The Oberoi men walked few feet away from wailing ladies of the Oberoi house.
"Thank god Ansh is safe. Rudra said with a relief grin. "No problem anymore.
"I am not sure about that. Said Shivay with a thoughtful face
"Why do you say that? asked Omkara looking at his brother
"Because the caller said that he has kidnapped an Oberoi son...
"But... prompted Omkara
"But everyone is safe here, under this roof. Shakti completed the predicament.
Just few minutes after the members of the family indulged in their daily activities the phone of Oberoi mansion bought uncomfortable news. "An Oberoi son is under our custody. If you want him safe then follow our instructions. Will call back soon. The call was brief and to the point. Jhanvi Oberoi who answered the call fell down with a hysterical shriek. Midst chokes and hiccups she narrated the message to Daadi, Pinky, Annika and their chief security in charge, Venkat.
Shakti and Tej, who were away on a business trip to Pune were immediately called back. Omkara who was busy in his work space was summoned with frenzy. Rudra, who was shopping with Bhavya for their impending wedding rushed back home worried. Shivay was contacted by Annika with a plea, "Shivay, Ansh has gone to school.
Shivay knew his priorities and right away hurried to collect his four year old from school. The ladies of the house sighed with relief only when their eyes blissfully caught the sight of all Oberoi men in a single frame.
"Maybe it is just a bluff call. Rudra said the most possible hypothesis
"I don't think so. Shivay said and turned to his bade papa for his view. Owning to years of business expertise he was sure Tej Singh Oberoi understood the depth of the matter better. "Bade papa? called Shivay looking at him obserDhruv in deep thought.
"An Oberoi son Tej said to himself aloud. He immediately picked up his phone ignoring curious looks of other men and dialled a number.
"Are you safe? he asked the person in other line. "And Dhruv? he asked with a slight panic. Tej listened to the person in other end with sweat forming on his forehead.Why didn't you tell me? Don't worry I will send someone there immediately. He said before cutting the call and looked at other men.
"An Oberoi is indeed kidnapped. " Tej said in a serious tone
"Who is an Oberoi and not under this roof? An Oberoi who we are not aware of? asked a sceptical Omkara.
Tej ignored his son as he was already trying to get commissioner on line.
"If you are talking about product of any of your numerous affairs, then... Omkara fumed
"Dhruv is kidnapped. Said Tej looking at his son
"Dhruv who? asked Omkara
"Dhruv Singh Oberoi, son of Omkara Singh Oberoi. Announced Tej.
Story: (My take)
Om was shocked. Not just him the whole oberoi clan was shocked listening to it. No one uttered a word. Various questions ran through every ones mind especially om. He stood with his eyes closed and tried to think about the words his father just uttered. He was sure this cant be the truth. But even before he can ask his father for further details he saw everyone looking at one particular person. When he turned in that direction he saw his wife sitting on the near by sofa. She was supported by his mom rubbing her back. She was trying to normalize her breathe. She clutched her 5 month pregnant stomach and tried to ease out the stress which was taking a toll on her since they received the call.
Gauri loved ansh very much. The moment they received the call she was tensed. Though ansh was shivaay and anika's son gauri had a great bonding with him. Ansh was very close to his chachi and he always played with her and gauri was the one who fed him and put him to sleep whenever anika had any other work. Since gauri got to know that she was pregnant anika never allowed her to do any work and hence gauri had no other work except to play with ansh and help him in learning his alphabets and rhymes.
Gauri was slightly relieved when she saw ansh safe and sound but now this news brought back that anxiety in her. She was well aware of her husband's relations but she never imagined that he had a son. She knew he would never lie or cheat her and she believed that probably he wasn't even aware of his own son. She couldn't understand anything and when everyone's eyes were looking at her she couldnot understand what to react. She closed her eyes and tried to take a deep breathe. Seeing her so, om ran to her and knelt beside her putting a hand on her stomach and other cupping her cheek. He called "gauri, before he could say anything she said, "I trust u omkara. I know u can never cheat me or lie to me. But this son of urs.. when she took a pause not knowing to know what to say om took her hand in his and turned to his father and asked "May I know Mr. Oberoi from where did this son of me come from? And pls don't try to bluff that he was a result of my ex-affair as I pretty well know that I and Ridhima never had any relation between us for few months before we broke up. So please if this is one of your foolish attempts to separate me and my wife then Im sorry to say that u cannot succeed.
Tej stared back at his son with a visible hurt on his face and when he was about to say a few words his phone started ringing and tej answered it and explained everything to commissioner. The commissioner advised him on what to be done and tej assured that they will act according to his orders. Tej disconnected the call and explained that commissioner asked them to wait till they get the next call and they would track their place and send special teams to catch them. But to his shock no one seemed interested in his words but were looking at him for the answer for omkara's question.
When tej was getting ready to answer rudy stood infront of him and said " come on dad speak up. We all know that om can never cheat on Bhabhi and he can never lie to her or any of us especially in such matters. So there is no question of Dhruv being O's son. Now tell me why are doing this? that too when gauri Bhabhi is pregnant. Listening to rudy's words tej was more hurt. He never expected that his family would understand him as he know he never understood them. all the questioning looks made him weak to utter a word. Jhanvi saw him falling weak and signaled om to take her place beside gauri and went to support tej. she stood beside Tej and caught his left arm and spoke, "tej leave all this. I know you don't have any problem with gauri being your bahu. And I know that you love her so much. They may believe it or not but I believe it. But now tell us why are you saying that an unknown boy is omkara's son? Why?
Listening to jhanvi's dialogues om rolled his eyes. he can never believe the ever status conscious Tej Singh Oberoi can accept Gauri as his bahu and love her like his daughter. But before he could say anything against his mom jhanvi continued "they haven't seen how much you cried when gauri gave birth to a still born in her first delivery. But I have seen you crying and breaking down unable to om and gauri in pain. Even before jhanvi continued tej pushed her away and shouted "that baby is not dead. He is alive. Very much alive. And that is Dhruv.. Dhruv Singh Oberoi son of Omkara and Gauri Singh Oberoi.
Listening to it all were shocked. More than anyone omkara and gauri got the biggest shock of their life. Their baby whom they thought was still born is actually alive and they never knew about it. Om and gauri stood in their places all shocked and looking at each other unable to understand what his father just said. When jhanvi asked him again tej confirmed it and said that the baby who was believed to be still born by the whole oberoi clan was actually alive and almost 1 year old.
It took some time for om and gauri to digest the news. Om immediately went towards tej and asked him how could he do that to him? why did he hide his own son from him and what right he had in doing so. Before tej could answer they heard anika shouting Gauri...
Gauri fainted on the sofa. Om immediately rushed to her and picked her up and took her into their room. He called doctor. No one uttered a word. Initially the call and now dhruv's revelation and now gauri's health everything was taking a toll on everyone. Doctor gave an injection asked the family to let her take rest. She had enough stress today.
Om closed his room's door and turned to tej and asked him to answer his questions. Tej replied "I will explain everything but this is not the time. We need to get him back. Lets think of him now. Later we can talk. Shivaay signaled the same to omkara and they waited for the next call from the kidnappers.
Within 2 hours the kidnappers were traced and dhruv was rescued. But by the time he was brought to oberoi mansion dhruv was so unwell. Tej has arranged the doctor and all medical necessities of dhruv in the guest room of the mansion and took him there. Dhruv was treated by the doctor and after few minutes he came out and spoke to tej "sorry mr.oberoi you are very much aware of his condition. It's the same. Nothing has changed and you the result. Saying this doctor left and tej just closed his eyes. everyone were very anxious to know about all these arrangements around dhruv. The doctor treatment and the whole setup of dhruv where he was give artificial oxygen to breathe did not sink with anyone. Everyone were clueless. The person who knew everything was calm with his eyes closed and collapsed sitting on the sofa in the room. Om was looking at his son who was just an year old and surrounded by all the life saving equipment.
Om ran to his father and knelt before him and caught his hands and asked "he is my son. My dhruv. Then what has happened to him. why is he so?? Whats going on?? Please tell me??? tej looked at his son before he could say anything he saw gauri entering hurriedly into the room and standing beside dhruv in shock. She just froze looking at him. seeing her om ran to her and supported her by catching her from back. She was just looking at her son. And tears were rolling down her eyes.. after few minutes even she confronted tej. Tej took all of them to hall and asked the nurse and aaya to take care of dhruv and started explaining them.
As tej started "Om when gauri was nearing her delivery date the whole family went to kuldevi mandir to perform some Pooja on the name of Ansh and your unborn baby, only you me and gauri were in the house. When you went for an exhibition for few hours and then gauri ran into labour only I took her to the hospital. That day I was so tensed that I did not call any of you till gauri delivered dhruv. I was so happy. but within few minutes the doctor has informed me that dhruv had a breathing problem and they are gonna keep baby in a specialized incubator for sometime and had to perform some tests on him. I was more tensed. I was behind the doctors till all the tests were performed and I even forgot to call any of you. As soon as the doctors got the reports they said me that Dhruv was born with not completely developed lungs and will not be able to survive for more than few hours or sometimes few days. I was shocked. I didn't knew what to do. The doctor clearly said that dhruv will not be able to survive longer and even before u can celebrate his birth he may lose his life. I did not know what to do. I know how much u and gauri were waiting for the baby. and If u know this that your baby may die anytime then you will not be able to bear it. So I decided to hide the fact and then asked the doctors to lie to you that gauri gave birth to a still born baby. I thought that if at all the baby recovers I will reveal the truth to you later. But that never happened. From that day Dhruv was always under the supervision of a well trained nurse. I bought an apartment and kept dhruv there. from this past one year I was taking care of him. I tried to get the best doctors of the world for him but nothing changed his condition. Many specialists said that it was a miracle for a baby with this rare disorder to survive such long as many will die within few months. Probably gauri's prayers have had its effect on him. from the past 2 weeks dhruv's condition has worsened. He was in hospital. He is just counting his days.. saying this tej fell infront of gauri and broke down.
Gauri could not handle it anymore and started crying leaning her head on omkara. Om held her from back and cried his heart out. After few minutes om cleared his tears and asked tej "why did you hide all this? we could have fought all this together? Why did you hide it? everyone looked at him expecially gauri. She needed that answer. She wanted to know why she was kept in darkness from the biggest truth of her life.
Tej answered " I know you might be angry at me for hiding all this from you. I agree I have no right in hiding this from you. But I just wanted to protect you from the pain. Nothing more than that. omkara looked puzzled at him. Tej continued "I know the pain how it feels when you see your kid suffering all this infront of you. I know how helpless we feel when you cant help them in easing out their pain. I know how painful it is to see your wife crying and breaking infront of you everyday and every night which breaks you inch by inch from inside. I have been through all this omkara when you were in coma for three months. Om gasped at his father's words. He was probably understanding the reason behind his actions. Tej continued " for three months I have seen your mom and your bros crying for you. I have seen gauri praying for you, trying to gather all the hope that you would wake up one day and saw her breaking down all alone in a corner of the house when she falls weak. I cant see her going through all that again. That was why I decided to hide the news. You and gauri thought that dhruv was dead and tried to move on and started your life altogether again. But this would not have happened if you knew the truth. I know I have no right to hide it but I felt only this can save you both from pain. I have given a lot of pain in your life omkara and gauri also faced a lot of problems all alone in her life. I did not wanted you to suffer more. That was why I hid it. Nothing else. If he wasn't kidnapped you would have never known about him. as soon as he completed he felt saw gauri sitting down beside him and catching his hands and took them near her lips and kissed it with a thanks. She said "thank u papa for thinking about us. And more than that thank u for taking such a great care of my son. From this one year you bore this all alone. None of us knew about him. only you faced all this pain alone. Just to save us from that pain. Thank u papa..
After gauri spoke omkara could not speak anything. He was still processing all this. This was new to him. his father's concern was sumthing which he never experienced and never expected too. but now his son was his priority. He looked at his dad and stood up and helped gauri and took her along with him.
The next 2 weeks gauri and omkara tried to go close to dhruv. But he never allowed anyone near him except tej. From the past one year he was only habituated to tej other than the maid who takes care of him. so it wasn't easy for him to accept the whole family all of sudden. The whole family gave time for gauri and om to go closer to dhruv and after he became free with his parents the other family started trying to get close to him.
The next one month gauri was busy with dhruv. She was always with him taking care of him and playing with him. Though she was happy having dhruv with her she was continuously worried about his health. She was exerting herself so much. She concentrated less on her health. Omkara and other members of the family mainly anika took charge of her diet and medicines. Omkara tried to ease her stress but she had that fear of losing dhruv always in her. she even started awakening in the middle of nights in that fear of losing her son. She panicked heavily when ever she saw dhruv suffering any minor health issue. 2 months went away so and om seeing gauri in that state made om realise that his father was indeed right in hiding the news.
If this was the condition of gauri in 2 months of seeing dhruv in this condition what she would have gone through in all these months.. Om realized that his father was right and om was happy somewhere that his father has finally changed and was able to understand his children's pain.
After those 2 months dhruv health condition worsened and finally he was no more. Gauri and omkara were broken by seeing his son leaving the world infront of them. but om had to strengthen himself as he has to console gauri and take care of her and their unborn baby. he started taking care of her. till the delivery om made sure that gauri was always healthy and tried to console her whenever she broke down remembering their son. Seeing his efforts though she was broken from inside she tried to cope up herself. She was always a fighter and she fought all her wars all alone but now she has her husband and a family to support her. She decided to see her lost son in her unborn baby.
Finally after another 2 months gauri delivered a healthy baby boy and everyone in the oberoi family celebrated it. The baby was initially kept in the incubator for 2-3 hours as a part of normal procedure and then when baby was brought into the room by the nurse everyone tried to compete to take the baby into their hands. Daadi being the eldest took the baby into her hands and commented that the baby looked exactly like dhruv who was indeed like omkara.
Omkara and gauri smiled feebly listening to the comment and om who was sitting beside her gave her a side hug assuring each other. Gauri rested her head on his shoulder looking happily at the whole family who were still arguing on who has to take the baby next. Daadi turned towards om as said "now its turn of the baby's parents. And started walking towards them but omkara stopped her and said that "before the parents grand parents come. Daadi give the baby to dad. After all dadaji has the first right to take the baby into his arms. Saying this om and gauri smiled at each other and tej looked at them surprisingly.
He took slow steps towards daadi and took the baby in his hands with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes.. he played with baby for few minutes. Kept staring at him as it was the most precious thing and finally walked towards om and gauri and gave it to them. he uttered a thank u and rubbed his hand over the heads of om and gauri to bless them. when he was about to turn and go back om called tej "papa. Tej was stunned. It was his dream to listen this word from om's mouth.
He immediately turned back with tears rolling from his eyes and om hugged his dad tightly. they stayed so for few seconds and everyone in the room became emotional seeing the union of long last father and son. Omkara broke the hug and said "thank u dad for all that u have done for me gauri and dhruv. I couldnot bear that pain for 2 months but u bore it all alone for an year. Thanks a lot. What ever was between us lets just forget and start all fresh. Lets be the best father and son for ansh and the new one. Shall we? tej had tears rolling down listening to these words. He just hugged om and uttered thank u for forgiving him.
Soon rudy, jhanvi and shivaay too joined the hug. Gauri looked at her son kissed his cheek and closed her eyes and remembered dhruv and thanked him for coming into their lives and giving om his father. She thought probably his entry into this world was meant for that. that moment she decided to not to cry for him again but treasure the few memories she had with him till death in her heart. She took the new born close to her heart and hugged him. soon om too joined her and that was perfectly captured by the official photographer of the oberoi clan rudy.
Since then there was no turning back in omkara's life. he got his son and father. The biggest missing piece of his life was finally in his life. over the period om and tej developed a great bond. They became great friends than father and son. Om helped his father in his deals and tej visited and promoted omkara's art. Among all Tej missed dhruv the most in the family. After all he was the one who has seen every phase of dhruv's life. he was reliving that with omkara's new born who was named as Ved Singh Oberoi by Tej himself on omkara and gauri's request.
I don't know how it turned up.. this story is actually inspired from a movie of MANIRATNAM named Anjali. Where a husband hides his baby from his wife saying she died as soon as she was born becoz of some heart disease. I took that as an inspiration and moulded this story. I wanted to patch up tej and om and took this plot as I felt this act of tej can really make om forgive him.
I tried to connect the plot with the coma track where I have seen tej really feeling bad to see his son lying on the bed lifeless.
