Shivaay the Provider and Protector

Many emotional scenes again today but on a rewatch, I was struck by something in the Shivika scene in front of Shakti and Pinky...

Waise toh in the whole episode, we saw a Shivaay struggling to keep up a facade of stoicness, trying to keep his emotions in check while asking others to accept his decision too...

But in this scene with Anika, some things were very notable...on the surface, one can make the presumption that Shivaay so coolly expected Anika to stay behind and not come with him. But there were so many layers to this moment:

1) A Shivaay asking Anika to be strong even as he is barely able to hide the fact that he himself is just about keeping it together...the way he'd constantly duck his head away after giving these grand lectures about how she has to take care of everyone now and she has to stay strong with it...all while Anika just watches him like she can see what he's trying to do there and her heart breaks for him some more

2) All his life, Shivaay has been the PROVIDER for this family...I was struck by what it must feel like for a person who has been in such a position of strength in terms of being able to provide for and protect his family, his loved ones all his life...to be so utterly helpless now.

So the thought that strikes there is not that he chose to leave Anika behind...but that the need to protect is so DEEPLY ingrained that he actually can't deal with not being able to provide the comforts and protection that he's provided for his loved ones all his life...that feeling is unbearable for him...and it came across very palpably in this scene...the way he told Anika that he has no idea how he's going to manage, where he's going to live and he cannot subject her to the same for no fault of hers, because he's the one to blame for this situation...showed his state of mind...he felt regret, shame, all of those things...he blamed himself for failing her and could not live with the idea of not being able to provide for her as he has been all this time.

That this is Shivaay's first instinct is not surprising at all...yes, they have lived through their little chawl adventure where he happily adjusted for her sake...but there was always a temporary feel to that...it never hit as hard as this where he is actually grappling with this level of uncertainty in his life for the FIRST time...and uncertainty is the one thing that Shivaay absolutely CANNOT deal with...his first instinct is to throw himself onto the bomb and shove everyone else into a protective bunker...that's who he is...so this was him today, trying to put Anika into that "protective bunker" along with everyone else.

3) And then there's Anika's reaction...cuz really, who did Shivaay think he was kidding when he actually thought she'd AGREE to stay behind? LOL I think somewhere he knew this but he still had to try cuz that's just how his mind works...

So Anika let him hear it...reminding him again that there is no "You and me, there is an US here...we are one, not two seperate entities"...NM-SC performed this bit SO beautifully...what expressions👏👏...and what voice modulation from SC...just heartbreaking...especially he way she said, "aapke saath koi pareshaani nahin hogi"...the way she grabbed the lapel of his coat and told him stubbornly that she will stay with him come what what may...leaving Shivaay both in awe and exasperated with her again as she just rushed away to pack, refusing to listen to him any further.

There was also a child-like quality to Anika's last bits in this scene as she again showed that vulnerability, reminding him that he is her family before anything else...that she cannot survive without him, just like he can't without her...they both know this...but it had to be reiterated in this scene...to override Shivaay's usual instinct to try and protect her at his own cost.

Lots of scenes to analyze in today's epi...but I picked this one for now😆...feel free to add your own :)

Great analysis! Loved the detail in the writing.

I thought Shivika would have a fight where Shivaay wouldn't want Annika to come with him for several reasons like making sure she handles the family, holds everyone together and continues the fight against Svetlana. Whereas Annika wouldn't want to leave Shivaay alone to fend for himself when he's breaking.

I would like to think that deep down, Shivaay didn't want to stay Annika here. That he didn't want to be without her but knew that Annika doesn't deserve to struggle with his choices and what they are going to have to live with.

I'm happy Shivika are going to be in this together. Holding hands at every twist and turn. It's a dream come true. I can't wait.

Abhi I typed a mini essay and it got deleted

This scene was fab I loved how he showed him breaking inside and how at thodi si protest from anika be agreed fairly easily. Yes it was killing him that he would put her in a position where everything will not be a bed of roses and wanted to protect her and keep her away yet a part of him so badly wanted her to come along and he could not fight his heart and mind for too long . He knew he needed her warna won khud nahi rah paayega isi liye thodi si resistance from anika and he noded yes ok . Very very very touching scene.nm and SC bit H were simply amazing and that raw feel was so so on point seedha pierced my heart. The way she held his coat like a bachi yet it showed how helpless she'd feel without him too how incomplete and yes loved anika kI line ke aapke saath pareshani nahi like what makes you think that she is here for wordly pleasures she soundned so upset at it and he knows it too ke she isn't with him for all these comforts but that was his basic nature at play that is who Shivaay is he will leave her behind just so she doesn't have to suffer like she did before even if it might kill him* sigh these 2 are precious*

Also talking about uncertainty another moment that highlighted it was him telling ru ke main waapis aaoonga that hollowness in his voice with a question Mark at the end man that made me teary it was so khola caz he himself doesn't know if it will ever happen infact he is almost sure it won't but then he is giving a jhoota dilasa to himself more then Rudy that no I will come back

My heart went out to him

Thanks :)

Shivaay definitely didn't WANT to leave Anika behind...he knows he can't survive without her and she without him...but then this is as true as the fact that Shivaay will always try to shield his loved ones from any harsh circumstances...he didn't want Anika to face the upcoming hardships so he tried to dissuade her from that...only to be reminded again of a fact he already knew...that they are one entity.

This was IB's version of Ram asking Sita to stay behind at Ayodhya and not come with him to Vanvaas since he didn't want her to face hardships.

There were some heavy scenes in the episode, but the scene with Rudra and Daadi was just plain sad. Honestly, I feel bad for Shivaay because his family is awful 😆 Only Daadi, Om, and Rudra loved him unconditionally with all his flaws without expecting something in return. Everyone else was using him for their own interests and as a literal shield. He didn't deliver once and he was graciously shown the door. He needs to learn you can't trust them just because they are family.

Bit of karma coming back to Shivaay. How many times did he humiliate Anika to protect his family? Now his own family is ousting and humiliating him for no reason. Not gonna lie, but an angry Shivaay disowning them would be awesome. That won't happen, but how cool would it be.

Tej is petty, man 😆 Seems like he was waiting for this moment for a long time. He didn't need Tia to plant seeds in his mind to humiliate Shivaay. I'm not shocked by Jhanvi. The women is the epitome of weak. I don't really understand the Pinky vs Jhanvi debates on twitter because they are both toxic individuals. Hard pass on both of them. No thanks.

I'm here for Shivaay disappearing and living his life. Om stepping up and being active participant in the decision-making. Rudra really needs to go to Australia with Saumya. This toxic environment isn't for him. Poor guy snapped and it's hasn't even been a day. This isn't the life for him 😆

I LOVED the episode today.Just was waiting to see your GIFS
Some fantastic voice modulation from Nakuul and Surbhi

ShivRu Scene:

Shiv expects Ru to promise looking him in the eye but he can't do the same. Be it the first time I saw him cry with Saumya when Shivay was hospitalized or now, he like you said, is a lost child without Shivay or at the thought of losing him.

Shivika with Pinky-Shakti:

There is a whole new level of domesticity to the scene and between them with the younger couple being so vocal of their thoughts in front of the parents. Shivay did what he always did best. As you said, he can't or doesn't want to take Anika along when he can't even promise her the basic needs . This level of uncertainty actually is killing him. He knew what she would do and he din't even try beyong that. Its that overwhelming feeling to be loved so deeply. What do I say of SC's voice modulation as Anika says' aap jis haalaat mei rakhenge, Ill have no complaints. Ahh that really was overwhelming to hear her say that. Her voice here is amazing, it has the right mix of innocence, assertiveness, willfulness, and finality before she hurries to pack her bags . I was reminded of the scene during Mahi times..Shivay asks kahan ja rahi ho...and she says ..Aapke saath. She is living that promise today. Rightly so, No Shivay, no Anika and if there is no Anika, there is no Shivay.

Anika-Dadi

They have shared a lovely bond right from start. She can promise she would never leave Shivay, that she can't replace his brothers in his life but she won't let him be lonely in his life. Even in this calamity, where she is the wronged, she only has good things to tell her to lift her spirits that things would change for better.

Shivay-Dadi.

My heart goes out to SHivay. It breaks my heart to see him so broken. NM has aced the scene here, his voice modulation as he says "Mei haar gaya' followed by his sobbing in her lap. I'd believe that were some real tears there. His candid pics shared by Mahesh Ji has him in a very grave mood, must have been after all these scenes. Taxing indeed, life of actors!! Such a heart wrenching scene. I shall place his Press conference episode as the best in comparison but probably knowing what kind of bond Shivay Dadi share, or what we have witnessed in this 400+ episodes, it really hurts to see Shivay sob his heart out.

Shivika

Shivay looked so fragile, especially his demeanor was to be noted as he looks across his room, his shoulders drooping as he stood all alone feeling shattered and a failure. Here comes Anika, who taps across his shoulder to be that strength he requires. I love how she runs her hand on his shoulders as she says khushiyan jagah se nahi insan se judi hai. That is all it took for him to regain his posture and pull her into a hug.

Precap

No surprises there. Ru is immature, all he could think of t0o stop them from leaving was to pull this stunt. He can't think rationally, logically or maturely. By hook or crook, he'd have to stop his brother from leaving. When he saw Shivay on his laptop, he was like...Kya karoun, kya karoun and he comes up with this. This threat he believes will work. Imagine he trusts his brother can't let him do this. At same time, he is all so willing to go this length to stop him.

Anyways, Shivay was doing some serious work on his laptop with some urgency. I just hope he has thought out something to stop Svetlana from troubling this family further. Not because he is supposed to, but because he is leaving his Dadi and brothers with Svets and even Shivay MUST know there is no guarantee that Svets wouldn't still leak the sensitive videotapes.

Seeking logic:

Now the one who caused the accident has left, so why would Tia hang around. Jhanvi has kind of sold her favorite toy (Tej) to Tia now. Jhanvi legit looked a vamp today.
Gauri mentions Badki Jiji to Anika. So does Anika only happens to remember Chutki in her sapna?

Regarding Bags checking:

I hope Tej doesn't take away Anika's star mangalsutra and solitaire ring. Yaar Shivay ne Anika ke SUBTLE personality ke hisaab se who ring liya tha. Inserts Om's eyeroll from that scene.

VanWaas

Is DSJZ's AM going to help Shivay find some work? Life comes a full circle na?
After so much drama, and bahu Shivay being tortured by rishtedaar, inko that ever elusive TRP mil jaye though you can't expect people to know that rating garnering episodes are on. Promotions bhi toh nahi hai TV pe.
Arey Lakshman ke bina, kahe ka vanwaas. I wish Rudy was with tem, kisi ek insaan se toh bach jaata. Instead can they take Sahil and Sumo along. Sahil would be too happy to see her
Will I get to see, Om handling business by hanging bade bhaiyya Shivay's coat on the MD's chair? He is Bharat na??

I forgot to mention this. Absolutely true about the uncertainty when he says he'd come back. At that point all he cared was about his little brother. If this lie could help Rudra, so be it.

OmRu hero worship Shivaay...and Daadi idolizes him as her only responsible grandson...the rest were happy as long as the money was rolling in for all the comforts😆

Bit of karma coming back to Shivaay. How many times did he humiliate Anika to protect his family? Now his own family is ousting and humiliating him for no reason. Very true...Karma biting him back pretty hard...he has humiliated and thrown Anika out for his family's sake many times...now that very family has turned him out...Karma indeed...sad to watch nevertheless.

This isn't the life for him 😆 LOL quite hilarious how you have no mention of Anika in whatever future you have planned for Shivaay...where's he gonna step out and "live his life" without her? 😆...and more than any of the three, it is Shivaay who finds it hard to survive without his family...OmRu toh just want to be around Shivaay...baaki duniya jaaye tel lene😆

That one line sums it all up...it's an overwhelming feeling indeed and that showed on Shivaay's face...she still manages to leave him in awe of how much she loves him and will always stand with him, come what may...word on SC's voice modulation...oh man, the catch in her voice when she says, "aapke saath pareshaani nahin hogi" was EVERYTHING in this scene...dil bhar aata hai ekdum...as you said, there was innocence, wilfulness, assertiveness, so much in that scene from Anika...so many shades so amazingly portrayed...and yes, it had a reminder of that scene...her single minded determination to always be with him...which is why toh the seperation pinched so hard after that :/...lol ah well.

Anika-Dadi

They have shared a lovely bond right from start. She can promise she would never leave Shivay, that she can't replace his brothers in his life but she won't let him be lonely in his life. Even in this calamity, where she is the wronged, she only has good things to tell her to lift her spirits that things would change for better.
I loved this scene but I still wished Anika had said in response to Daadi's concerns ki she will always take care of Shivaay...not just the fact that she won't let him feel lonely without his brothers/family...but otherwise it was a very touching scene the way both her and Daadi tried to console each other.

Shivay-Dadi.

My heart goes out to SHivay. It breaks my heart to see him so broken. NM has aced the scene here, his voice modulation as he says "Mei haar gaya' followed by his sobbing in her lap. NM frankly SAVED this scene when he stepped in cuz the chaabi drama was just getting too much for me...but from the moment Shivaay stepped in, the scene shifted to another level and then his breakdown in Daadi's lap took it to another emotional level...the way Shivaay admitted defeat in a very rare show of weakness and then sobbed so brokenly...but then tried to gather himself again determinedly to console Daadi too...could be real tears indeed cuz the actors did look quite sapped in the BTS pics...they all poured a lot of emotion into these scenes.

That was definitely the best line of this scene :) Still, something about the previous scene in Shakti-Pinky's presence was more touching to me.

LOL I don't think Shivaay got any serious work done...he was probably transferring his shares to OmRu there...or wrapping up some business issues...not sure how much he can buffer the family against Svet's videotapes for now.

As for Rudy...yes no surprises really, he was quite desperate to stop Shivaay by any means but it's still horrible to see him in this state...I think he's far gone enough to even see the threat through...he genuinely wouldn't want to live without Shivaay and he hasn't thought this through...

Seeking logic:

LOL most pointless exercise this...seeking logic...why do you even try? 😛😆...Anika will remember Chutki when Harneet decides...abhi mood nahin hai uska😆...and Jhanvi has fully gone over to the dark side...ab Om hi aake usko dose dega😆...no idea how long Tia will hang around for once her work is done😆

Regarding Bags checking:

I hope Tej doesn't take away Anika's star mangalsutra and solitaire ring. Yaar Shivay ne Anika ke SUBTLE personality ke hisaab se who ring liya tha. Inserts Om's eyeroll from that scene.

LOL ring shaayad chhod de cuz GOLD kangans ka drama setup hua hai with specially making Anika wear those😆...MS bhi baksh diya hai, badi meherbaani TSO ki🤔

ROFL@ the last line...depends on Om's choice I guess...Shivaay has left behind a lot of his stuff for Om to choose what to put on MD waali chair 😆😆

Promotions toh kar rahe the on TV I thought with the vanvaas promo, no? DSJZ ke saath koi track nahin, it's just a random promotion that Shivika went over there for...lol

Yeh Laxman is too weak to accompany Ram-Sita...yeh toh khud ki jaan lene ko tayyar baitha hai...he has to grow up a lot abhi.

Brilliant post AY...
After a power packed last week,...a great start to this week too...👏

Shiv Ru scene - Failing to console

The part where Shivaay is asking Rudy to look into his eyes and commit that he will take care of the family, while he was evading eye contact just goes to stay the depth of his pain.
And the part where he says that when things normalize "main wapas aa jayunga"...that burning desire to come back mixed with lack of confidence in his words was portrayed so well...👏

Shivaay Daadi - Heart wrenching

The beauty of the scene was minimal dialogues yet such HIGH IMPACT...Shivaay's head hung in shame, disappointment for not fulfilling his commitment and him breaking down was one of the purest scene...Shivaay being Shivaay put in a conscious effort to regain his composure and demonstrated his decisiveness

Shivaay - Anika - Interdependence & Protection

It was such an interesting dynamic, where Shivaay wants Anika to be the protector of his family and the same time is seeking that protection from her for himself. He is crumbling from within and wants his pillar of strength to prevent him from falling apart yet at the same time he wants her to stay back as he thinks she is the ONLY one capable of replacing him in keeping his unit together, particularly his daadi whom he values the most.

I cant stop admiring SC's voice modulation when she said "aap ke saath koi pareshani nahin, aap jis haal mein rakhenge us haal main rahungi"👏 followed by her determination to not waste any further in time in engaging in any futile discussion...

The 2nd scene had more acceptance, appreciation, trust and respect. A depiction of a relationship that had grown from strength to strength and that will grow stronger despite all the turbulence.
Its interesting how their common trait of being overly protective of their loved ones and not sharing their problems always turns out to be destructive for them..Hope to see some realization there

Anika - Daadi - Fears

Daadi's love for her Billu is extremely endearing. Daado has accepted the bitter truth but knowing SHivaay's attachment towards his family and his inexpressive nature, she fears the worst for him. What I liked about the conversation that it was focused on Shivaay and how he would cope rather than how daadi or the entire family would cope with his absence. That was a demonstration of her unconditional love for her dearest grandson.
