this goa track started, but we also need a story now! Not fake bhoot... besides till now torturing annika has never ever given rise in trps- one can refer to both daksh's tracks, pinky torturing annika, not even NDEs attempts from Tia made trps increase... yet the CVs thought to drag making annika mad for 3 weeks 😆
Problem is CVs tend to go to extremes when torturing annika, but the end result is just bleh!
Just imagine annika was tortured so much, yet next day CVs didn't even deem a conversation important for shivika to discuss about their unknown enemy! Annika was probably paralysed for an hour at least, but none thought it strange at all😆

Though I have particularly loved Every time SSO comforted annika- this was actually given like 5 or more times in 3 weeks now 😆

I understand that Lee was on holidays n mansi busy with another show, but that doesn't mean CVs just dump them suddenly with an ILU and marriage track now n that too in goa 😆... shouldn't there has been a better build-up... n why did cvs even bring soumya back now...

Veer and the actor playing it is very good, but can veer use his brains than chemical or science-fiction attacks😆

Anyway point be the CVs have always disappointed us many times with many plots... majority of us still here are due to our love for shivika now. At least I watch this show only for narbhi/shivika... but let's see for how long CVs will think they can depend just on shivika's cute unique appeal to maintain viewers than actually writing a real track for them 😆

Ending on community scenes ki jai ho now 😆

Yes absolutely. The real vanvaas really did happen between Khanna and Shivaay🤣

I know! Dadi barely tried to say anything to Tej. The same woman had no qualms on calling out Pinky for calling Shivaay illegitimate barely did anything when Tej was actively trying to divide the family. She just upped and left because she couldn't "bear" it😆 Jhanvi has forgotten her feelings of motherhood and is now the evil saas now, hence Tej is always right while the innocent bahu Gauri is wrong

3 whole weeks of drag. It's like these makers really love to create MCP type characters and when they do, they don't want to let them go. So now that they had the opportunity to create a MCP antagonist, they really milked it. 24/7 cameras, torture of the FL, getting her poisoned, getting her tormented with the bell. It got stale maybe 3 episodes in. And after the 2nd NDE, I wasn't even concerned for Anika's safety anymore bc we all knew nothing was actually going to happen to her😆

I have believed the under the scanner rumors that went out last month, especially in light of the trp trend. I think they are a) bringing everyone back to OM to create a NB sisters vs the Oberois sequence or b) this is their weird way of wrapping everything up😆. It's just bizarre how quickly we're diving into wedding mode. Like Komal jumped off a bridge, and that's that. Shivaay doesn't feel the need to further investigate who she was or who else she worked with lol.

I have been wanting to discuss the vanvaas from some time now and.. here we go.

First off as you said a lot of people came back to watch IB for the track but if you look closely you'll see even the start of the vanvaas was really really weak plot wise. You never jump into the track head first. Every track is always started as a sub to the previous and then brought to the front when the other is resolved. There's always an intro - conflict - resolution.
The intro was weak, the main chunk that had to establish the track wasn't on a solid foundation, but people bought it cause no matter how weak the script was the performance were top notch by everyone. But does that save a show. no. The characters are never the king of the story it's always the script.
I am somebody who has fought with her family and lived in a hostel to study way down in Coimbatore, and I am from Mumbai. And mind you I'm one of the most detached person you'll ever meet and I remember spending months being home sick. But I do agree everyone has their own way of dealing with it. And this is just something I had a problem with. LOL ignore that.
But anyway I was really looking forward to the use of METAPHORS and FORESHADOWING. why the caps and the bold and italics? b/c these are such important terms when it comes to script and storytelling. These are such beautiful enhancements that you add the story but they should never be in your face. That spoils the beauty of things.
I mean seriously even though Ram left Ayodhya the kingdom still stood for 14 years. The fact that the entire Okhandan is dependant to such an extent on Shivaay is so laughable and so wrong character wise. All the characters in the OM are their own person before being related to each other. The fact that they cannot function is such a huge character assassination of all them just to make one look good.
And the second being Ravan, even though Ravan is portrayed as a villain he waited till the end for Sita to give up on Ram, even though he kidnapped her, he never once touched a single hair on Sita. And here we have Veer. This takes disappointment to a whole other level.
You never use metaphors that way. If I were to submit this script for my script and storyboard evaluation, I'd straight up get a course repeat or they'll send me back to foundation year.
So when I see this being written by people who have had years of experience in handling different shows do such injustice to a script it actually makes me question if they really know what they're doing.
I can go on and on about things but well this is getting too long and I have work left to do so.. I'll write more later.
Peace.

True. Even I was wondering what was going on a month ago. Shivaay sent OmRu's share to Svet, and that's it. Family bonds done. It was so abrupt that it was unbelievable. It was only the performances by the cast that elevated that entire vanvaas sequence, otherwise on paper, it was weak. They definitely could have spent a few more episodes to build that conflict among the various family members before going in to the actual vanvaas. But that's the thing with the creatives on this team. They get an idea in their head and wham they nosedive right into their next plot, without bothering to give a solid structure to the storyline. And so their various tracks and experiments invariably fall weak because of the rush and the myopic way they're writing the story.

I had issues with the homesickness too. And how with the bus sequence, they made it a Shivika NDE and then sort of segued it into Shivaay missing his brothers, which I thought was unnecessary. But the visual looked great so I gave it a pass. I definitely expected more mourning from Shivika but I was fine with what was being shown the first week after the vanvaas. But looking back on it, it's clear that they didn't want to focus on the mourning because they really wanted to start the Raavan track.

I wasn't familiar with the Ramayan but those who were were very excited about this track because it seemed that an good adaptation would really showcase all the characters. That's what I was looking forward too, each character growing and becoming their own. Learning from each other. Learning the mistakes that were made. And then the resolution. This Halloween-story was so not it😆. Yes, I also don't like that Shivaay has been glorified to the extent that he solves every problem. It's not realistic, and I think it would make the show more interesting if the other characters were allowed to be more independent to make their own moves and manipulations. Because then the show would be unpredictable and you'd want to tune in to see what happens next

You write beautifully. Thank you. I can only hope I gave an adequate response in return :)
